For the past six months, we have been repeatedly billed, despite calling them at least five times, having our agent contact them multiple times, and myself reaching out directly to their Austin office. I strongly warn everyone to steer clear of this unethical and ungrateful company. They have capitalized off us for thousands of dollars without ever paying a claim, and now, more than six months after canceling the policy, they continue to harass us with bills. Since the time that I had to have our house inspected by a third party, I had a negative experience with the inspector, as he failed to show at the agreed to date and time. I complained to both my agent and Vermont mutual and they assigned another inspector, but never apologized for my inconvenience. Just last month I received a notice that another inspector was going to show up to our house, but when I spoke with him about coming, he stated tomorrow, instead of allowing me to arrange a convenient time when I could drive up, as this is our vacation home. I then received a call from our agent who told me this inspection was scheduled because it was my first one according to their records. I told the Melchor and Prescott agent that was incorrect as I had a previous inspection that wasn't recorded by Vermont mutual. I demanded that she get to the bottom this and why my first inspection wasn't recorded. I don't like what transpired, especially the anal comments made by the inspector that I could have explained had he allowed me to be there with him. I'm through with this third rate backwater insurance company and switching carriers.

These repairs included some siding, paint some trim and replace a small portion of roof. They also required us to install a $1000 water flow monitoring device. We replaced the siding, painted the trim and sent pictures. We provided proof the roof had been replaced less than 2 years ago by the previous owner. We chose to install new kitchen cabinets, granite countertops and paint the interior. When the inspector came the countertops had not been installed. Union Mutual cancelled our insurance at this point because the risk was too high and we did not by a builders risk policy for the "construction work" They claimed we made no repairs as requested and roof was not replaced. Since our new insurance company did not require the water device we asked for them to reimburse us and were also declined. Union Mutual Lies. Their decision making staff are uneducated in construction and actual risk. A state audit of this company to practice in Maine is recommended.
