As I was asking a question I was told "I have a customer can you wait on hold" Why should I be put on hold? Couldn't she tell the customer that she'll be with them in a minute. You get the feeling that they just see you as a $$ign. This NBT though is not the ubiquitous VT local because they have Carol. She really had the true sense of Local - treating customers like her neighbors! Very refreshing and for the first time this season I felt more than just $ to VT retailers and farmers. About a month ago, I decided to visit Montreal last minute and needed to exchange USD to Canadian currency. I don't have a local bank and my banks didn't have exchange capabilities in VT. When I called around, I found out that many local banks only provide the service for their members or charge extra (a lot) for the service. More hassle and nickel and diming. Not so at NBT and Carol was so helpful - fair exchange rate and no nickel and diming. When I got there the next day, she came by and said "hello". This is VT I remember and Carol was very welcoming! The exchange was pleasant and I was so happy that I told how great NBT is to everyone that week! At the end of the day, it's about people who make the difference. NBT is lucky to have Carol Costello and I am grateful she helped me. She gets the real meaning of what it is to support Local and has Customer Service down!

Whoever went on this spending spree went to stores that I had no history shopping at. Three months later I just got the final call that the case is closed and I'm not getting my funds recouped. Perfect timing as my mother is on her death bed down in Middlebury. These are not good people and I'll spend the rest of my life imploring the people close to me to stop banking with them or not bank with them at all. Take your business elsewhere.

It is…read morevery convenient for those headed to Montreal or Quebec City who want to get some Canadian cash. Once you cross the border you will be on Autoroute 55 in Quebec. Take the second exit "Route 143" and head west on 143. Within 100 yards you will see a grocery store in a strip mall on your left. The bank is in that mall. Be careful because one ATM gives out US dollars. You will get hit with a foreign currency conversion fee and receive a bunch of US bills if you use the wrong machine. If you are hungry you can stop in the grocery store for some food. They have a small area with tables and chairs where you can eat. There is also a small SAQ store where you can buy a nice French wine to take back to the US. If you want a much greater selection of French wines, go to the Magog SAQ store.
