He informed our friend that her credit card payment had not been authorised. I was already about to make up the shortfall by cash but he was extremely reticent to hand over the printout from the machine which aroused our suspicions. We eventually did wrestle the printout from his clenched hand and discovered upon examination that the payment had gone through. It is my belief that the waiter was attempting to get us to pay again through deception, although I can't prove it. At any rate I would not recommend anyone eating here and if you do, I would strongly suggest paying by cash rather than card as I believe that this restaurant has crooks and thieves working there. I also doubt if we were the first that this deception was attempted on or the last. Go elsewhere, not here. On the plus side the food was nice, but we will never return.

Huong Que certainly gains no marks for effort in the decor stakes - we wondered whether the large plastic plants had been bought in specially, or if they'd been recovered from the skip following the refurb. They certainly haven't tried to go down the pretentious route here. A point of potential comedy/disaster was watching people slip on the wet flooring as they entered the restaurant. Plumping for a surface that becomes nearly frictionless when water is introduced seems an optimistic gambit in England, at best. The menu, on cheerfully laminated A4 inkjet printed paper, listed a selection of appealing sounding dishes marked as Entrees and Mains, yet all priced more or less identically. The 5 of us made our selections, and watched as a waiter brought 3 bowls of Pho down the steps from the kitchen and managed to tip one all over the steps and himself, as the others stood looking on uncertain of what to do. The yellow "wet floor" bollard was deployed eventually. My starter of cold rolls with prawn & pork was delivered in great time, but the waiter seemed unsure as to whether the spring rolls he had were for us, and disappeared with them. A few minutes later, Martin's fried prawns arrived. A few minutes later they collected my dish, then brought out Simon's starter. About 15 minutes later Liz's main course arrived, and we pointed out that we were still waiting for 2 starters. The waiter's confused reaction was bettered only by his response: "Maybe they will be here soon?". The other 4 main courses we'd ordered were there fairly soon, but there was no sign of the starters. Nor did we see any evidence of the 6th main course we'd ordered to share. At 9:15 the waiter came over - as it turned out, not to apologise for our food going missing - to tell us that another party had booked our table for 8:30 and had been waiting some time, and effectively said we had to leave. We pointed out the missing items from our bill, and he seemed surprised that they hadn't arrived (odd, as it was him who we'd told previously), and generously adjusted the bill and volunteered to forego the service charge. All a bit of a chronic shame really - my grilled pork noodle & spring roll dish was a tasty, filling, excellent example of Vietnamese cuisine, and most of the others seemed to enjoy theirs too. If this place can tighten up on their service, they should be able to keep it ticking over very nicely indeed. If not, it'll leave me wondering whether "Huong Que" is some sort of Vietnamese tribute to London's "Wong Kei". Although in fairness, they're not inept - just purposefully rude.

Sometimes language is a problem as many of the waiting staff have limited English skills, but any mistakes are profusely apologised for and is corrected. Its certainly somewhere to go on a low budget and I've gone there for mine and others birthdays meals. They seem to be able to cater for large parties with no issues. I never hesitate to take friends who are visiting Bristol, to visit here. Parking is often easy during the evening and I've always had a pleasant and fun evening out. The toilets are kept clean and tidy and the general eating area, although not overly luxurious, certainly is suitable for what the place offers.

Firstly, we want to say thank you for checking in on our food and being so responsive to our allergy concerns. That care was genuinely appreciated and gave us confidence in what we were eating. However, the experience fell short in how our family was treated--particularly as parents of a neurodiverse toddler. Understandably, our little one was tired and hungry when we arrived. While waiting for food, he became overstimulated and struggled to stay calm, eventually settling with a game that helped him regulate--though it did cause him to vocalize loudly in excitement. We were actively trying to manage this, including removing the crayons and activities when they became unhelpful. A supervisor then approached us and said other guests were complaining, asking whether we could "keep him quiet or go outside." While we understand the need to be mindful of other diners, the way this was said felt more like an ultimatum than a compassionate check-in. In that moment, we needed support, not pressure. What made it worse was overhearing a staff member say to a couple who had just been seated near us, "Let us know if you want to move at any point." This clearly implied our child was a problem. To their credit, the couple themselves questioned why they'd need to move--highlighting that the issue wasn't as disruptive as it was made out to be. Still, overhearing this exchange without any attempt by staff to reassure or support us left us feeling judged and unwelcome. We truly understand the challenge of balancing a calm environment for all diners, but families--especially those with neurodiverse children--need more understanding, not subtle exclusion. These situations require empathy and discretion, not public discomfort. Again, thank you for your excellent attention to food allergies. That part of the service was handled with care and professionalism. We hope this feedback encourages greater awareness and inclusive training for staff so that families can feel just as welcomed as anyone else.

Lovely stuff!…read more Wellington has at least 2 other oriental take-away restaurants to choose from, and after sampling the others on a couple of occasions I have come to the conclusion that this one never disappoints! I'm particularly partial to their shredded crispy chilli beef! As their slogan says... 'all we are saying is give wok a chance'... corny perhaps, but if you're in and around Wellington and wish a Thai / Vietnamese / Chinese Peking and Cantonese takeaway then this is the one for you.
