Needed a quick dinner with the family before a concert at the Cathedral. Hotel desk suggested the Thai restaurant, said it was her favorite and the owner was hilarious. Went in with low expectations. Had the Tom Yum Goong (hot and sour shrimp soup). Really flavorful broth, complex and spicy. Nice variety of veggies, reasonable amount of shrimp. The bowl was large. Had the duck with red curry, also very tasty. Nice complex curry, generous portions of duck, maybe a tad on the sweet side for me. Went nicely over the coconut rice we ordered (note they serve the coconut rice with sesame seeds, girl child is allergic to sesame seeds, they took it back and brought more coconut rice) . Chicken satay was pretty standard, perfectly fine. Ordered lemon chicken for the picky girl child. Surprisingly well fried and crunchy. She ate a good portion of it without complaint, so thumbs up for that. Pad Thai was devoured by the boys, never even had a chance to try it. Also didn't have a chance to have the sticky rice, but wife and children said it was good. Also got mixed vegetables, also tasty. We were in a hurry and let them know and they were kind enough to bring things out quickly. So good for that.
So everything we had was great. The items that were spicy were pretty spicy, so be aware. I happen to like spicy foods and I didn't need to adjust it up, which is saying something.
Bottom line, it was a fine dinner, pretty reasonably priced. Service was quick. And I love Thai food, this is one of the better Thai places I've been to in awhile. Nice to find it in Wells. read more
