Milk shakes are bloody good. So much taste, I think the vanilla shake is one of the best in Melbs.read more

The garden centre has a large shop selling more homewares than gardening products, though there appeared to be a decent, if not extensive, range of products. The rest of the garden centre has a broad range of plants of all sorts, shapes, sizes and varieties. It was pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon so they must be doing something right! The staff were approachable, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. But we were there for lunch - actually a second visit because our first time was so enjoyable. Even the very short walk to the cafe from the gardening centre is pleasant - quaint little bridges over a duck pond with plenty of ducks to entertain children and adults alike. A slight hill with a tarmac path (OK for wheelchairs and the elderly) leads through a tranquil display to the entrance of the cafe. First impressions are misleading - decking to the left overlooking the duck pond and a small seated area inside. Then through the seated area is a covered, outdoors area that's huge! ...leading to even more outdoor seated area with sunshades if needed. Food and drink choices are varied and all look and sound wonderful! We enjoyed our choices of pulled pork, and turkey sandwich (with cranberry and brie cheese). There's plenty of room for prams and high chairs are available. Staff are attentive, friendly and helpful.

This cafe stands out from the many options available on the Terrace in Warrandyte. Its stands out…read morequite literally actually, as outdoor seating among the tree's divides the multilevel car park. Grab a table on the small balcony for a view of the Yarra River and passing by traffic but also because of the friendly and relaxed service. The breakfast menu of this no-frills cafe is somewhat limited, but you will find something to temp you. I has scrambled eggs on sourdough bread with tomato and the most unique onions. They were green tinted. They tasted like a slightly sweetened version of BBQ onions. Strange yes, but it all worked. My breakfast companions were equally happy with the big hearty breakfast and an egg dish. Although seeing the pancakes head out made us rethink our choice. The coffee is good and the menu varied. The cafe itself doesn't look like much, but it delivers a filling breakfast among the tree's.

My favourite is the Thick shake with double chocolate and double malt it arrives in a large stainless container and is simply the best. The last time I visited I asked for peanut butter to be added to this mix - simply fantastic. I have taken friends and family to believe the hype that I have given to this place - all have responded in the same way and been back for more. As far as the food is concerned large portions of very good quality food reasonably priced, staff are very helpful and service is very good - it appears to be a family owned business. Eat inside or under cover outside, lots of poeple watching opportunites from the elevated terrace.

*****Vegans / Lactose Intolerants beware!…read more Popped into this cafe a week or so ago to grab some drinks with my mum and sister. My sister ordered her drink, and as my mum and I are vegan, we asked for a soy milk latte & soy milk iced chai, no dairy ice-cream / cream etc (putting a big emphasis on NO dairy). Then we asked the two women working if any of the cakes were vegan as well. Owner / cook confirmed that they weren't so we didn't get any. (Second time it was emphasised no dairy to staff) When putting order into the till, the staff kept getting flustered so we again, confirmed with them the order and our dietary / vegan requirements. (Third time confirming they understood no dairy) Soy iced chai came out with a huge scoop of ice-cream floating on top. I gave them the benefit of the doubt & tasted it and realised it was DAIRY. Brought it to the attention of the staff / owner who brushed it off as "some people just prefer a lighter milk with the drinks" but yet not taking into account that adding full cream dairy ice-cream to the drink would contradict that anyway. I have been a strict vegan for years and it was truly horrible to see these women brush off the fact that they had served me this product like it was no big deal. It's bad enough that they used ice-cream made from the product of a sickening industry after I made sure it wouldn't be present , but it sickens me knowing that if I were lactose intolerant I would have become very very ill from this and they didn't have any regard for it. In the end, they offered me a free drink which I refused multiple times due to the negative experience & general dislike of the service / management but the overpowering, forceful owner decided she'd do what she wanted and gave me a random iced coffee anyway. I understand mistakes happen, but this whole experience was just really frustrating and saddening so definitely won't be going back.
