Buckley Street has no shortage of breakfast and brunch offerings, and North & Eight is a strong contender for the top spot. Set among the warehouse-chic decor is a high quality offering of food that encompasses both naughty and nice.
Heading up the naughty list would be the Northella Houseshake. This sugar-heavy concoction features hazelnut and chocolate flavoured milk, a heavy dosing of chocolate syrup, topped with a Nutella-filled doughnut to complete the indulgence. While delicious, a word of warning: don't attempt to consume alongside one of the menu's five burger offerings or you will succumb to food coma.
Let's talk about burgers. Choose from the Wagyu Cheeseburger; pickles, lettuce, ketchup and mustard; the Soft Shell Crab Burger; slaw, herbs, sriracha mayo and peanuts; the Korean Fried Chicken Burger; sriracha mayo, maple, leaves, kimchi and slaw; the Vietnamese Sticky Pork Belly Burger; slaw, hoisin mayo and pickled carrots; or North & Eight's house burger; wagyu patty, crispy onion string, American cheddar, brie & a creamy horseradish sauce on brioche bun. This burger-obsessed writer who believes that all burgers should be served with a large portion of tomato sauce can verify that the horseradish sauce on the latter is a revelation and proved her to be incorrect.
For a lighter meal, try the Polenta Chips with Mushroom Ragout, served with poached egg, mushroom dukkha, crispy enoki mushrooms and micro salads and available in both vegan and gluten free options. read more
