Generally good massage. And some of their masseuse are well trained. One of the owner I believe, sometimes works on Sunday is a bit pushy when it comes to marking sales, not a pleasant person to deal with. The biggest feedback I have for them is their bathroom. They never put a soap, only hand sanitizer which kills germs yes, but not a fluid to wash your hands. Came in for a couples massage (they're doing a 1 hr special for 99$) and we were ushered in to a quiet relaxing room. The team did a great job untying the knots on our upper backs and shoulders while making sure the pressure level was comfortable to us. I also found out their prices for the weekdays are different and discounted compared to what it says on their website! We left feeling very relaxed and commented on how light our backs felt to when we first walked in. There was a part in the massage where they focused on our knots and really made sure they were undone before moving onto the next part of the massage. I'm going to take partial blame for my experience because I should've kept my expectations low and did my research for what kind of massage place this really was.... but still, I will not come back. Pros: + Groupon deal for really cheap 1 hr. massage. + Clean + Staff was nice and friendly Cons: + 3/4 walls to section off areas so don't expect real privacy. It's not going to be a nice warm room with relaxing music and essential oils. You can hear other people and they can hear you. + Beds were covered with a piece of paper and a single white sheet. My clothes sat sadly in a pile on the floor in a dark corner.. + No paper or interview in the beginning of the session. I did not get to go over what areas I want worked on/not worked on.... I didn't get to talk about pressure, what I wanted, etc. Made for a pretty awkward session because my therapist came in, asked "one hour?" and I said "yes" and he got started with a pretty deep massage...and the entire time I had to adjust his pressure and the way he was doing things. I think he spent 40 mins on my back and 15 mins on arms, legs, neck, head combined. I blame myself for not speaking up more but at some point, I felt like I was already giving so many directions that I was like "whatever, let's just get this over with." -- and THAT is not something you want going through your head during a supposed relaxing massage. My massage therapist used his forearm for part of the massage...even with the massage oil, I could feel his arm hair scratching against my skin. Not pleasant. He also used the same repetitive motion that ended up hurting me more than relaxing me. He was a very nice man.... I just did not like his massaging style at all. + No water afterwards! Overall, you get what you paid for. It's cheap and if you're looking for something to just work out the knots after a long week, this will get the job done. I've been coming here off and on for three years. The staff is always warm and welcoming, the space is very clean, all staff continue to wear mask, and COVID cleaning procedures remain in place. Services are top notch, even better than more expensive spas I've frequented in NOVA. Prices are very reasonable, 60 min=$60, can add hot stones for an additional $10. Other enhancements are available-I haven't tried those yet, but I do suggest trying hot stone at least once. It's a very nice addition to the massage. I have been a regular customer for the past 2 years. I need really deep tissue massages and will go to the ends of the earth to find the right massage therapist. Once I find him/her, they have secured my business for years to come. I had to go through various therapists at STM to finally find the one I LOVED! Others were too soft, technique was bad, did not know what they were doing, etc. However, when I came across Lisa I was hooked. Lisa had wonderful pressure. She always used her elbows to dig in deep into my muscles and it felt heavenly. Every week, she knew exactly what I needed and addressed the areas that needed the most attention. I was a devout Lisa follower for the next two years. However, a couple months ago I got the most depressing news... Lisa left and went back to China! I was so shocked and saddened. Each time I call to make an appointment I ask for Lisa in hopes that she decided to return. Unfortunately I have not found another Lisa-like therapist at STM. I did find two therapists at another establishment but a couple weeks later it ended when they were bought out by another owner. So the search continues! read more

BEWARE: This location of the Springfield Therapeutic Massage inside the Springfield Mall was not a good experience. Went there for a walk-in massage and noted the staff sitting around idle in the waiting area playing on their iPhones. Did not seem immediately motivated to provide service and there were some fluency issues. Short duration massage provided service was just not that great. What was more concerning was upon checkout, the male staff member "swiped" my credit card below the visible counter level for the sale. Within a short time, I received alerts from my bank that this same credit card had potential fraud activity immediately after last use at this location. My bank advised the credit card had been "skimmed" and blocked further fraud attempts and re-issued the card. read more

Linda takes her time and she follows instructions. The rest are there. I've noticed that others there are always moving fast where you can't really relax. Was in the area and saw some positive reviews regarding a mall spa. Place is clean and relaxing. Positives end there. The lady at the front desk was not very welcoming and almost rude. Regardless, I paid for a "sports massage" and was given a lukewarm and somewhat painful swedish. I even reiterated to the tech before the massage this and areas that needed attention and she just ignored it or didn't understand. Tech used lotion and no oils and furthemore, did not wipe cold lotion off of body when finished either. Price online was cheaper than what was stated at the store for an hour. After mentioning this to the lady in the front, she said, "I told her to do sports massage" as if that was believable and that they didn't update the website. BE VERY CAREFUL with the Yelp coupon for this "place". Not only did the business FULLY decline to fulfill the voucher as outlined, the "receptionist" was extremely rude and indignant. The voucher specifically says $49 for $90 of services. Instead, the business had very specific stipulations for redemption and repeatedly attempted to quote prices that were in direct contradiction of their posted price list. When I requested to just have my money refunded, I was given three different poorly written gift certificates (one with a lessened monetary value and another with an expired date). She further mentioned that she didn't care if I never came back. On a services note, the rooms are next to a current construction area which is less than relaxing and completely distracting. Keep in mind - this is a typical Asian place where most people don't speak much English, so if you'd like a real technical massage (sport massage, myofascial release, etc...), this might not be the place for you. Also, they will massage your face, nose, temple, ears, toes, and fingers no matter which massage you get, so be prepared for that. With that said, I got a deep-tissue massage and the experience was better than I expected. I highly recommend Jack, since he used a lot of pressure and was very throughout. I could've done without the typical arm/leg bending/yanking manual adjustment though. He was otherwise fantastic, especially around the shoulder region. Atmosphere wise, this place is HOT. I was sweating balls underneath the blanket. It felt like there was no air circulation at all. Also the walls are thin, so you can hear directly what's being said as well as the chopping motion in the next room. I gave it 3 star because of that, and also because my appointment was at 6:30, I was not seen until 6:40 and Jack took time out of my 1 hour spot. In general, I'd recommend this place if you can get a session for a cheaper deal without much expectation. I will be coming back as long as they still have $45-50/hour rate as they do now. read more

The masseuse I had was Jason, and he was great. I really need a deep kneading and he was strong. I also like how they offer different styles of massages. The price is reasonable. On this second 60 min massage, although it was decent, she never asked what my issues or areas of concentration were. I also got the added aromatherapy package ($5 extra) but that is not what I'm accustomed to. The add the oil to your backside only. No smelling or inhaling and not on the front side either. Great massages! It's $60 for a 60 minute massage (any type). I go for the deep tissue. They are not afraid to go deep. Make sure you tell them to lighten up if needed otherwise you might be sore for two days. The experience: you can make an appointment or walk-in if you don't have any preference on therapist. You will be taken back to the room with your therapist. There's really not any intake/consultant, so make sure you speak up if you need a particular area of focus. Therapist leaves and you undress to your undies. Some rooms are separated by 3/4 wall partitions, others have regular walls. You might hear minimal speaking in the neighboring room but this has never been distracting for me. Therapist comes back and begins your massage. Once massage is over, the therapist disappears and goes on to their next client, so you won't have a debrief. There is a water cooler in the waiting area, so help your self to it. Cash tips are preferred. All and all, this is a great place to get massage therapy done. If you are looking for a "spa experience" (robes, steam room, etc) you will need to consider alternatives. read more

I had a woman name Linda and I loved the massage! I personally like a lot of pressure during my massage and she delivered! The thing I liked though is that she wasn't using a lot of pressure the entire time, it varied from soft pressure to hard pressure and she mixed it up so it wasn't intense the entire time. Yes, the walls are 3/4, but during the massage I didn't really hear any noise except the soothing background music. Two Very unpleasant experience to say the least 1. I bought a Groupon for 55 minutes message but these people have trouble honoring my purchase. The deal was for clients to book Monday through Friday at specific hours. When I called to schedule I was told by the manager that I can't book with a specific masseuse because I have a Groupon. She went on to tell me that it's not fair for the masseuse to book a client with Groupon. She made me feel like my money doesn't worth her time. Mind you the deal I got from Groupon is cheaper with only $10. If they don't want honor the deal, they shouldn't have entertain the idea. This people are a scam and very inappropriate. I have already reported them to Groupon and I am telling everyone I know to not put a step their foot in this place. Very unprofessional and inappropriate. 2. The last time I was there, they didn't have a single room so they put me in a room with two massage tables. I was told I will be the only one in the room. In the middle of my massage session they close the curtain and put another person on the table. It made me super uncomfortable to be in a room with a stranger divided in curtain. This is rough but my body feels more strained than when I went in for a 'relaxing massage'. This place is like a massage factory. Not inviting at all! Lesson learned - I will never buy a massage deal on Groupon. Not worth it. I was greeted right away about the fact that my purchase was through Groupon, so seems this is where they get most of their customers. I was taken through the door to a hall way which looked like a dressing room - curtains hiding each massage room. I was asked to take off everything in a whispering voice, so as to not disturb the others in the "dressing rooms" next door while they were getting their massages. It felt like 30 seconds later that a masseuse popped in to check that I had stripped down. She didn't introduce herself, so I can't tell you her name. I was never asked what type of massage and had no idea what technique was being used. It was not a welcoming environment so I didn't ask until after the massage to the receptionist and she said it was Swedish. The masseuse never asked how the pressure was. She just kept pressing down on lower back - which is where she spent most of the hour. Not much attention given to shoulders or neck, which is where the tension mostly was. You are in private 'rooms' that dont' have doors, just curtains, and the walls don't go to the ceiling (by design i suppose) so you can hear everything in every room. The streaming music is nice, but it must be free Pandora or free Spotify b/c it has commercials! So imagine this, you're getting a mediocre massage (at best), you're wondering if it's going to get better (but it doesn't) so you tell yourself 'well at least the place is brand new, uber clean and fresh and the music is very relaxing....the bam, you get hit with a radio commercial for used cars from some local dealership. Seriously? The couldn't fork out 10 bucks a months for Pandora or Spotify to avoid the commercials? By chance, I saw Mia at this establishment and am so glad I did. I found Springfield Therapeutic Massage (STM) through a Groupon offer. The only other massage place I have visited inside of a mall was Refresh Massage (which I would also recommend). Regardless, STM is located on the ground floor of the newly renovated Springfield Mall to the left of Target. I bought a Groupon for a 1-hour massage after having first called STM to confirm that I could get an appointment the next morning. I just wanted a massage and was willing to call around to the various places that were offering Groupon or Living Social offers. I arrived, was greeted, helped immediately with the check-in process, and was taken to a private kind of partitioned room. (note: The rooms are open at the top, and thin-walled so you can easily hear what's happening around you.) I got ready, hopped on the massage table, and awaited what would soon be one of the greatest massages I have received to date. Mia was the person who attended to me. She was amazing. She came in, asked about the areas I'd like to concentrate, as well as the kind of pressure I preferred and any sensitive areas to include previous surgical spots or injury areas to be mindful of. Once all that was explained, she proceeded to give me a very relaxing massage. It was so relaxing that I had to fight falling asleep a couple times. I also recall feeling early in the massage that I really wanted to extend my massage session to keep the relaxed feelings going. As luck would have it, I was able to tack on an extra half-hour to my one-hour massage. Mia was extremely thoughtful and thorough in her therapeutic approach. Despite the lack of auditory privacy I would prefer in a massage establishment, I have already booked another session with Mia and can see becoming a regular with her as long as she is there. That being said, I'd give the overall establishment itself 3 stars due to the privacy issues, but because of the massage I received from Mia, SMT gets a 5-star review from me. read more

Got groupon for me and hubby. I love getting massages because I have some hard knots that needs to be taken out. I've been to many places from 5 star hotel spa to a hole in the wall in Chinatown. If you are the kind if person that likes to be pampered with music, lighting, and privacy this is not for you. However if you are someone who can handle pain and really need someone with strong hands to release your tension, stress and knots...you will dig this place. I got Jason and he was great. I told him my shoulders and back hurt sometimes and when he felt it he knew he had his work cut out. Well the five star is because he did a wonderful job taking out my knot, and I kid u not when I say my back came in feeling like a brick wall and came out feeling like jello. Now I can handle the pain, but I know to some this is not what they want. Just be sure to tell them what kind of pressure you want. The only thing I didn't like is the private rooms are not enclose rather cubicle looking. You can hear every conversation everyone is having.
