Bartenders had an attitude when ordering drinks for asking simple questions and bouncers were aggressive when leaving before closing

The bartenders seemed miserable. I asked something about the food (which is outrageously expensive; $80 for chicken tenders and some fries?!) and the guy snapped at me. Also I wish there was a place to rest. If you didn't pay for a booth you had to stand. I got there early so I stood on my feet, in heels, for 4 hours straight. I would give it a 5 star rating but every time I come here, the bartenders be taking advantage of the people who are drunk. My wife went to get a Hennessy with ice, and a cup of tap water, bartender comes back and says total is 38 dollars, originally the Hennessy is like 17-18 bucks, bartender tried to take advantage thinking my wife was drunk. Be careful when ordering your drinks cuz they will over charge you it's happened all the time when I go there and it's pretty sad they being doing some shady stuff like that. Don't be afraid to ask how much each item is so you won't get scammed like that. But the venue it's self is really cool, they always got worldwide known Djs coming in every weekend! Depending whose performing it can be chill vibes (E.g Plur vibes) and at time you get them annoying/tough macho men/women thinking they own the dance floor. Overall it's a dope ass EDM venue in SD. Ticket pricing is always affordable if you snatch them early enough. read more

We saw DJ Pauly D and for 2 old ladies, we had a wonderful time. The staff worked their butts off, especially the VIP servers.

I just came to the taylor rave and overall the experience was not great....the staff is not trained properly and the company should invest in better management. We were told by multiple security guards that due to the type of event there was open seating. We were sitting for a long while with no issues until the manager Tiante said we were not allowed to be seated but when we walked around there were multiple tables without bottle service seated but we were the only ones he targeted when we were only seated because my 60 year old mother attended to celebrate a birthday. Afterwards we moved spots for the rest of the night..there was one gentleman who took some pictures for us who was absent amazing and a sweetheart, however as the evening came to an end we needed to go down to the first floor to close a tab. As we attempted to go down the stairs from the 2nd floor not exit the building as we needed to close a tab, there was a young guy who rudely approached my family saying that we were not allowed to finish drinks that were 30 dollars each and proceeded to try to take it and throw it away without consent. Mind you we were not attempting to leave the buildings with alcohol. We requested a manager (an Asian female) who said we were ok to finish our drinks on our way to close out. My brother did let her know that they should let the man who was giving us an issue that he needs to know the proper protocol. As he was speaking to her he was behind her making faces and sticking his tongue out. This was roughly at 1:45 am on the 2nd floor to the right of the DJ if management would like to hold the said employee accountable. She proceeded to defend the guy acting unprofessionally and I did let her know as a manager myself that she is poorly trained. After an evening if celebrating a loved ones birthday I am sitting in the car at 2:09 am writing this review. I would really appreciate to hear what further actions will be taken to reprimand the man who was acting inappropriately as a business of this stature should should be represented by employees who are aware of company policies and procedures. read more

Changed the name of the institution - well, inviting cool DJs is great. The fact that you let too many people into the club so that it is impossible to dance on the dance floor and feels like a sardine in a can does not make your club more than one star. Formerly known as Omnia, this place was rebranded by Insomniacs to be Nova. Parking situation is awful, but it's to be expected since it's in downtown. Came here to see Zedd about a month or so ago and my experience was okay. Dance floor was really crowded but luckily, I was standing underneath one of the fans so I wasn't suffocating. There's 3 floors and you can hear the music clearly from all of them. The drinks were alright and a bit expensive, which is standard for a nightclub. All in all, Nova is a pretty standard EDM club. Went here for the first time yesterday. This place sucks lol. $20 a drink with weak pours. The Bearded security guy at the door, Needs to know he's a door man and nothing more. . I won't be going back here and anyone I talk to agrees this place is wack. No shorts in San Diego? Yikes. Get with the times. This is an edm club in San Diego not Vegas lol. Celebrated my 21st birthday with friends here and we all had an amazing time! Not only did our VIP host Mark (@mab_novasd) accommodate all of our requests, he was also looking out for us the entire night to ensure we all felt comfortable and safe. We got a balcony table and it was set up with cranberry juice, orange juice, water, lime, glassware etc. when we arrived. We also had our own dancing space with a nice view of everything. I honestly had the best night of my life at the sever house lineup this pass weekend that Night Trip presented to us. Went to the second floor and security let us into the VIP section towards the end of the night. Star was friendly, security was straight forward with their rules and instructions. Only way i see this place getting bad reviews is if people don't know how to handle their liquor and compose themselves when going out! read more

I just attended an event for my birthday with my family and we had the worst experience I've ever had. My brother in law was finishing a drink as the night came to an end and there was a guy who was purposely taunting my family after he attempted to take a drink from us when we were still on the 2nd floor not leaving the establishment . A manager was involved and condoned the employees actions instead of acting as a manager and acknowledging the employees negative actions. We were not belligerent which is why management presence was requested because we were being treated as if we did something wrong. I really hope that we are able toto receive an update on the situation from upper management or corporate as this experience was completely unacceptable read more

Such an amazing vibe! I went for the first time to celebrate a friends birthday! We we're greeted by the friendly VIP Host Team, Marc & Steven. The beautiful hostesses, Sam, checked us in, and Destiny had graciously walked us to our table. ZEDD was the artist for the night. The energy in the crowd was already popping. Our server Elysia, offered great suggestions for a birthday presentation with Champagne & Tequila for our large group. We Love Perrier Jouet so we ordered the Rose Magnum & Claze Azul Magnum. Her assistants Gio & Brianna made sure everyone was having a great time with a full glass or shot in hand. They had a tasty food menu so we ordered the chicken karaage, mixed vegetable tempura and the truffle fries too. Absolutely delicious!! The experience was incredible!! I went to check out Loud Luxury at Nova and let me tell you this club is something else. The crowd that night was very friendly and well dressed. The bartenders kept the drinks flowing and I had a great time with my girls. Loud Luxury dropped a crazy set and I was lost in the music and the club's visuals. I was very impressed. My promoter Benny was extremely thorough when I asked him questions about the new spot and I highly recommend reaching out to him if you want to come here. I regularly like to go to NOVA & usually am always treated great. But this last weekend I got helped by a girl named Arlene Aleman & she was absolutely terrible. She kept forgetting to bring our drinks & every time I tried to kindly remind her about them she would have a horrible attitude with us. It's not like we were just ordering one drink for hours, we were actually there to spend money. Then when it was time for the check she basically just threw it at us & she charged us for all the drinks she forgot & never brought out. At this point, we were all really frustrated with our experience so we asked to speak to a manager & she told us she was the manager & there was no one else to speak to. I never write reviews, & if I do I prefer to write positive reviews. But this time I really couldn't not say anything. I went for a concert and the parking was an absolute nightmare, drinks were absurdly over priced, and it was over sold. Ended up leaving early because there was 0 space. Last weekend I showed up on Friday with some friends for a Bachelor party, 4B was headlining that night! The atmosphere was great, the music was loud, and the lighting was amazing. My friends and I decided to get a table and it was definitely the right choice! Our servers and waitresses were amazing and even came out with a custom sign for our friend that was getting married. All in all, if you're looking for a great experience at a nightclub with fantastic service and state of the art production, Nova is the place to be. Some nights can be expensive depending on which headliners are playing so I recommend getting table service to get the most bang for your buck and skip the lines! read more

Great artist and amazing rooftop. Came to see Kayzo last night this is my first time at this club but i have been to other insomniac clubs in LA. Let me start off by saying the staff is horrible the bouncer and the inside staff are just the rudest people I've ever come into contact with associated with insomniac. The club was packed no matter where we stood we were constantly told to move or that this was not a place to stand by different bouncers. So where would you like me to stand if the one on the left moved me more right and vice versa. The bouncers telling people there's more room on the rooftop umm yea that's great but now there's a completely different type of music happening up here. I came for the artist inside and you don't even have speakers or TVs showing what's happening down there. All the people who paid and moved to the top and wanted to see the artist i feel bad for because they didn't even get to see him play because of the terrible staff and the terrible communication between them. The rooftop is gorgeous and is a great break away from the heat inside since you basically have to be shoulder to shoulder with someone since you're not sure where to go. Definitely would not come up under those circumstances. I thought being taken over by insomniac i expected a different level of customer service as what I'm used to at other insomniac clubs. I ended up leaving early because my friends were over it and i couldn't get a spot to stand even for myself. read more

Very good lineup every weekend but this place is terrible!! I've been to nova at least 5 times already. The drinks are a joke!! The drinks taste has so little alcohol in it, you could barely taste it and they will charge you at least 15 dollars for a weak ass drink. When the dance floor is packed, you can't even stand by the bar or near the bar. The security will tell you to move when you got nowhere to go to. The people who go to nova are so freaking rude! They always be pushing and elbowing you and the security don't do anything about it. They keep letting people go into the dance room when there's no room!!!! Easily the worst Insomniac club I've been to. Security profiled tf out of my friend, probably the tattoos but he's never been gropped like that in his life. Rooftop is 90% closed off so why even have a rooftop. Only one way in and one way out of the dance floor, and security makes sure to be rude about letting you know that. There's a lot of useless employees/promotors/security not doing anything just standing staring people down. Do they train anyone here to smile? This is a club, people go here to have fun. If I wanted shitty energy id go to the dmv. Oh and production uses the stupid fog machines during the best drops. FOG DOES NOTHING FOR MY EXPERIENCE. I always have a great experience at Nova; been here quite a few times since opening. I decided to write a review this time after SNBRN to shout out the EMTs at Nova. My girlfriend was not feeling well after some drinks and the EMTs immediately came through and made us feel comfortable and taken care of. I spoke to Hilario Rattler who ultimately decided that our best option was to leave early for the night and I agreed with him. Rudest staff ever especially the security guards. The staff yells at you for almost everything: men get yelled at for waiting in line with their girlfriends, they tell at you if you lean in on something, if you make yourself a drink at the table etc. They charge 20+ dollar for CUTWATER cocktail.
