I'm so sad to put a 1 star review because so many of my friends recommended this nail salon and I was very excited to try it out but was so disappointed. Starting out, I had an appointment for me and my mom but they didn't take my mom until about 30 minutes past the appointment time, and they didn't even take me at the same time so I sat and watched her get her nails done for an hour and then she had to sit and wait for mine to get done so that was definitely a bummer. My manicure was rushed and pretty streaky and sloppy. The color needed another coat but wasn't applied. Also when I put my hand under the blue light gel setting thing, I would put my hand in there for like 10 seconds and my nail tech would gesture me to bring it back out. It was under there such a short amount of time and I thought that was weird but figured they knew what they were doing. My gell manicure started peeling not even 24 hours later. I spent like $75 or something like that and both my mom and my nails were completely ruined in a couple of days. Not to mention, while I was there, two of the techs got into a fight and were screaming at eachother, while still doing nails at the same time. They were literally yelling at eachother in front of customers while doing their nails. That was very uncomfortable and unprofessional. read more

We have been seeing Donna for manyyy years prior to her joining Nail by Tracy's Salon...to say that she is our favorite go to for both nails and pedicures in Carson City would be an understatement! Not only is this a 2 to 3 week get my pretty designed nails with monthly pedicures, my husband partakes in her ahhhmazing spa pedicures too! Pedicures for both my husband and I are ahhhmazing, relaxing and just pure zen!! Best part she gives the best mini leg and foot massage and her attention to detail is amazing!!! Bring on the warm towel to wrap up your toes, feet and lower legs - yep that's the stuff!! Did I mention that my Daughter found Donna first anddd loved her SO MUCH that other family to include step-Mom and Mother-in-law even has been pampered by her. Heck several female coworkers of my hubby's even have followed Donna to her new digs - she's the BESTEST!! The salon decorated cute and is very clean: each station is sanitized between clients with all staff wearing gloves and masks pre-covid and still, pedicure chairs are sanitized with foot bins having disposable plastic liners for every use. The service I was receiving was great! However I called and texted for an appointment and never received a call or text back. plus the last appointment I had with them, the owner seemed to be rude saying "is that good enough for you?". They are unwelcoming and seem to be more interested in their phone then customer service. Meh. I found this place randomly while I was shopping in the center. Cute little place but the quality I got was meh. The shape of the nails were wrong, there was glue all over my finger tips and one nail was crooked. I did not complain out of respect but I certainly would not go again or recommend it to anyone. I feel like it was a waste of money. I had to go 4 days later for a fill to cover them up. My regular nail lady was appalled at the nails I had and had to correct the ombré that was attempted and replace the crooked one. There was one tech in there who was very sweet and friendly but the other two could care less about their customers or work. read more

Went in for a quick manicure. Customer service was great. They don't have the gel nail painted set so you have to pick from the bottle. My only downside. My nails could've been filed a tee wee better but they are nicer than before so I don't want to complain. I wanted so badly to leave Tracy and her team an amazing review, but sadly my 3 visits there were less than what I expected. I do want to start by saying the staff is very friendly and accommodating where they can be but not very professional. Visit 1: came in with my daughter to get our nails done before Halloween. I wanted to get tips and she encouraged me to get dip powder, which I've never tried. For a few days after my nails felt sooo tight like someone was pulling on them but I figured this was just how powder works. I also noticed Tracy would take phone calls but never write any appts down in her schedule. I figured she must have an excellent memory. Tracy and Donna were very accommodating with my daughter and both our nails looked amazing! I couldn't wait to come back. Visit 2: my nails were really beginning to grow out and I had heard dip powder is harder to remove the longer you wait, so I called on a wednesday to schedule a Saturday appt for myself. Walked in at my appt time Saturday afternoon and Tracy asked if I had an appt. I said yes and she seemed confused, asked me to come back in an hour. I said nope we talked the other day I'll just wait! They were able to squeeze me in and I had 2 different technicians helping me out. Took 40 min to get the dip powder removed! Donna did a nice job with my gel mani but my nails were visibly damaged (I usually have strong nails!) so I knew I wouldn't be doing powder again. Visit 3: I made it a point to set this next appt in person so I could see her write it in the book. I scheduled one for my daughter and I on a Saturday at 1pm. Once the time came, we walked in and she said our appt was at 11?!? That was the last straw for me! We ended up waiting 30 min and were seen by Jien who did a great job with our manis and pedis. Tracy said she could use dip powder to bring one of my broken nails up to length with the others and I implored her to please not use it -- she did it anyway! At that point I knew this would be our last visit. Again I really wish I could've given a better review because I love supporting local businesses but this place just missed the mark. Called Nova Nails and Spa 3 weeks ago to try and make an appointment. I have my Graduation coming up in two days and so I needed to get all appointments set and scheduled early for peace of mind. I had to call this salon 9 times over the span of four days just to get them to answer. When I finally reached them on June 9th, I scheduled an appointment at 2:30pm for June 22nd. June 22nd comes around. I rush to get off work and drive 40 minutes to this establishment to make my appointment. I get there, go inside and am completley ignored and not acknowledged for 10 minutes. There was only one client in the place, super slow, yet they didn't say a word. Finally I let them know I'm here for my 2:30pm appointment. She looked at me confused and checked her book. She said "Christyna?" And I said Yes! she said oh..... the lady isn't here. She was tired so she took the day off. What!?! I get no call. No apology. Nothing. I let her know how important this appointment is as my graduation is in two days and she still turned me away. WORST NAIL ESTABLISHMENT EVER. read more

The nail tech that helped me was rude, did not speak to me other than to tell how much I owed her and she watched a show on her phone the entire time she did my pedicure. 2 weeks ago I called made an appointment for this morning. I went in about 5 minutes before my appointment. When I walked in both women looked up like a deer in headlights ~ sort of a confused look on their faces. I said I was here for my 10AM appointment. The women behind the desk said that someone didn't show up and they could not take me now, but later today. I was very disappointed and told her I would call back once I verified my schedule. When I called back less than an hour later the woman on the phone said they were closed today. I explained I was the the person who was just in the shop with the appointment and I wanted to find out what available time I could get in today. She repeated herself and said they were closed today through Thursday. I have not been talked to this way ever. If you don't need my business, fine but no reason to be rude and lie. She takes pride in her work she does great artwork and she has all the latest styles and products! I came from out of town for a family graduation and decided at the last minute to get my toes and nails done since my state has not opened such services which in my opinion is craxy. Especially if they could see how clean and careful this salon is. Tracy was so friendly and accommodating. My Uber was 15 mibs late and she took me anyway which I truly appreciate. My peticure was nicely done and relaxing. My fill was expertly done and I am so pleased with the service and friendliness of everyone. I plan to come back in a few weeks with my Mom. I'm still somewhat new to the area and not sure where to go to get my nails done. I also waited until the last minute to try and get a pedicure, so the places with better ratings were full. I decided to give Nova Nails a shot and was disappointed. I'm used to having new files, scrubbers, and sanitized tools used by my nail techs. At previous salons they always open a sanitary package of nail tools and the files and buffers have also been brand new. At Nova, nothing was new. The items used on me came out of a drawer with multiple other files, scrubbers, clippers, etc., that looked old and used. When my nail tech was finished with each item, back in the drawer it went. I also didn't see any certificates/licenses posted, but I could have missed them? The pedicure on the whole is just ok. I did get the basic pedicure, so wasn't expecting extras, but the massage was not there and while she did clip my cuticles, she didn't clean under the toenails, and my cuticles still look dry. I've never left a nail appointment where ai was just generally concerned with the cleanliness of the shop. I won't be going back. read more
