I called Thomaston Power Equipment and explained the situation and they suspected the issue is related to fuel gunk in the system. Most recently they took little interest in our somewhat small but important problem with tires for the riding mower we purchased here -- very satisfactorily -- some years back. In fact their only interest seemed to be in getting us to buy a new one. They didn't appear to be at all concerned about our urgency; in fact, they just didn't seem like they cared much. We don't think it's just us -- a neighbor reported almost the same treatment last month. Our next mower/equipment purchased will not come from Goff.

I guess it's my fault for not getting a firm commitment on price and window. I know the zerks were greased because the technician who did the work didn't bother to wipe off the grease, which is something that should be second nature to a good mechanic. M&H were recommended by a friend who just the other day told me he's having doubts about them, too.
