The teachers are very attentive, fostering a nurturing and supportive environment where students can thrive. It's a small school, they have limits and a lack of resources like a lack of sports. However, the school truly prioritizes every child's well-being, both academically and emotionally. My kids didn't learn drugs or substances. Never experienced violence. Teachers watched them and intervened for the kinds of provocative situations. We got enough for what we paid for. Overall, it was a good decision for our kids.

To Lauralton Alma Mater, our loyal pledge is yours~…read more Is it weird that I have dreams of being back in Lauralton? I hate waking up. My high school years were the best of my life and I miss the community so so so much. This school gave me the foundation I needed to succeed in the world and I think I'm doing pretty darn well. The teachers were (and still are) into their students. They wanted us to be the best we could and never hesitated to stay after school to help us. I'm tearing up thinking about it. I could go on and on, but let me cut it short with this: if I ever have daughters, I'm seriously considering moving back to Connecticut.

They have ruined the senior year of girls graduating in 2018 by putting their current financial crisis on them. They are too young to suffer such a burden. Instead of enjoying their senior year, they have had to worry that unless the school raises 2.25 million immediately for a near term cash crisis, that terrible things such as possible school closure might occur.

Susanna Wesley School is a wonderful and nurturing environment for young children. The teachers are…read moreextremely committed to their jobs. They ensure success by fostering an environment that helps children learn and grow. Their dedication to the children is unsurpassed. I am a mother of 2 children, who are both currently enrolled in the school. I cannot say enough about Susanna Wesley (aka SWS) and it's staff. One of the most unique attributes of the school is the dedicated Music and Movement program, in which children participate through music and physical activity each day they are in school. The teacher who runs that program is an absolute jewel and SWS is so blessed to have her on board. As a parent, I feel welcomed and a true part of my child's early childhood education. I know my children are getting the best care and academic foundation to prepare them for elementary school. I love that there are dedicated classrooms for each level (3 yr olds, 4 yr olds,etc.). No more than 12 students per class. I thought that was a huge plus because the smaller classrooms allow the children to focus and build relationships with other children. I have noticed how much my children have grown. They are confident, independent and respectful of others. Though I'd like to take full credit on that, I know much of those skills have been gained from the caring teachers at SWS. I encourage you to contact the director and tour the Susanna Wesley School. You will not be disappointed!!!!

Compared to Stratford High, the other high school in town, Bunnell was definitely better! I can…read moreonly speak for the time I attended, so as of the year 2001, Bunnell was prettier, and had a better student population than Stratford High, socioeconomically speaking. The school property was clean and well maintained. Most of the classrooms were large in size, and usually had a full-class. The laboratories and facilities were very good and well taken care of. The teachers, for the most part, were excellent. I don't have any complaints about any of them! PLUS, the "Bulldogs" (Bunnell) always kicked the "Red Devils" (Stratford H.) butt!

When I went…read morethere again in the early 90s for an evening ballroom dancing class, all the glass in the front entrance had been replaced with black plywood. And there had been a lot of glass. More black plywood was in the gym. A sign high on the gym wall announced that mooning the cheerleaders was prohibited, as was giving them the finger and cursing them. This was for the benefit of those who might have thought it was OK. When I went there again 10 years ago, the front entrance was sealed. The front office had been modified by adding a small door and stairs, and visitors entered there. After entering, visitors walked a narrow pathway with plexiglass walls, so they could be observed before gaining admittance. A police car was parked outside, right in front. I imagine police are on duty there full time these days. Driving through the parking lot, now trimmed in weeds, was no fun. It had been filled with speed bumps. Is it even possible to plow it in the winter? I had gone there to inquire about class records, to be used in planning a class reunion. They told me there were no records. Were they telling the truth, or were they just flipping me off? I don't know. I admit it sounded unlikely. Can I blame the school for reflecting the dismal societal changes that have taken place since I was a student there? I don't think so. It's just a building, after all. I must have grown up in a golden age. I had no idea what was in store.

In this current environment it is so nice to know that the teachers and staff genuinely care about the students. Both of my girls were standouts in High School. Teachers in High School would often comment that they noticed the firm grasp they had on all the educational basics and even commented that they must have not studied in the public school system. While both of my daughters have since graduated college and gone on to professional careers in tech and education, the friends they made at CLA are for life. A large majority of their fellow classmates graduated college from top institutions and also benefited from this great education. I can think of no better opportunity for any parent to watch their children blossom and grow in a caring environment, than we experienced at CLA

After being promised that my girls would leave CLA and enter honors classes at any public school, I find myself saddened by what their time at this school really produced. The teachers were portrayed to be highly qualified, but instead I found the teachers in the middle school classes unprepared with materials that were being presented. After having my girls tested in a public school, I find they are behind. My children are behind a year because of the mediocre curriculum and the unqualified teachers using it. There are profound security issues on the campus including: no guards, access to the building through unlocked and propped doors. After attempting several times to take my concerns to administration, I find the self-elected board and administration to be unresponsive. I am saddened that I had to withdraw my three girls, but can only pray and hope that Christian Life Academy will one day listen and learn from their mistakes. It is my hope by writing this painfully honest review that things will change.
