My family has been very happy with our choice in childcare. The teachers and administrators really care about the kids and provide an environment that is not only safe and warm but creative and challenging. We love the emphasis on fresh, natural foods (all food is provided/included, which is SO convenient) and outdoor play. They also do a very cool "Summer camp" program where the kids have outdoor/water play all morning every day, and the preschool/pre-K kids have several field trips. There are also occasional "bonus" events such as an end-of-summer family party and Christmas-time pajama party for the kids. I will be honest, it's not cheap, but as with all things you get what you pay for!

Also, the playgrounds are BEAUTIFUL and so much FUN. They even take the kids out in the winter which I feel like rarely happened where we went previously. I highly recommend this school!

When walking between buildings, you enjoy a park-like atmosphere, and it is so pleasant to simply sit outdoors and enjoy the surroundings and the views from the hill. As a student at Hopkins I appreciated the landscape, and as an alumna I love visiting campus for various reasons, including showing it to visiting friends as a major New Haven attraction. As a gardener myself I think all of the plantings are incredibly lovely and well-placed.

From early in my pregnancy, we did a lot of reading about day cares, visited several, but we knew when we visited Duck Pond that was where our Jack would end up. We clicked instantly with Amy, the director, who strikes the perfect balance between down-to-earth and professional. She is caring, trustworthy, and always reasonable. So we chose Duck Pond for Jack when he was a mere 2 months old, and he just had his last day there (due to moving) 2 years later. Duck Pond's atmosphere feels like family, and we loved that if we wanted to talk to someone about Jack's needs (he had an anaphylactic egg allergy for a while) or if we had scheduling or billing questions, there was no corporate infrastructure to navigate. We loved that it was a family run center, that every staff member knew Jack by name and was excited to see him in the morning. It's important to note that teacher turnover is low, which was fabulous because Jack became very attached to them. All along, I have genuinely felt that Jack was loved and cared for. But this became even more apparent as he learned to walk, and would run excitedly in in the morning, and then when he learned to talk and was able to tell us how much he loves his Duck Pond friends and teachers. We'll miss Duck Pond but remain extremely grateful for the wonderful early care they gave our son and the peace of mind they gave his parents.

I'm a public school teacher by profession, so understand the need to put my confidence in the teacher to make the right educational guidance for my son. To that end, I'm very happy with the gains my child has made in his year at the Children's House of Montessori. He has flourished socially, his self-monitoring/self-sufficient skills has been noticeably, and is even potty training well! Ha. Highly recommend taking a tour and meeting the very seasoned and dedicated teachers.
