We recently had a birthday party at the restaurant hosted by this restaurant. Food was great. A very humble place I would come here again. Service and people were friendly. read more

The food was amazing went there today for the first time!!! The wings were crispy and omg the corn bread is worth a try! I would definitely come back, the only thing was the cashier she wasn't friendly or welcoming she looked annoyed. Service and food would definitely be a 10 but they need a more welcoming employee especially at the front of their business read more

Environment was good. Service was good. Food was good as well. Pretty cool place to eat and hang out

Food was so delicious ! I was shocked because I'm usually very picky when it comes to soul food but the chicken was crispy and seasoned perfectly. I love that they use elbow noodles for the Mac and cheese. Had great favor. Red beans and rice was so bomb and we loved everything else we ordered. The location was playing oldies when we arrived to pick up our food, made us want to stay and enjoy the vibes. Only thing I'd say to improve on is the cashier. She was rude. Not sure if she was having a bad day but she definitely rolled her eyes a few times and just gave off a very unwelcoming impression. Other than that, we are sold on the food read more

Not Your Mamas Kitchen - Catfish meal and 3 piece white meat meal - Food Trucks Near Me - Ontario, California

Delicious food at a great price! The chef they have is incredible, brings a smile to my face every time i come here.

The "Not Your Mamas Kitchen" food truck came to my office today, and it's definitely not MY Mama's kitchen, I can say that much. For $13 I got fried chicken and waffles. Note that the chicken is just wings and drumsticks (no breast or thigh) which wasn't what I was expecting, but worked out just fine. They have a couple of different options for sauces - "lemon pepper" or "hot honey" - and I went for the hot honey and kind of wish that I had done it dry. Not that the hot sauce wasn't good, but the fried chicken itself was so good that it didn't really need an extra sauce and I found the sauce to be distracting. The waffles were definitely too fried and greasy for me, crispy and not fluffy at all, so next time I'd probably opt for a side instead. But, all in all, definitely a fan! read more

I tried the foodtruck as they came to my work location. They are a true Southern Style Food with really tasty fried chicken for a food truck and side of mac n cheese. You cannot go wrong. The chicken that I got was dry on certain parts but for the thigh was juicy. They really fill your plate up and make you feel like you are getting what you are paying for. read more

I've visited this truck a few times when they are in DTLA. I've ordered the fish & chicken wings. The fish uses more of a corn meal coating than a batter. It was seasoned well and tasted good. I've also ordered the chicken wings, but I made the mistake of getting it sauced up with a honey hot sauce. I was not a big fan of this. The honey with Rooster hot sauce does not go well together IMO. It was a little too tangy for me. It would have been better with tabasco. The chicken was crispy and tasted like it was cooked in lard. Next time, I'll just get them plain or maybe lemon pepper. Their rice & gravy is a little bland, so keep some salt close by. The yams was good and not too sweet. Just keep in mind that they fry everything to order, so it could be a long wait when busy. I wished they had an app where I could order before hand to do a pickup. read more

Not Your Mamas Kitchen - Party Wings w/Yans $12 - Food Trucks Near Me - Ontario, California

3.5 stars - Let me start by saying the catfish was one of the best I've tasted, light, crispy and flavorful. The Redbeans were tasty too, just a tad bit dry for my taste. Huge disappointment with the Mac n cheese, it tasted bland like krafts. Very surprised that 2 items can be so good and a big fail on the Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese is just as important as the potato salad for black people. Those two just have to be on point lol. I will definitely be back for the catfish read more

I would suggest calling ahead for take out unless you have the time to wait for a table because this place is that good! They give you a nice huge portion of love and it's always yummy! The staff is super friendly, helpful, and being as loud as it is in there, you can hear em without being yelled at and the get your order right every time! Highly recommend! read more

I do my best to support Black-owned businesses and this food truck (as the restaurant is closed) was no exception. Initially I called to find out when/if the restaurant would be opened and I was told it wouldn't. I then asked where the food truck would be, this was Sunday (10-13), and was told on Manchester and Western at 1 p.m. I got there around 1:45 p.m. and looked around, no truck (of theirs) was in sight. I went to another food truck vendor and inquired if they had seen them (as I know they ALL know-of each other) and was told no, but they're usually on the other side of the parking lot. As I drove around, I saw the food truck making its way through the parking lot to park on the street. I pulled in behind them and sat for a bit, to give them time to set-up. 2:15 p.m. rolled around and they still weren't ready. I asked how long before they open and he said "5 minutes". I knew that was a falsity, so I drove off, did a few things and returned. When I came back the man was still writing the menu on the board and setting up. He wasn't polite and seemed bothered by my presence, not to mention the truck looked filthy and unkept. I no longer wanted to order food from them, but because I had driven from so far and waited for so long, I ordered the peach cobbler. After it was dished into a container, the man just wrapped a fork in a napkin and handed everything to me through the pick-up window. I had to ask for a bag. To my amazement the cobbler was great! However, because of the poor customer service and lack of appreciation for my patronage, I will not purchase from them again. I hate to write unfavorable reviews about Black businesses, but I hold them to the same standards I hold everyone else to. Far too many times the customer service is horrible, the merchandise is overpriced and very little is given. I will save my money and bake my cobblers, next time read more

I'm born & raised in the south nearly 50 years old never in my life have I had such poorly made soul food rice severely uncooked hard as if it was plastic pellets yams definitely from a can no sweetness or Caramelization the oxtails was small pure bones all fat no meat ridiculous the greens was as if they just came out the ground tuff as raw hide leather wet with hot salt water dumped with salt the jiffy off brand tasting cornbread cake muffins was an abomination to corn bread the real way this is not soul food only a new pallet will think this food place is soul food it's a scam a bag of soup kitchen poop the tea was iced sugar water absolutely no tea aroma only the faint color of water down tea this place charges an arm and leg and get government grants to feed this slop to the less fortunate a investigation will be conducted this will not continue screen shot this and let the count down begin to shut this pig pen down as the Compton location was read more

This food truck came to my job this past week the food was horrible!! My Catfish was undone and the French fries were drenched in salt. The fish was fried in a horrible batter. Well that was $13.00 wasted but never again. One thing for sure they are definitely not like my Mama's Kitchen no comparison to my mama's or my kitchen! read more

$18 ok $17.63...$15.99 plus tax ...this was supposed be a lunch special.....i think it needed a drink or a dessert... something...i think that price is iust a lil steep...ive had larger po boy sandwiches for less..the taste was average also the sandwich fell apart...due to the sauces weakening the bread...it was too much bread not enough meat the fish was under seasoned i wanted to try their turkey chops but i dnt know if i'd be pleased...seriously rethink that $17.63 price tag for 2 thinly sliced pieces of fish fries and extra large bread..thank you.. read more

Not Your Mamas Kitchen - $17.63 fish po boy it really isnt worth it - Food Trucks Near Me - Ontario, California

I've been seeing this truck around LA and have been curious because it has a catchy name. Reminds me of the Slap ya Mama seasoning lol Any hoot, we were shooting a tv show on Melrose Ave & Bonita Ave and praise the soul food gawds, their truck was parked right across the street. I decided to skip my free lunch at catering, provided by the studio to go try them out/support. The smiling crew of two gave me a chance to review their printed pics of the some of the menu items and their hand written gel menu. Chicken, po boy, Turkey, fish and hamburger were the protein options for the day but I know they offer more cuz of there IG posts. I went with there tangy wings and hot honey with Mac and cheese & Yams. Now that's not really a meal you should eat when you have to go back to worth afterwards. Itis in full effect! The tangy wings which looked like a fish fry and lemon pepper mixture was good, definitely a new taste to my buds. The hot tangy was my favorite tho. I'm glad I finally gave the truck a try! read more

One of the best restaurants in the neighborhood! The wings were fried to perfection, I will definitely be back!

Great, great food. Not your mama's was at our favorite brewery in signal hill, Ten Mile. We had the shrimp po-boy, collard greens, yams and Mac-n-Cheese. The shrimp po-boy was huge! Shrimp was fried to a perfect crisp, Mac-n-cheese was extreamly cheesy & the BF loved the yams, just the right amount of Sweet. If you see this truck give it a shot. You won't be disappointed. read more

Best of the best I know it's not my mamas kitchen because she can't cook lol. Just playing but for real the food here is good

I f*cked up and showed up to 10 mile brewery thirsty and hungry. I had originally ordered the po' boy shrimp sammich with greens. I saw the rest of the menu. Ordered the Mac n cheese. Got a total. Read the menu some more, the yams called my name. The po boy is "yuuuuge", the greens have some meats, then Mac and cheese is cheesy and the yams are perfectly sweet and spiced. No complaints. Paired well with my sunny side Pilsner. read more
