Recently celebrated their 1 year anniversary, went in to support local. Unfortunately, did not feel…read morewelcome in this bakery. It felt as if my family being in there was unwelcome. My 5yo daughter and I browsed their display shelf, and the freezer. The staff who checked us out seemed impatient that we were browsing, and none of the staff seemed to make an effort to be friendly and welcoming, at best, they had a long day and they were all tired. We paid $44 for 4 small sausage rolls, 2 scones, 1 sugar cookie, 1 carrot cake, and 1 strawberry custard cake. I asked them for preparation instructions for the sausage rolls and strawberry custard cake, as they were from the freezer. They said, heat the sausage rolls for about half an hour, and just defrost the cake. We defrosted the cake for a couple hours, and when I opened it, it smelled of grass/weeds. Unable to put a finger on the scent, I shrugged it off as the leafy stems from the strawberries. Unfortunately, when we got into the cake, the custard was so stale, it was like a hard layer of cheese. The cake portion was soft, so it was not still frozen. It is possible that custard should not be frozen, as the texture cannot return to it's normal state. The sugar cookie also was not the typical, it was tall for a cookie, and seemed more like a shortbread with whipped icing. Have not yet tried the sausage rolls, but haven't been too impressed with the strawberry custard cake, scones, and sugar cookie thus far.
