Our family moved to the Round Lake area 30+ years ago in 1995. The first place we came across that…read morehad pizza was The Pizza Place as we drove in to town on Route 134. By then owner Jean McCue's business was already well established for 10 years. We are crisp, thin and cheesy pizza lovers and their pizza was just that! We ordered for many years from them. Always tasty and consistent. Then something went awry and it became gad awful. Maybe the recipe was changed or a different cook was in the kitchen. Several times it came that way (extremely salty) and so we moved on to the many other pizza joints that had popped up with the great Round Lake population boom of the late 1990s. Fast forward to last week, after a 15 year hiatus we thought of giving it another shot and ordered from The Pizza Place. We were pleasantly surprised to find the pizza was exactly as we remembered it so long ago. Supper that night was like we were back in 1995. Just superb! The price was very reasonable for what we got. Our family all raved about it. The delivery was quick with our order being plenty hot, and to top it off we recognized a familiar face delivering it, the owner her self, Jean McCue! It doesn't get any better than that. We are definitely are going to now make this our go to pizza joint. It is great to see a very local business still around, surviving through the devastation of a tornado hit years ago and the COVID years.

Double decker is a unique take on deep dish, the thin crust cheese is always a empty box at parties and dinners. My family loves this place. If you want servers in your face, bells and whistles, for to CPK. Want good pizza you can eat any where and reheat to be twice as good, this one never misses

I had a dentist appointment and they told me only soft foods, ideally liquid diet for the next day or two. So I looked up on Yelp for ice cream near me to go get a milkshake, and here I am! When you walk in, you get a modern take on an old-time ice cream shop. The red and white checkered floor, the 1950s and 1960s ice cream shop menu offerings, and the rockabilly music on the sound system. I would say customer service matches as well, as the young man was very polite which was such a nice change from so many places in 2024. I ordered a Harry Belafonte, which is basically a vanilla milkshake with diced up fresh banana. The young man was willing to swap the soft serve vanilla ice cream for chocolate at my request. The milkshake comes out quite thin, but with a nice flavor. The milkshake however what six dollars, which I found too expensive for what I got. Then I got an orange dreamsicle soft serve ice cream. The young man struggled to explain that the base was a vanilla ice cream and they put in some sort of orange powder. This definitely was not worth $4 is the flavor was kind of orange creamsicle and kind of chemical. The shop is super clean, has a really wonderful five. I just wish the product was better and at a better price.
