However, they actively use AI to determine pricing ... and will do so in front of you. I always try to support small businesses but I cannot stomach someone pricing something using AI in front of me. Additionally, I expressed interest in a painting of a national park. It had some water damage and frame damage. She priced it in front of me at $200+ via AI and said she would have to talk to her husband due to it potentially being an original. I asked what year the painting was from - she said 1800s (per AI) and that she got it from an estate sale. I asked how she was sure it was an original, and she said because it looks like it ...yikes. If you're going to sell a painting from a thrift store for this price, I'd hope for some type of secondary verification. Not using AI to determine everything - which she said she does for the entire store. I'm not the type to leave a poor review, and I hope the teenager attends her university of choice in the future. BUT PLEASE. Don't bring AI to local thrift shops. We go for the nostalgia and the affordability. Many blessings to this business and I hope they get their feet under them.

When it transitioned to online, it was a fun way to spend part of my Saturday while I did chores, running over to my laptop to bid as my items came up. It was always a pleasant experience when picking up my treasures; all the staff are so friendly and helpful, and insisted on loading everything in my van for me. Then I fell in love with a man in Palm Desert and it was time to downsize my 5 bedroom Victorian home in Los Angeles and sell it. The Redlands Auction staff made the long drive to come out and accepted about 90% of my offerings and spread them out between 2 auctions. I was more than pleased with what my antiques brought in, and it saved me so much time trying to sell them another way. Now it's a couple years down the road I am back in the buying market again to add my own touch to our desert and mountain homes, and of course Redlands Auction is where I turn! There are many other amazing antique stores just down the street that are worth visiting instead. The owner here can be quite rude and seems to have little patience or respect for people who disagree with her or cause even small inconveniences. When we first purchased an item, she was very nice and even offered to let us come back another time to pick it up since her hours didn't quite work for us. That was very kind and we appreciated the flexibility. Unfortunately, when it came time to actually pick up the item, her attitude completely changed. She became extremely rude and essentially berated me, my dad, and my husband. To this day, I'm not entirely sure why she was so upset with us since we had both agreed on a pickup time. However, the messages she sent afterward made it clear that she had little respect or basic courtesy toward us. I've worked in customer service before, so I understand that customers can sometimes be frustrating. If she was upset about something we did, I can understand feeling frustrated. However, speaking to customers the way she did is something I would never do. The store may have some interesting items, but I would much rather spend my money supporting businesses that treat their customers with respect.
