Received a message from an owner I've never met, immediately got blocked for leaving an honest review. I've only ever met the elderly woman. So I will post my response here. Look John, I'm not the only one that felt uncomfortable. I walked in with my family and the owner didn't greet us, that WASN'T the problem. But a group of white people walked in and they get a "hello" I excused it. However, I will NOT excuse the owner for ONLY following my family around the store just cause we weren't white. If I had seen her doing that with everyone I would've been fine, but nope. It was only with people of color that I noticed she would do that with. Plus, I'm not the only reviewer that thinks the owner was being racist. So maybe you should see your own actions instead of thinking the reviewers are wrong for feeling that way. I absolutely adore this thrift store. After no longer supporting places like Goodwill, I was on the hunt for a good local spot. It's an old house they converted into a thrift store and I think that's so unique. I have spent hours in here and found so many treasures. The owner is super sweet and crams a ton into her little shop, so this thrift store is really a destination gem no matter what. If you are in the area stop by, just check the hours first. I was excited to enter a new thrift shop and when I walked in it seemed to have a lot of great stuff! However; as I walked throughout the rooms the lady up front would act like she was fixing stuff watching me as if I was going to steal something! I have never in my life felt so uncomfortable. While many people walked around who were Caucasian were unbothered me the only Mexican was watched like a hawk! Every room I mean every room I was in she appeared watching me "fixing" things. I will never step into this shop again due to this. I am a law abiding citizen I pay for ALL my things I work very hard for my check and I enjoy thrifting! But never again will I step foot in this shop she really made me feel racially profiled I did not appreciate that at all!!! I rate this a 1 only because of the great stuff but the service was horrible. Then she had the nerve to tell me not to touch anything. Really lady!? How the heck am I supposed to check what I AM BUYING. While everyone else has stuff in their hands. Wow unbelievable i am so bothered by how I was treated today. Regardless of this treatment I still bought something just to prove to this women I'm good with my money. She then whispered something to me which I didn't catch as I paid. There were other customers in line so I didn't ask her to repeat herself. I'm glad I didn't hear it because then maybe I would have told her off. NEVER again she ruined my day! read more
