Second time on a cruise and Norwegian Encore has exceeded my expectations! It was more than I expected, and it was more than I can ask for. Such a great way to end the year! Where to start! We had no issues with any staff. We enjoyed the great, welcoming customer service. We respect all the hard work from the staff in attending to our needs, making our experience fun & exciting, cleaning up after EVERYONE, and making our bed every night. Even the public bathrooms & theater were ALWAYS clean. I commend the staff and workers on this cruise line. I don't know how they do it. Food was good! Don't expect Michelin-star food, people. They make this on the ship, for crying out loud. We had no issues with the food. Each complimentary restaurant/cafe was more than we anticipated and we enjoyed every meal we ate on the ship. So many bars! You can see everyone with a drink in their hand. There's always something to do! And there was more than one event going on! It was very overwhelming, in a good way! We ran out of lotion and I forgot a makeup accessory. No problem! They have a store to purchase those, along with other necessities you may need. The only thing that was a downer is that they did not sell bathing suits, so make sure you pack enough! It's been a while since the last time I went on a cruise, but I love how modern the interior of the ship looked! Again, we had such a great time and this is one of our memorable vacations. Thank you Norwegian Encore! Until next time.

We just finished a 5-day family cruise. This was our second family cruise, but first time on Norwegian. Let's start with the good: We loved the layout of the ship. The design made it feel much less crowded than our previous cruise. Our stateroom was beautiful and spacious. There were lots of great activities going on at all times. The music provided by the djs was diverse. The shows (Kinky Boots and Choir of Man) were both fantastic!!! The childcare check-in and out process felt very secure. The spa was outstanding! We booked thermal suite passes for the week and definitely put them to good use. I liked not having to make reservations or choose dining times. We were free to come and go as we pleased. One of the major disappointments was in regards to the main buffet dining hall. My son is gluten-free. We alerted them to this in advance of the cruise. However, it was difficult getting clear answers about what was gluten free on the buffet. We constantly had to find the head chef to get basic staples like gf bread, buns, pancakes, and desserts. It was hit or miss as to what other staff members knew what we were asking for. Our previous cruise line had a dedicated gf section of the buffet. Also, it was difficult to know when the main dining area would be closing. It seemed inconsistent from day to day. Posted signs would have been helpful. On one of our port days, we returned to the ship, only to find that the dining hall was closed. Everybody was forced to go to one of the sit down restaurants which made for long waits. It seems like they should have taken this into consideration. We were also disappointed because both of our port stops were changed the day before they were supposed to occur. One of the reasons we booked this cruise was because of the ports. One of which was Norwegian's private island, which offered all you can eat free food and beach access. The disembarkment process was slow and inefficient. Thankfully we were driving and not under a time crunch. Ultimately we decided to give Norwegian one more chance because of all the things that went really well.

Bed Bug Bites on my shoulder from NCL Encore
    Yeon C.

I have never had bed bug bites in my entire 52 years of life until I went on a cruise on Norwegian Encore 5/28/2023 I found all these nasty looking bug bites on my body on the third day of cruise and when I went to the Guest Service Desk, they sent a Pest Control Director to my room. He found a male bug after conducting some search. Please see attached photos so you know what they look like. I was disgusted to hear from one of the staff that they now have to find a female bug so they don't lay hundreds of eggs! I am still dealing with these marks long after the cruise and probably will for many years. Half of my cruise was wasted because I was dealing with mental anguish, physical suffering and pain. And this is the part where I felt like I was insulted. They offered me a $100 credit on onboard expenses. After I elevated the issue, they offered me $400 credit towards future cruise which I will never take. Not with them again. This is hardly any compensation. Beware, these bed bug bites are a serious matter. They are like cancer, once found in a room, there is no telling how wide or deep they have spread or migrated to other rooms, you can only hope. I never thought I would be this unlucky one. Getting bitten is one thing but the lack of any real compensation from Norwegian is pretty shameful. I am sharing my experience to raise awareness and hopefully help others avoid this traumatic experience.

Another outstanding cruise with NCL. This was our first sailing since the pandemic and to say we were excited would be an understatement! We stayed in the Haven Area which is a ship within a ship. Yes, you do pay a premium to be in this area but when we go on vacation....we go on vacation. Butler service, private pool area, private sun deck area, dedicated bar and wait staff, private restaurant.....you get the idea. Unique to this ship was the show "Kinky Boots" which we found to be entertaining. The cast was excellent and the show was funny albeit predictable. Also unique was Onda by Scarpetta which is an Italian specialty restaurant. Some photos from here are included. We were not all that impressed by Onda or really any of the specialty restaurants this go round. Not sure if the crew was still getting their "sea legs" or what but outside of Cagney's and the Haven Restaurant the service was spotty at best. Our ship also visited the recently renovated private island of Great Stirrup Cay. NCL and their competitors each have a "private" island in the Bahamas that they use as a port for most Eastern Caribbean sailings. At GSC for short they have a new area called Silver Cove and WOW! This area is reservable ahead of time in your cruise planner and we loved it. We stayed in a Lagoon Studio Villa for the day. It was air conditioned, had a private bathroom, and the service was spot on. Our villa, #125, was located right next to the Moët Chandon bar, talk about clutch! If you book an NCL cruise and it's stopping at GSC do yourself a favor and book one of these villas for the day. We are already looking forward to our next NCL cruise this summer and would highly recommend them to anyone planning their next getaway!

Cruising is safe again. We've just completed a 7Day cruise to the Caribbean and had a great time with friends. Selected two fine dinings; LeBistro & Carney's. Both highly recommended. On board shows Kinky Boots & The Choir of Man were highly entertaining. US Virgin Island excursion was not too organized & a bit disappointing. But a visit to Puerto Plata was fun. Great Stirrup Bay is a good way to enjoy the beach & zip-line.

Mini model of the Encore. Race track and laser tag shown here. How lucky am I to be able to do this. Wow!

So you booked the cruise eh? Think that's it? It's not. Read the fine print. They will uncharge you to almost double the price of the cruise itself. Excursions are insanely overpriced, book them from the vendor directly. Make sure you know you'll be charged $18.50+ a day for gratuity PER PERSON. You can cancel this on the cruise itself, but be warned, they'll screw you and the line for customer service will wrap around the ship. Now, that's all disclosed, and it's my fault for not reading it. So I want to just warn you all, cancel automatic gratuity as soon as you board. Leave tips. Carry cash. If you do a dining experience PLEASE tip them. Those people are great. But don't this is predatory cruise line steal your money. Why am I so angry with them? Let me tell you. We booked a cruise that was called "THE HUBBARD GLACIER CRUISE". It was an alaska cruise. We paid extra for a large balcony room to see a glacier. Guess what we DIDN'T see? Yeah, the Hubbard Glacier. Now you may ask, why not? Good question. ONE day prior to boarding we were told that our final port would NOT be Seward, but instead Whittier. We pre-paid for a train ride from Seward to Anchorage that promised beautiful views on a 4 hour train ride. The ride from Whittier to Anchorage? 90 minutes and so so. Refund? $50 on a $400 train ride. That's it. We find out the destination changed due to port construction in Seward. Construction that had been ongoing for a while and didn't complete until 3 weeks after our cruise, so it was known WELL in advance that it wouldn't be ready, but they wait until the day before to let us know. At that point, it's too late to change our transportation, and in Whittier a cab, uber, rental car, etc. doesn't event exist. So they know they own you. They don't care. On to the Glacier Viewing. The second to last day was supposed to be the Hubbard Glacier. A place realistically only viewable from a ship. The reason we ALL booked this cruise. On day 5, after we ALL got back on the ship after docking in Skagway, the Captain comes on and tells us that due to the new docking in Whittier (again, known well in advance), we would have to skip the Glacier and sail all day and night right into Whittier. So you are telling me that we knew we were going to Whittier a day before the cruise left, but we didn't know until the night prior there were restrictions on when we could access the dock and time management was now a problem? Needless to say the ship nearly broke out into riots and the line for customer service was front to back for the rest of the cruise. If this was weather, mechanical, whatever, I get it. It would suck, but I'd get it. I work in the transportation industry and sometimes you just get bad luck. This, however, was lying and preventable. They stole from ALL of us. Now, that aside, the food was terrible, and our "junior suite" cabin creaked and popped the whole time so loudly we could barely sleep and thought it would probably sink. The view from our balcony was of lifeboats and their support hoists. Their apology was an embarrassing room credit. That's it. Why didn't they cancel Skagway and go to the glacier? Well, they sold a ton of excursions in Skagway they'd have to refund. Floating around a Glacier that makes them no money is the much better option to cancel. I contact customer service multiple times for a more reasonable compensation. I couldn't have been told to F--K Off more times than they did. Nothing. No care or concern in the world. I will NEVER use Royal Caribbean again and I wish nothing but the worst upon them. One thing I will say, their staff on the boat are the nicest people ever. They were the only saving grace of this piece of s--t cruise line. You won't have a single complaint about the staff. Ever. But you WILL make a Royal Caribbean Voodoo doll when you get off that old a$$ beat to hell boat with garbage food. Don't say I didn't warn you. use Virgin Voyages, by far the superior cruise line.

If you're expecting wall‑to‑wall family programming, this isn't that. That said, the Kids Academy was an absolute hit--the staff was fantastic, the activities kept the little ones happy, and it quickly became the go‑to spot. And the arcade? Total blast. Easily one of the highlights for the kids (and, let's be honest, the adults too). Entertainment-wise, the shows could use a little more spark. Nothing bad, just missing that "wow, we need to see that again" energy. A bit more excitement or variety would go a long way. Now... the part that bumps this from a 3.5 to a solid 4 stars: The Haven. We scored a deal, and if you know, you know. Private restaurant, priority everything, a butler who somehow appears exactly when you need them--it's a different world up there. The Haven experience smooths out every rough edge and turns the whole trip into something special. Overall, Norwegian delivered a great cruise with a few areas that could level up, but thanks to The Haven, it felt like a truly elevated getaway. Would absolutely sail again--especially if another Haven deal pops up. Bon Voyage

We sailed from Miami to Puerto Plata and Bimini, and I was impressed from start to finish. THE FOOD was the biggest surprise. It was genuinely incredible. We tried most of the signature restaurants, with Extra Virgin being a standout. Even The Galley impressed me...ramen, tacos, burgers, sushi, ice cream, bagels, everything felt fresh and elevated, not like a typical cruise buffet. The ship itself was beautiful, modern, and spotless. They were even doing maintenance while in port. The shops, casino, entertainment, and overall vibe were all excellent and very social. The cabins were also amazing. Everything is controlled through a tablet, lighting, temperature, service requests, dining, maintenance...super convenient and modern. Embarkation and disembarkation were shockingly smooth. Getting on took longer than getting off. Disembarkation was especially impressive--we just walked off the ship with no lines or stress. DRINKS: Virgin uses a Bar Tab instead of drink packages. I bought a $350 tab with bonus credit and it lasted about three days of fairly heavy poolside drinking. Cocktails were $11-$16, which felt fair. It also covered non-alcoholic drinks, and I had great coffee and iced lattes every morning. I basically lived by the pool. The bartenders were fantastic, and the pool deck had a great energy all day. Scarlet Night was a highlight, super fun club night, though the DJ definitely needed to read the room a bit better. I also did three spa services (haircut, facial, massage), all excellent. My only complaint is that spa treatments don't include access to the spa facilities unless you pay extra, which feels like it should be included given the price. In Puerto Plata, we did the waterfall excursion, about a 40-minute drive and 45-minute hike, then sliding and jumping into waterfalls. Lunch was included afterward. Definitely worth it if you don't mind a bit of activity. Bimini was beautiful, and I loved that the wristbands worked at the beach club bars. The only downside was timing...the DJ didn't start until 1:30 PM, so we spent hours waiting in the sun and left before it even began. Starting earlier would improve the experience a lot. Overall, Virgin really nails what they're going for: great food, modern ships, fun entertainment, and a social, energetic vibe. A few small tweaks, but nothing that takes away from how much I enjoyed it. I'll absolutely sail with Virgin again.

But after seeing the ads and reviews for Virgin Voyages, I was intrigued, especially by the adults-only concept, so I decided to try a solo trip. I sailed on the Scarlet Lady for a 5-night cruise out of Miami, with stops in Key West and Bimini. Pros: - Virgin really puts thought into the solo traveler experience. I received a welcome note in my cabin with details about a solo meetup on day one, which made it easy to connect with other travelers and dedicated crew members. - Black Friday deals made it possible to book without paying a double occupancy supplement, which is a huge win for solo trips. - The option to bid for a cabin upgrade was a nice perk for securing more space and a better location. - Dining reservations for the more popular restaurants can be secured once you board. If you miss out initially, you can still join a waitlist directly at the restaurant. - Being able to go straight to your cabin upon boarding was super convenient, and my luggage arrived within a hour. - The sail away party, complete with unlimited champagne and high-energy music, really set the tone for the trip. - The food options were a highlight. Between the rotating ice cream shop, late-night pizza spot, Opa Hour tapas, and The Galley (the avocado toast and desserts had a serious hold on me), there was always something good to eat. - The PJ party was a whole vibe. The DJ kept the energy up with a diverse playlist that had everyone engaged. - The balcony hammock in the cabin is elite. It's the perfect spot to unwind, and a nap is almost guaranteed. Cons: - The pools are on the smaller side and not very deep. - The music playlist can feel repetitive at times. I noticed the same songs playing in the same order two nights in a row. - The complimentary Wi-Fi is inconsistent. It worked fine for scrolling, but streaming apps like Spotify were a struggle. - While most of the staff were great, a few interactions felt less than welcoming, which stood out. - The beach club in Bimini was overcrowded. By the time I arrived around noon, finding a lounge chair was a challenge. Overall, there are clearly more pros than cons when it comes to sailing with Virgin. While I'm still not fully sold on cruising as a whole, this experience definitely shifted my perspective. I'm already considering another Virgin trip; it just might be the one that converts me.

The restaurants that were unique to this ship compared to the last one I was on were the " Chi-Bang", Cucina del Capitano, Teppanyaki and the steakhouse. I also really enjoyed the pizza from the " pizzeria del capitano" as it was very thin and had fresh ingredients! We did eat at the " cucina del capitano" one night for free, but it wasn't anything special, so I wouldn't go again for $8 per person. The rest of the cruise food was the average meals that you get on all ships--- a bit on the heavier side and tough on my digestive system, but it was nice to have the opportunity to skip the seated dinners to eat a quick salad at the buffet or have other lighter meal. In regards to the layout of this ship, I felt that it was a bit confusing and I definitely missed having the central atrium that was present in all other ships. However, we were fortunate enough to have a room in floor 16 so we could be close to the Lido and serenity. Speaking of serenity--- on previous ships, this was on the back of the boat and thus made for a less windy experience, whereas this time it was located on the front of the boat and you were lucky if your food or towels didn't blow away. My other critique of Celebration is that many attractions required an additional cost--- if you're going to advertise a " roller coaster at sea!" , then you shouldn't be charging guests an additional $15 per person to ride it ONCE. Our local 6 Flags has better deals than that. Furthermore due to the high winds and chilly temperatures during our cruise, the " Bolt" rollercoaster was closed more often than it was open. As a result, when we tried to book a ride, they were all sold out. The ropes course and the water slides are free, thankfully, but one of the slides was broken during our trip, so that was a bummer. In regards to the shows and entertainment on this ship, Carnival Celebration blew all the other ships out of the water ( pun intended). Color my world, We Are One, Noche Cubana, and the circus show were absolutely AMAZING. I felt like I was watching some " cirque du Soleil" shows on the cruise ship, and was very impressed! As usual, their Punchliner comedy shows were also hilarious, and they were always a great end to the evening. Overall, due to the greediness of the owners of the ship in making us pay extra for random unnecessary things, I give the ship a 4/5. That rating also includes the fact that, despite advertising " Celebration Key" as a Carnival owner island, all the activities one would want to partake in cost money. I wish cruise ships would stop getting greedy and instead focus on keeping their customers happy by avoiding extra unnecessary charges.

Overall the seven day cruise was fun and relaxing. What I like about this Carnival cruise was the…read moreparty atmosphere and the variety of food options that we enjoyed without additional costs. The suite life was definitely not as great as Royal Caribbean! The things that we like were the spa shower, the Loft deck (for suite guests use only) and the complimentary bottle of wine. The best perk for booking a suite was the nice size of the room. Unlike Royal Caribbean there was no suite lounge or daily reception. No concierge for booking spa treatments, fine dining etc! There was no coffee available in the suite. There were no treats left by the room attendant. There is reserved seating at all events on Royal not Carnival. Carnival only allowed one meal on their private island Celebration Key (after that you have to pay) Royal provides an endless buffet. There was no private area for suite guests like on Royal Caribbean's private island. The thing I disliked the most about this Carnival cruise was the presence of so much security they were three or four deep everywhere on the ship. In the Limelight club the DJ stopped the music, the lights were turned on and security addressed cruisers with drinks in there hands and no shoes on the dance floor (this happened 4 times while we were there during which the DJ scorned the crowd) It was so tacky. Didn't go back there again. We ate most nights at the Lido Marketplace ( buffet). I like having choices and the food was generally good with the exception of the chicken three times we found it undercooked. The ChiBang restaurant was underwhelming. The appetizers were good the dinner entrees so much. Guys burger joint was delicious just a little salty. The coffee offered in the Lido Marketplace was weak. We had to buy coffee everyday to get a decent cup. The cruise staff were really friendly. The New Year's Eve event was okay. (I like the two Royal Caribbean new years cruises better.) We skipped visiting St. John and Amber Cove ports opting to enjoy the quiet boat instead. Disembarking the boat was quick and easy because we got to the staging area very early and carried our own luggage. Though the walk pushing my luggage back to the car was no fun.
