Tried this popular spot for the first time. The restaurant, including the bathroom, was immaculate. We ordered pad Thai with shrimp, pad Thai with chicken, Norvary soup and the egg roll platter. We each had water. Our total was over $70, which was more than I expected from a self-serve restaurant, but the cleanliness made it worth it. The cashier/owner was straightforward but friendly. The food was prepared beautifully and I really appreciated the presentation. The egg rolls were really good. My pad Thai with shrimp was great...except for getting a taste of the baby shrimp used in the pad Thai. I am sure it's supposed to be this way, but there were tiny (like really tiny) shrimp in the dish that seemed like dried and put into the noodles. They were harder than the other ingredients and had a bizarre texture. The taste threw me off! I like fishy foods so to be put off by this was unusual. They were very pungent and had beef jerky like texture. The other two loved their food and are return customers. I'd love to try other things on the menu but would not recommend the shrimp pad Thai. read more

We have enjoyed Norvary for a lot of years. However I went in person to place a to go order for just Pad Thai and nothing else as they were out of Cheese Balls. I sat and waited for 45 minutes and after asking how much longer I was told another 10 minutes. I went and sat in my car and watched them grab a bag from the shelf that had been sitting there for 20 minutes and then was told my food was ready and handed that bag. The Pad Thai was ok at best and was not worth 25 dollars for just that and almost an hour wait. To top it off, there wasn't even an apology for the massive wait. read more

Was in town visiting some customers and wanted something different for lunch. Well Norvary didn't disappoint. First of this was a small family owned little place. It was very cozy and had some great signs explaining what they were about. The menu was very easy to read and it had a lot of great options. I don't know many places that do seafood boils, but I am sure they do it right. I ordered the ramen with pork ribs and shrimp. My coworker ordered the Pad Thai with chicken. I also love Vietnamese egg rolls so we ordered their egg roll platter. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly. When the food arrived it was hot and came with homemade sriracha, spicy pickled garlic, and fish sauce. The ramen broth was so flavorful, it had hints of ginger, onion and garlic. It is some baby bok choy, onions, large shrimp and a nice sized pork rib along with extra meat. This wasn't your typical quick ramen either. The noodles if that good bounce to them along with the perfect cook. The egg roll platter was awesome with the accompanying veggies. They were crispy and had a great filling. My coworker said the pad Thai had the right amount of spicy and was very flavorful. We weren't able to finish all of the main course so the portions are very generous. Nice Vietnamese place in Winona. I had the chicken Pho, it was good- the chicken was a bit dry and not much flavor- I added some of the spice sauce and the pickled sauce and made it taste better. The broth itself was very good. It did not have mint or bean sprouts as one would normally think. The gal taking the order said that it's North Vietnam style- only with green onion as the crisp veggie. The vermicelli salad was very good with fresh veggies and chicken for the protein. Service was from the counter and paid up front. We sat down, and one of the back staff brought the food to us. Ambiance was a very nice, and clean place. The bathroom was clean and they have small towels to dry your hands, a very nice touch. Overall, it was good and I will return to try a different fare. read more

The pho was okay. I felt like the portion was very small and the sliced beef was over cooked (maybe precooked before the broth was put in). I asked for hosin and hot sauce and I was told it was an upgrade charge. I didn't get any bean spouts or herbs that typically come with pho either. Overall an average experience. read more

We were in town for the day and needed a place for lunch near our hotel. Norvary was such a surprise! Tucked away near Walmart in a strip mall, we experienced some very good pho and egg rolls. The place was busy, but we got our food very quickly. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the coffee was really bad- it was just instant coffee. I am in love. It's been years since I had a Banh Mi.. the pork was moist and pulled apart nicely. The veggies were crisp and added another texture, and then you have the smoothness of the pate. My favorite part though was the sauce. There were so many flavors that every bite was different but all delicious. The sandwich was about 8 inches long and would have been enough, but it was my first visit so I also got the spring rolls. Very fully stuffed, 2 for $8. Sticky rice paper outside, crunchy veggies inside. Pork was a little dry. Again the sauce was the star. It tasted like it had been slow cooked for hours, like when you get those delicious brown bits on the pan and then deglaze. 10/10 would order both again. Drive thru does take a while so if you are on lunch in a hurry, I would call ahead to order. Service was friendly and she asked me to pull around so she could bring out my order. read more

I ordered 2 things to go: pho and their new ttok. I waited over 30+ minutes for two small portions. The ttok was roughly 5x3, super small portion for $15, and their pho barely had any noodles at all for $14, compared to container given it was not even close to an inch of noodles. Ttok was super salty and pho could've been better. It's not worth it to pay $30 for something that will not fill you up. read more

I've never written a review before...but. This spot is phenomenal! Talked with one of the owners and she was one of the nicest ppl I've ever met. Service was great. Food came out fast. I travel for work and eat at different viet restaurants every month. Their restaurant is in my top 3. The food is authentic and she explained how much that means to her. Some of the best egg rolls I've ever had and the time they put into edible garnish is great. The OWNER was working the front. I ordered an ube latte for myself, and a strawberry coconut lassi for my 8 year old daughter. We waited for over a half hour for our drinks. My daughter kept asking why people who arrived after us were getting their food before us. When we finally received our drinks, there was no apology or acknowledgement of the ridiculous wait for two drinks. We just left immediately very disappointed. When we got to the car, I realized my drink didn't taste right. It was annoyingly sweet, and it was blue. Ube is purple. My daughter's drink tasted way too sweet as well, not authentic as I would expect. We threw our drinks away. The next day I stopped in to address the issue of the wrong drink, and the unreasonable wait. I got the OWNER again. He said, "What do you want me to do about it?" I am disappointed how little regard the owner has for local returning clients. I have been there many times, but I will not again. these 5 stars reviews must be from white people or something but the pho here smelled like wet dog, they gave my wife and I half a banh mi. the banh mi meat was Philly cheese steak style. the only dish that was decent there was the rice and pork with egg. place is too expensive, not worth it. my wife and I ordered 3 things and the total came out to $65... not authentic Vietnamese cuisine, sucks for those that live in Winona. thankfully we're not from around here cause I would cry if the only Asian restaurant in town was this trash. read more
