We also came for the 5:10pm (when they close) goat stampede and it was one of the cutest things ever lol. Staff were really great at poo duty in the petting zoo. Didn't know goats poo little pellets. There you can pet virtually all of them that are there except for maybe ones in the little corrals as they are mothers tending to very young babies so a volunteer member would have to assist you there. Other than that there are younger ones to pet in addition to the adults they are mixed with in the general area. They are all so cute to pet and they are very, very gentle and well mannered. Some of them show off their personalities which makes it amusing. The goat petting area was definitely the highlight coming here. There is a suggested donation to enter but it's an entry fee that isn't too steep.

First, believe them when they say the animals know what to do and you should move along at a brisk 10mph, with little to no stopping. Yes, it feels weird moving along with a llama neck through your window but they DO move. At the gate, which you can drive right up to, you can purchase loaves of bread to feed the animals - buy as many as they recommend. You WILL run out. Not only is there a peacock every five feet (and yes, they eat the bread), but there are so many four-legged furry friends running up to partake. In addition to herbivore types, there is an entire predatory animal section, some in enclosures but others like the bears you CAN feed. The bears can't come over - there is an electric fence - so don't ask them to! You are told not to stop at all in the bison and elk area. Is it a bit pricey? Well, what's pricey these days besides everything? I do wish they charged per car instead of per person yet I'm sure it takes a lot of moola to feed these animals so I don't mind helping out. You are allowed to drive around in as many circles as you want (you can even leave and come back, if on the same day); and you can stop again to get more bread if needed, so all in all it's a pretty good deal and makes for a pretty good day!

We didn't get lucky with everything--the lion was taking a nap and completely out of sight--but honestly, that's part of the experience. The kids still had a great time seeing the giraffes and exploring the other exhibits. What really made our visit stand out was a small moment that turned into something special. We stopped by the VR area near the carousel and met Catherine, who was incredibly kind and welcoming. She asked what we wanted to watch, and my daughter ended up chatting with her and mentioned her birthday was coming up. Out of nowhere, Catherine surprised us with a couple of carousel passes and a little birthday clip. It completely made my daughter's day--you could see how excited she was, and that kind of genuine kindness sticks with you. We come here pretty often during the summer since we're members, and experiences like this are exactly why we keep coming back. The staff really goes the extra mile. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to add more hand sanitizer stations, especially around the food areas and restrooms. It would just make things a bit more convenient for families. Overall, we love this place and appreciate the effort they put into both the animals and the guest experience. Looking forward to many more visits.

The lanterns are spaced out well, so it never feels crowded or rushed, and there's a nice rhythm to the walk where you naturally slow down and take things in. Some sections feel calm and quiet, others are more colorful and playful, and it all flows really well along the zoo paths. I grabbed tacos from one of the food spots and a cappuccino from a coffee stand, which was exactly what I wanted on a cold evening. Simple, warm, and easy to enjoy while wandering. It's the kind of setup where you can snack, stroll, stop, and keep moving without breaking the mood. Overall, Wild Lanterns 2025 feels well thought out without being overdone. It works just as well for a relaxed solo walk as it does with friends or family, and it's one of the few seasonal events I'm genuinely happy to make a repeat tradition.

Although it's just two rooms, we spent more than an hour here looking at the animals and then seeing the animal feeding time. The guy who was feeding the animals was super knowledgeable and informative. It sounded like he has spent a lot of time taking care of each animal. He knew so much about it was cool to see full on alligators sitting in the corner in an enclosed area. They had all the different kinds of poisonous snakes. My favorite was seeing the king cobra and reticulated python. So many cool animals. If you can make it out here in the next month or so, you should do it. So worthwhile to come and see.

In the summer, there's a big outside area for tortoises that you can pet (there's an indoor area in the winter). Admission prices are very reasonable and they have a great gift shop. They recently temporarily closed to do a refresh, it's clean and more open. We love to bring our baby here because it's not so big to be overwhelming, but it's great for big kids too. Reptiles like to be warm so it's generally quite warm inside, we love it for a rainy day outing.

Located less than an hour outside of downtown, it is home to 140 different animal species featured throughout its meandering 120 acres. Children under the age of 3 are admitted free of charge and a visit typically takes 2-3 hours. While your little ones will probably enjoy roaming the grounds on foot, you can also rent a Safari Cycle or Critter Cruiser and unlike every zoo that I've ever visited, you are also welcome to use your bicycle, scooter, rollerblades, skateboard, or wagon while exploring their nearly 2 miles of paved walkways. These are some of the largest animal enclosures that I've ever seen at a zoo and they provide you closer access to the animals than you might expect. If you anticipate that your little ones will be WAY into this adventure, and ask you animal related questions above the standard parental pay grade, well then you're in luck because guided walking and mini-bus tours are available. In addition, if the herd you are traveling with is in need of a short break from all of these animal encounters you can enjoy the picnic area, playground, and restaurant. The zoo also has a train that takes you around the entire zoo, however, it is very hard to spot animals while in the train. We paid $8/pp for the train. I would saying best way to spot the animals is walking. Since we went on a hot day, it got very tiring to walk the entire zoo and gave us half way. I wish they had water fountains in the zoo because it is so big and there is only one water fountain by the entrance which makes it hard to come back all the time to fill it up. They did have porta potties around the zoo though. They also had a light bites and souvenirs at the entrance. Would probably visit again during a colder day so that I'm able to go around better. :)

The staff seem to really care for the animals and enjoyed hearing the talk about lemurs. They just got some lion cubs adjusted to their enclosure and it was super cool to see them on their first day. If your toddler is still not tired out, there's a playground in the parking lot they can run around in. Under 3 yo is free!
