Bruce and Debbie have gone out of their way to arrange transport and blocking of my boat. I spent nearly 2 years in the yard rebuilding my boat and when I was ready they made sure it got safely back to the travelift and into the water. Debbie can order nearly any part and they have a huge inventory of used parts available at a seriously reduced cost. Dollar for dollar this is the best deal around and I really appreciated being treated like family. I highly recommend them for moving a boat, storage or yard work.

Here is a quick bit about me related to my experience…read more I work at a Portland Area non-profit alternative High School for at risk youth as an IT Consultant and our school starts in the 3rd week of August. 2018 - June - 01 I speak to the on-site staff and was informed about free rent. My debit card had been compromised a few weeks earlier and I had not received a new one yet, so I couldn't sign up yet. 2018 - June - 07 I spoke with Deanna to sign up. I'm told it was too late to get July as a free month as you have to pay for a full month in to get a free one, and June was already a week in. Asked if there was anything I could do such as paying the full price for June despite being a week in. Was told i could try calling the corporate office, and Deanna would also try to help. In the end, I was told there was no way to make July the free month. 2018 - June - 21st-ish Called back to verify that the unit i wanted was still available, but it had been rented out the weekend before. Deanna helped me secure a unit in St. Helens and provided me with a coupon to ensure I got the best price. 2018 - June - 25thish Deanna called to say that a slightly smaller unit had become available in scappoose. I reserved it and cancelled my reservation at St. Helens. 2018 - June 28thish I go in 2 days early to sign up, right near the end of the day. Deanna was not there this but i worked with a different person who's name escapes me now. Due to the time passed, I forgot the requirements of the free month promotion. The clerk asked me if i wanted to sign up for Auto Pay. I said "I don't see the point, I'm only going to be here for 2 months, this paid month, and the free month next month." I was not given paperwork for auto pay nor for the free month. The clerk said nothing about my statement, and the only reference to the free month in the office was a sign that said "Free month special does not include insurance". At the end of the signing of this contract, I fully believed I was getting a free month, which would have been August. I never got a phone call from anyone questioning the contract or the fact that the free month paperwork was missing/not signed. 2018 - August - 03 Money was very tight due to the summer vacation. I literally had no money in my bank account due to unexpected bills. I drop some stuff off into the unit, which was now pretty full of nearly everything i owned. Deanna comes and finds me and asks me when I'm going to pay as i was 3 days late. I say "This is my free month". She tells me that I hadn't signed the paperwork for a free month. I start to panic and stop unloading, then ask Deanna what I could do. She goes to call corporate, and I call them too, all while my 5 yr old is sleeping in the car. I speak with a woman who tells me that a man named Jack would be the only one who could help, and he has left for the day. I plead with her to see if there was anything that can be done as it was a Friday and if i needed to empty the storage unit, i had to get any help i could to do it over the weekend. A few moments later I get a call from a driving Jack. Jack: "I thought i was going to be talking to a man." Me: "I am a man" That started a 20 minute conversation that included Jack misrepresenting the story i just shared here, being accused of trying to ram him into a decision by repeating myself when he continued to be inaccurate about the facts, and getting told "I don't have to do a fucking thing for you." and "It's only $150." as well as "its on the website, you saw it 3 weeks ago!" I was told i'd get a call back with a decision the following monday, but that call never came. Friends came together and put funds into my hands to pay for the month, and Deanna suggested i wait until the 9th since she hadn't heard back either. Deanna was even kind enough to waive the late fees and knew that i wasn't trying to cheat the company out of money as i had always intended on getting the free month. I asked if i could get September free instead as school has started, but we're 2 weeks since i asked. Still no word at 3 days left, so I'm emptying my unit. I thought I would have saved money with U-Store, but since I never got the free month, it would've been $100 cheaper with a competitor. Even if i get the free month, it won't be worth the cost of my dignity. I left that day feeling like jack wasn't listening and was judging me instead. He humiliated me over my financial situation, brought my gender/sex into question during a conversation where that topic was unnecessary and irrelevant, and threw me into a panic attack in front of my daughter, who woke up to her 6'3, 300lb father scared, angry, upset, and at the verge of tears at a situation Jack was obviously too well off to understand. The man has no empathy. Deanna is a gem. She empathized with me and tried to help while sticking up for her clerk. U-Store should hire Deanna as corporate manager for customer service and fire Jack. Never Again U-Store.

I should have just gotten my friends and a uhaul to move, but i was promised it would take 5hrs. i was billed 5.5hrs. tip top of the money i had left. and they didn't even have time to move everything. why? because their recklessness with my things i didn't want them carrying my computer monitors. they were hired to pack and move stuff across portland. they came at 1:30 when they said only to tell me that they didn't know they needed all the packing stuff. they eventually arrived nearly 2hrs later and towards the END Of the original window i was promised without any 'hey we will be there at this ETA' they said they got stuck behind a train, which is fine i guess? but no update after that until i called and complained, which got me a 5% discount, which is nice i guess? but like everything that happened after were MASSIVE red flags, both for the computer and the 'movers' which felt like contractors they just hired for whatever without properly vetting. i had a small move, 2 rooms. they were the slowest movers and most reckless movers i've ever hired. but i don't really blame them fully for that. supposedly they were working since 8am and just drove up from salem or something. they didn't even eat lunch. is that even legal?! no wonder they came to the door exhausted already and out of it. These 2 guys did the best they could, but honestly with how exhausted I was from helping them (something i SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO DO), they were doing a good job, but that doesn't really matter. in the end this guy ruined my 2000 custom built standing desk for music. not sure if i can get it repaired or fixed. he undid it and said he will put it back together. it was pretty easy just a few bolts into the joints between the wooden top and the legs and putting on the keyboard tray. easy stuff for the most part (when you have a drill, i don't own one). this guy didn't even look at where he was drilling or understand how the desk was put together after showing him specific things. he just drilled in the bolts and they hit a part that they're supposed to go into but was put in backwards making it impossible (on purpose) to get the screw in. this guy just kept drilling harder and harder and when i asked him about it he was like yeah it's supposed to sound like that. He either was so exhausted he couldn't think straight or just took on tasks he could have said 'yeah i don't know how to do that, can you do it?' either way now i have a broken desk that's only partially built and put together. i am really glad i moved all of my expensive stuff to my place with a friend last weekend, because they definitely would have broken a lot of very expensive things! I also gave them a mattress cover to put on the mattress, and they struggled doing that. You are movers wtf?! i zipped it up about half way and moved on. Then when we got to my new place they didn't even use it and put the mattress on the pavement to get a better angle or something. like what was the point in bringing it?! They also dropped a bunch of precious memories i had in a bin in a bin, they said they took them out because the outer bin couldn't close (bs). They were holding it open wrapped around their arm and i asked them to close it as it doesn't look secure and he said it would be fine, then immediately drops it with pictures and papers dropping on the ground and getting dirty. Anyway this all just happened. and there's no way I can live in my new place due to the lack of time they afforded to me to actually place things in the right spot. At least my bed is in the right spot. luckily for now i am in a short term rental because my last place had mold and why I am moving. i am highly allergic and being there as long as i did, both to wait for them to show up and how slowly they worked on loading the truck, I am feeling sick again because of it. The estimate was low balled to say the least because these guys move at a snails pace because this company overworks them and treats likely their staff like crap. these are probably more desperate people looking for an easy pay day. one guy was like 'i worked 4 days this month' and the other one worked 6 days in a row. a 12 hr day without a break outside of driving (which isn't a break) isn't really fair or legal? I paid nearly 1k for this move, and you can't afford to give these people a proper break between moves? I'm sure they weren't making nearly enough either. Lastly they pressured me to sign a thing at the end of the receipt that says everything was delivered intact, which i didn't sign. Anyway go with another company, not worth the risk. I didn't have another weekend to do this move as i need to have a livable space and that takes time as well. Anyway the movers were careless, slow, expensive, and ignored instructions.
