I have been wanting another African Grey parrot since my previous companion bird passed away from old age. I found NW Parrot Rescue in a Google search on the west coast. Chris was absolutely amazing and I am delighted to have rescued a parrot and am able to give him a loving home, something I suspect he didn't have in his previous 'life.' I feel SO BLESSED to have discovered NW Parrot Rescue in Vancouver, WA and am so grateful that Chris spends his valuable time trying to take care of, rehome and love these birds that SO many people don't appreciate. If I could give a negative amount of stars I would!!! This "rescue" deals in stolen birds. Also known as Parrots for Patriots. My Aunt had a bird named Josephine. Josephine didn't get along with one of her other birds so our family friend was keeping her while my Aunt was making room for her. Our friend unexpectedly passed away and nobody told us for 3 days. In those 3 days Northwest Bird Rescue aka Parrots for Patriots was contacted (by an outside person) - BEFORE ANY FAMILY HAD BEEN CONTACTED - and they loaded up approximately 19 exotic birds, including Josephine, estimated value of all birds at $25,000. Our friend had made it known to any and everyone he talked to about birds that if anything happened to him my Aunt was supposed to get all ofthe birds and make sure they went to good homes. And one lady that knew this and had no authority to do anything with the birds completely ignored his wishes. When my aunt asked for the return of Josephine they told my aunt she had to fill out an application. She filled out the application and waited weeks to hear from them. Today they informed her by email that they voted 6 to 1 NOT TO GIVE HER HER OWN BIRD BACK because of their "investigation". FOR A BIRD THEY HAD NO RIGHT TO TAKE!!!! They said she lied on her application by not disclosing she had outside animals (20± meat/egg laying chickens, peacocks, and goats - which the chickens and goats are not even hers!) as the reason she was denied. My aunt was not even aware she needed to disclose outside farm animals on her application, let alone animals that are not even hers. read more

Chris at Northwest Parrot Rescue was amazing. He followed up with us several times to see how everything was going with our birds - adopted through the rescue. He spent two hours with us - educating us on bird care. And, the care package he gave us was outstanding and is being well used: bird cage, toys, food, educational books and more. Chris runs an amazing operation! He loves these birds and treats them top notch. His Facility is well maintained and well equipped. I adopted JP and she is exactly as he described in her personality and disposition. He set us up for success a huge care package and went through all of her care and how to successfully care for her. Boundless energy, and it's a good thing because he is doing a great job keep all those balls in the air... rescues, adoptions, fundraising, PR, and looking after Veterans needing interaction. We just got our dream bird, a 22 year old Umbrella Cockatoo, not our first for sure (Cockatoos are a whole 'nother kettle of fish compared to many birds) but the whole experience was great and meeting Chris was the frosting on the cake!! read more

We are so blessed to be able to adopt Jackson from North West Parrot rescue. Chris was wonderful and so kind. He was very detail oriented, caring; he made sure that Jackson and all of his birds get to go to a good home and are well take care of. Chris gave us a lot of food supplies, treats, and toys for Jackson that will last for a long time. Chris also gave us a blender and camera, parrots cook books, and other documentations, all the tools that we can have to make sure that we will be the best parents possible for Jackson. Jackson is one of the sweetest birds ever that we have ever known. Jackson is very well behaved and smart. We are so happy to be able to take in Jackson as a new member of our family. I am so glad there are still good people in the world like Chris who has been devoting over 30 years of his life to care for these innocent birds and at the same time use the proceeds to help out veterans, who had been through so much.
