I went there with a friend to get him a cat. He had an appointment and they were there when we showed up. While there, I met the cat of my dreams. Love at first sight. Long story short, I filled out an application and now we're best friends. My friend also found a snuggle guy to take home. We were allowed to spend as much time as we wanted with any cat. Everyone we talked to was polite and accommodating. Their facility was very clean and well organized. The cats were clean and the multi-level cages they are kept in are also clean and surprisingly spacious, with their own litter box separate from their sleeping and eating quarters. I was pretty impressed. They seem very professional, and I was surprised to read some of the other reviews. Judging from the tone of those reviews, I'd take them with a grain of salt. I didn't have that experience at all. In fact, while I was there they got a phone call from someone who "needed a puppy today for a birthday party." They refused to supply a random person a gift animal, and I'm very happy I was there to overhear it. People shouldn't give kids random animals at birthday parties. Those animals end up neglected or returned. It's sick that people treat animals like objects. I would very much recommend them to any serious animal lover. read more

Amy will literally just accept your pet in just to euthanize it. I had a friend who told me about her experience bringing in her dog, Amy thought the dog acted out too much and said the pup wouldn't be trainable and would most likely be euthanized. 1. How do you just say that to someone? 2. How are you working at a shelter/intake/care facility for animals and you think this is appropriate to say and then do? 3. She is breed sensitive and hates anything she doesn't know without any care for their well being. This place is AWFUL - stay away 4. Look at the other comments here they say everything too. Horrible, horrible experience with Amy. During our phone call she made up lies about Oregon Humane that didn't even make sense. She told me a story about how they took back the same dog 6 times but then also said they don't take pets back?! What?! Those things contradict! It's clear she is just lying about OHS for clout. She also admitted she has BREED PREJUDICE for German shepards, but also "covid" and "Rez" dogs. Yeah. She discriminates based on breed, age, and BEING FROM A NATIVE RESERVATION. This person has no business running an animal shelter and SHOULD BE FIRED IMMEDIATELY. Also I saw their sign says family friendly but she cusses every other word. She got really defensive and claimed to be helping but judging by her demeanor and reviews on other sites, she's just helping herself feel like a good person by putting animals down and giving herself a big salary. Updating this review to say Pixie Project's "low cost" spay has been anything but as the infection my kitten picked up from their unsanitary practices was passed on to my older cat. Two trips to the vet now and $400 in fees and meds. Not worth it! Not from my wallet's point of view and not for my poor kitties. If I could give zero stars I would. This review is for the customer service I received after my kitten was spayed. That process was relatively easy. However, what happened to my kitten AFTER her spay with Pixie Project has been awful. I took my kitten to pixie project for a spay, five days later she's sneezing, drooling, white filmy eyes, complete lethargic and won't eat. I then had to take my cat to an emergency clinic when she was running a fever of 105. Pixie project takes in all animals, feral and domesticated, without checking vaccines, and obviously without making sure that feral animals, or any animals, are spaced away from each other. When I sent them an email, I got a call back completely dismissing my concerns, and when I asked for reimbursement in the medications I needed to buy for my cat, I was told that "if I had called and talked to them, then they would've given the medication for free". This was NOT stated anywhere or made known to me when I picked her up. They told me how to look after her, but never informed me that if she got sick they will give her free medication. And when I told her that, she told me she would not reimburse me for any medication, even though they do it for free. Pixie Project is by appointment only with a nearly 3 month wait, so obviously I had to take my cat somewhere that does walk ins. Totally disappointed in the lack of safety protocols and the lack of care and compassion for other peoples' animals. Lets talk about Amy and how she handles situations of REHOMING I have a 9 month old puppy who she suggested (without meeting YET that this puppy be put down because he is a whiny puppy... pulls on a leash and barks at other dogs because he's a bit anxious. Going through some personal as well as mental health issues it is overwhelmingly overstimulating and i bit off more than i can chew by getting a second puppy, hoping to give my first puppy who is a year now a companion and playmate. First time puppy owner mistake... admitted and noted... however Amy dropped numerous F bombs saying fuck me, for "arguing my case" that i wasnt looking to have him put down. But to find him someone capable of training him and giving him a good home and better life than i am able to at this moment. He does bark but he is a good dog and just needs the right owner and she said she would meet him but even before doing so. She was leaning in the direction of putting him down. My arguing was because i know the dog is deserving of a good life. Not to be put to sleep because i'm autistic and stuggling.... I have nothing but great things to say about Pixie Project. They may have alternative methods for human or animal care in some instances, but to me, they are justified. Pixie Project paired me with an animal I had been looking for most of my life. I have previously lived with cats as an adult, and usually two at a time. When I lost 2 cats right after one another and had an empty home. I decided a dog would be most appropriate to fill that void at this time of my life. The adoption experience was very fast, and Pixie Project set me up so it was almost impossible to fail. We first met our dog in a foster home. The couple taking care of the dog let us into their home for an hour, answered all our questions, and followed up with a detailed email about what our dog had been eating, how they had been behaving, etc. I fell in love instantly. When it came time for the trial adoption, I got a detailed handout, leashes, food for several weeks, toys, a crate and much more. But it didn't end there. Two, three, four weeks into the process I still had questions, and Pixie Project answered them by text the same day, in a matter of hours. I have taken some time before posting this review because I had a very emotional experience with pixie project of portland oregon. I rescued two cats from the streets, It was over 100 degrees they were skinny, flea infested, Earmite infested, and not neutered. I brought them home feed them got rid of fleas and mites, got them neutered and first set of shots. Taught them to play and walk on a leash. I knew when I took them in I could not keep them. I am in my mid 70s already have two cats, and a husband that is fighting cancer. But wanted to help them. Set up to surrender them to pixie project, one of the cats is not friendly with other cats except his brother, which cause a problem with my cats but he was a great cat never bit or scratched, always used cat box, didn't claw furniture very good manors and was very cuddly, both of them were cuddly. So when I surrendered them immediately they euthanized the one that didn't like other cats said he was dangerous, and then his brother howled for his brother when he was gone so they euthanized him also cause it upset the other cats. I just wanted to to suggest if your cat you are surrendering is not a perfect angel find somewhere else, or find a home for them yourself. I have posted a picture of them in their memory. read more

I'm an experienced former cat owner, foster volunteer, with a successful business and in great housing. They would not let me adopt an adult cat who has been on display in a pet store for a very long time because I recently moved into a new apartment. I went home today feeling utterly defeated that this beautiful animal has to continue living in a cage because of pixie project's policies. In a bittersweet turn of events I was approved by a different adoption center later today. However it is very unfair to the cat in pixie project's care that another kitty will go home before her. read more

Our kid went into have a visit with the Pixie Project. Full disclosure, they are in their 20's and over committed with a puppy; but they love the animal so much that they now know they want a better place with someone who can take care of it. The owner, Amy, her first comment was to tell them to euthanize the animal. She did not give any other options or potential other routes for adoption at her business or any other. If this is not inhumane as well as pushing your position of authority around I do not know what is. Especially with her bio page reading, and I quote: "Amy's past experiences made her want to make sure Pixie addressed some of the larger problems that she saw in the animal rescue world - lack of customer service and not enough dedication to owners." I feel maybe the years of working with animals have had their toll on the poor lady. I can only hope that she finds what brought her into this business in the beginning. read more

Count me as one of the naysayers. I tried to volunteer here a few years back. On my second time volunteering, they brought out a small dog for me to walk. Once we got outside, it became apparent that the dog had not been properly leashed. She very quickly got out of her collar and leash, and ran into very busy traffic on MLK. I just about had a heart attack, thinking she would surely die. Somehow, drivers saw her, slowed down, and she made it across the street and then back again. She went to a parking lot behind the pixie project. I tried to lure her with treats, but she was not having it. She finally ran around the building and to the front door, where one of the employees let her in, obviously thinking I just let her off leash at the door. I was too much in shock to say anything at that moment. That week I sent them a resignation letter and explained what had happened. From reading other reviews on Yelp, this place is obviously some rich kid's vanity project. They don't pay attention and don't train volunteers well, just sad. read more

She gave me some standard customer service BS line at the end of our conversation b/c she didn't want to answer a question of mine. I should have looked at the reviews prior to making an appointment to talk about our dog maybe finding a better home. My husband and I recently had to move from our property with a large back yard to an apartment and are expecting a baby next month. We already have two large dogs and the most recent dog we got is a teenage puppy and just has to much energy and need for human attention we cant give in an apartment and especially with a newborn. I mentioned our dog has anxiety since moving to an apartment and has a hard time walking on the busy downtown streets and they make her anxious because it's not what she's used too. Right off the bat she said we should put our dog down because anxiety and dogs with anxiety can be "dangerous". I was so taken back I started to feel sick. She next stated she's vegan like that would make her opinion to kill my happy dog any less cruel. She does not need to be put down, she needs home with someone that has more free time and space than a couple with a new born baby in an apartment. If we cannot find a safe better home for her we will keep her and work with her until we have a yard again even though it's hard for us. We were just pondering other options. I wouldn't dare put an innocent dog down for being anxious with life major life and environment changes just to make our life easier. If you are interested in fostering, I would not recommend TPP. I own that I assumed a few things that were not correct. For example: I would know what the issues were with the dog we were fostering up front. If I needed special skills or knowledge to support the dog, that would have been thoroughly addressed up front. These were not valid assumptions. Next time I'll know I'm ready before I accept the dog. I was paired with a dog I knew nothing about prior to arrival at my house (different than the dogs we initially talked about.) The dog (6 yr old female from Texas, husky/lab mix) was presented as neglected and recovering from parasites, needing time to heal, rest and be supported through any separation anxiety. I was asked to give the dog trazadone for a week at night to help it sleep. I assumed this was doable and if it had been just those issues, I think it would have been. Quickly we realized the dog had major potty training trauma. I didn't know what to do with this so I reached out to the owner of TPP. I received encouragement but also conflicting support (ex: short walks, no walks, just sit in one place until she goes, don't sit - just stand, go back in as soon as it's clear she's not going, don't engage with the dog just pop out - but take treats to engage good behavior, don't focus on training at all, give more medication). As I tried to follow the advice, things got worse. The dog seemed more and more anxious, biting the leash, pulling, panting and refusing to potty outside. (Of course, I was changing method everytime the owner told me to!) We were spending hours trying to walk/not walk/sit to go potty. If I had a yard, maybe I could have made it work, but there were bits of poop everywhere in the house. After 3 days with the dog I was disheartened and struggling. I told the owner that a 'newbies' class would have been helpful for me. It would have prepared me more for what I could commit to or not. The owner was offended and said "Never in the 13 years I've been doing this" has anyone asked for something like that. I was surprised as that was a sharp change in tone from her. Later that day we had a phone call that was bizarre and adversarial. She explained she had given me perfect advice, the dog only had few behavior issues and obviously doing the wrong things. - Which I'm fully admitting! That's why I was asking for help! Again she said "never in the 13 years I've been doing this" has anyone not felt perfectly supported (Yelp disagrees). I got off the call and I was shocked. I knew it was over. I would receive no more support from her. I resigned to taking the dog back. It was heartbreaking. read more

I take full responsibility and ownership of being a bad pet owner and trying to re-home our family dog who we made a commitment to. Feel free to judge me because it was horrible on my part. And quite frankly, I judge myself. Harshly. The Pixie Project killed our dog within less than a week of being there. We have always kept him safe from running away because we were warned that he should not be around cats. "No cats" was almost literally the only cautionary information we received from Pixie Project. We adopted him when he was two-and-a-half and put our hearts into providing a safe and loving home for him. His instincts kicked in if he saw "prey" (cats) and we were careful to keep him away from them for 10 years while making sure he got outside to exercise and socialize. For 10 years, he was a dependable running buddy. He was extremely gentle with our small poodle and two young children. At times he showed anxiety over strangers he felt threatened by, but always calmed down in about 30 seconds. (We inferred he was possibly abused before we adopted him.) Starting in 2014, I had a 3 year battle with some health struggles that made it increasing difficult to provide the attention/training/exercise he needed and deserved. Unfortunately after our relocation of homes, some problems arose immediately. My 2-year-old opened doors (before we installed childproof doorknobs) to the outside and our dog was an escape artist. He did this maybe a total of 4 times at the farmhouse. On his last escape incident, our dog bolted over to the neighbors' chicken coup where his instincts took over and he encountered chickens--killing one and hurting three others. My heart broke that he took the life of someone else's "pet" and hurt a source of their food. My heart broke that, although I tried, I failed in previous training for him to stop charging at smaller prey. My heart broke that my two-year-old expresses feelings of guilt for letting our dog outside (though I was careful not to place that heavy blame on a two-year-old). My heart broke that my kind neighbors were now freighted of our dog. My heart broke that if it happened again, he was at risk that a neighbor could take a shotgun to him. My heart broke that I knew I had failed miserably as his owner. It was at this point we realized this wasn't a healthy situation for anyone. Even our dog. Pixie repeatedly insisted, that if at any point we needed to re-home him, we were to return him to Pixie Project. We were instructed *not* to find another home for him. It was a brutal and painful decision to make the call to the Pixie Project. Amy made sure to shame me, knowing nothing of our personal struggles or that all we wanted was a better life for our dog than we could currently provide. I didn't so much mind the fact she shamed me. Or that when she asked me what our dog is like (as it's necessary information for his next owner), she cut me off and did not allow me to finish explaining about our dog's personality or experience with us and changed the subject to when we would bring him in. I should have asked her more specific questions such as, "What behavior might warrant euthanization and how many days will you give him to find a new owner before you put him down?" "Are you going to actively try to find him a safe home before euthanizing." 4 days after we returned our dog to Pixie Project, my brother called saying his friend *really* wanted to adopt our dog after hearing about this and had a great lifestyle for him. I recommended he be assertive in making sure to connect with them ASAP as it is a challenge to reach them. By the time Pixie Project called back, it was too late. They had put our dog down without giving him a chance, claiming his behavior (while suddenly being relocated from a comfy home to the shelter for a short time) warranted his death. He was a confused and scared animal in a confusing and scary place. It would have been even more abnormal if he had *not* shown anxiety and protective instincts in that situation. I will never trust this organization again and I beg all to not make the same terrible mistake I did. I never...(repeat), NEVER would have given my dog back to Pixie. We trusted they would try to give him a safe home that he deserved. We thought we were doing the right thing. I can't go back in time to save our dog, but I can, hopefully, save the life of another deserving animal from these inhuman and lazy decisions by an organization. I made a horrible, permanent decision and cost one of our family members' life. I take responsibility for this. I will never forgive myself and I learned from this experience. But you, Pixie Project. You euthanized my dog within a week. A dog that we could have just found a better home for within days. A home he deserved if you hadn't insisted he come to you first. read more

So when I decided I needed a companion My Son in San Francisco and I went through all the Cats available over several weeks and of course picked out the cutest ones after reading the bios, especially the Tuxedo Cats and made a list of them to check out at Pixie. Well, the one that we decided was probably the right one did not even give me the time of day. But here comes this rejected Tuxedo (Campy was his name) who did not have the perfect markings and wound his body around my legs never leaving my side while in the Room. Hook line and sinker I was his new Mommy. But I wanted two Cats so I kept looking and found Pandora who walked up to the cage door. Now Pandora ,10 year old, was under medical care so I had to wait for the all, clear sign off. I am a Senior so 10 year old timid little girl was just fine, yes, she is a little Snowshoe cat with chipmunk cheeks and Gray/Blue cross eyed eyes. Pandora changed into Panda Chipmunk girl and Campy is Hoodini who is absolutely not timid and loves zoommies! Panda's favorite pastime is digging around in the Toybox for her favorite toys and of course sleeping a lot. Hoodini got his name because the minute I took my eyes of him he disappeared into thin air.Checked everywhere in my Apt until I noticed a small bottom drawer in the kitchen was not closed all the way and no matter how hard I tried to close the drawer it would not budge. So I pulled the drawer out to check what was keeping it from closing and DRUM Roll!! It was Campy err I mean my escape artist Hoodini. He is now a very Big boy at 20lbs and every night he wants to wedge himself into Cupboards which are now locked but he keeps trying (one track mind). Needless to say all 3 of us are very happy together. Reading all the 1 star reviews is pretty comical. Especially the one about the aggressive dog and Amy. I know it's sad, but come on. Sounds like this Amy character has really ruffled some feathers. If I dealt with Amy, she was super friendly, as were the other people working. I took my 1 year old kitty in to be neutered, got in sooner than anticipated, they were very punctual and the process was seamless. They even trimmed my little dude's nails while he was under which was a DELIGHT to realize when he started kneading on me again. I'd definitely bring another kitty in to have his nuts nixed. Have attached the emails from the staff about the appointment. Got there at 8:30 am, and only one wearing a mask was told I didn't feel out forms. I went over the email a few times before going and did all the steps I was told in the emails. Staff, guess Amy said, "I always put in the link so you didn't read all the email." I did and was told no but rude Amy. I've tried to reply to Amy to let her know and email will not go through to that email. Was just going to address the human mistake that was made but clearly Amy doesn't make mistakes. That attitude like that is disgusting in general, then to work with the public is not a good mix. We adopted a dog named Nacho in March 2022 was told he was 6yrs. old and in great health. After a $500 Vet visit today, we found out Nacho is 10yrs. old and has an enlarged heart from heartworm and has an arthritic left hip. We love Nacho and will give him a good life till the end. This is a fantastic, non-profit animal adoption & rescue center is located right in the heart of PDX! They are not focused on just making a buck (like a lot of stores/breaders are), but rather they really strive to find a small companion that's the RIGHT fit for your personality, lifestyle, and living situation. And even better, you can feel good knowing that most of the pets available are from over-crowded shelters and rescues from more rural areas of Oregon that otherwise might have been euthanized. They also offer pet owner education, and provide low cost or free spay/neuter and other veterinary services for homeless or low-income pet owners. Finally, all of the proceeds from their small pet store go right back to supporting their non-profit services (their gift cards make great presents to pet-owning friends/family!) Honestly, the more you learn about this place, the better you feel about supporting it versus their big-box competitors like CatCo or what have you. When I'm ready to find a furry friend (not the PDX hipster kind), this will definitely be my first stop. read more

Be wary of this well meaning group. I adopted a cat and was told he was one year old. Right away, I found out he was closer to 5 by a vet who looked at his teeth and told me he has the disease Feline Oral Resorptive Lesions. I have since had this diagnosis confirmed by 2 other vet clinics. Initially, I was shown just how bad his teeth and gums where when I adopted. I didn't think to look in his mouth! I assume they had given him a thorough exam. I did not return the cat because I am of the mind when you adopt, you adopt for life. I love my little guy and have no regrets. I am stunned at the traumatic experience I just witnessed. This place should not be in business & I don't understand how it has such high ratings...they killed my roommate's dog, Fuzz, and LIED ABOUT IT TO HER MULTIPLE TIMES. About a week ago she took him there after no luck finding a foster home on her own. (She just moved here & the apartment said she can't have him here bc he's a Chow Chow. Breed discrimination is a whole other issue.) They were clear that they were willing to help us look for a foster home for him. She said if they couldn't find anyone or had any problems with him that she would take him back. There was NOTHING on the paperwork about putting animals down. NOTHING. This is so horrific... A woman who raises Chows called us while he was at Pixie wanting to adopt him. She called us again later & told us they wouldn't let her adopt him because he was "under observation" so my roommate emailed/called them numerous times to figure out what that meant. They completely dropped contact with her yesterday, so we went in this morning to talk to Amy & see Fuzz. We were told she was not in the office but were assured she would call asap & that she was looking forward to talking to us. Someone else told her that Fuzz couldn't be visited bc he was in a foster home. After spending ALL DAY today trying to get ahold of Amy, she finally called back & told us he was a "dangerous animal" & they put him down because they "couldn't allow him to go back into the community". Soooo I guess they literally just lied about the foster home?! I have no idea what happened in that shelter as she wouldn't say, but somehow I doubt it was the dog's fault. Before Pixie Project, he was staying at Dog & Cat Townhouse on Sandy Blvd. He had a great time there & nobody had any behavioral problems with him. The staff had only positive things to say. When asked WHY THEY DIDN'T CALL HER TO TAKE HIM BACK, Amy had no answer. None. He has a big bark & can be skittish around new people, but he's never hurt anyone. When I first met him, I was just patience & respectful & he was fine around me in a couple of days. It doesn't add up. He's NEVER been dangerous or tried to bite. He got off his leash once & just trotted around all jolly down the street sniffing the flowers... They killed a 70 year old woman's best friend. She is absolutely heart broken. Nobody deserves this - neither Fuzz nor the people he loved & who loved him. Please don't take your pet there if you care for their life at all. read more

We have been fostering for The Pixie Project for almost a year. We have received amazing support from everyone at Pixie, especially Amy. It has truly been an awesome and rewarding experience. Amy has graciously made herself available to fosters 24x7. I tested this out when I needed to call her for advice at 10pm one night. She could have easily blown me off until the next day, but she didn't. She took my call, patiently listened to my concern, and offered a solution that I was able to implement immediately. I would also like to comment on the poor review that mentions the negative experience with the husky/lab mix. Her name is Annie. She is with us now. She has not pottied in my house not once. She walks beautifully on leash, no biting the leash or pulling or panting. She is adjusting and settling in quickly. So, perhaps fostering dogs is not for everyone, but please don't blame Pixie. If you have some dog experience and would like to open your heart to a foster who just needs a little TLC until they find their forever family, then please give Pixie a chance. You may also foster cats if that suits you best. I can't say enough positive things about The Pixie Project and Amy. Not only do they offer pet adoption services, they also provide pet owner education/support as well as low cost/free spay and neuter, and veterinary services for homeless and low-income pet owners. There is a great need for these services in our community and kudos to Pixie for making them available. Thank you Amy and staff for all that you do and making such a huge impact! read more

I adopted a senior dog from them 1 year ago. Last week the poor dog had to be euthanized. Right from the start they lied to me about his age, health and emotional problems. When questioned abut these things, the owner "Amy", started texting me saying awful things. She went on with the nasty texts for at least 15 minutes. She is not a person that anyone with a heart should have to deal with. Instead of her rich parents buying her an animal rescue (complete with a building on MLK) they should have invested in on-going mental health care for their daughter. Please don't adopt from The Pixie Project. There are many reputable animal rescues in the Portland area that are kind and care about the animals they rescue that you can adopt from. read more

I used to work there. Do not give up your scared or fearful or aggressive dogs there. They aren't willing to work with them and they get put down immediately. They do not give the dogs second chance to live. I've seen beautiful shy dogs and they got put down. I'm so happy I left and never want to recommend or to work there again. The Pixie Project... absolutely not!!! I am appalled by the unethical treatment they showed to my family and the poor dog we had been caring for in this last month. We had committed to adopt Lennon and worked really hard to help him be part of a healthy family, have fun playing with children in the yard, and going for frequent walks in the Alameda neighborhood. He was being socialized, groomed, cared for and had made new friends. He grew very attached to me, and my teenage daughters, to the point he wouldn't leave our side. Unfortunately, as a one-year-old lab mix, he was a compulsive chewer. Although he had lots of toys and a variety of bone choices he would also find random things to chew. Something made him violently ill with diarrhea and vomiting because one afternoon when I arrived home after work the poor boy was covered with feces and vomit in his kennel. My daughter and I bathed him and helped him to the Fremont Veterinary Clinic. They X-rayed his tummy but didn't find much, which was fortunate since abdominal surgery is prohibitively expensive without insurance. While there, I called the Pixie Project but they were closed and don't post any emergency information in their messages. I left a message with them. I paid the $500.00 bill and we came home. The next morning, Lennon was feeling much better and was eating, but the arrangement was to bring him back to the vet for observation and a possible barium enema. I talked to the clinic at 10:00AM and they said he was fine. I notified the Pixie Project that he was doing much better, but again, they don't answer their phone and are slow to return calls. The doctor in charge decided to contact Amy to get Lennon's medical records regarding vaccines since his illness was a mystery. However, to everyone's surprise, Amy would not provide the records and instead came to seize Lennon saying he is her property. She never contacted me or left a message of her plan. At 4:00PM I was scheduled to meet with the Vet and pick Lennon up when I received a strange call from Denise. She rambled on saying "I should not have taken Lennon to the Fremont Vet," which is absurd, so they have taken possession of the dog and will find a different family. I was floored. That's outrageous. I went to the Veterinary Clinic to discuss the confusion and the Business Manager explained the property rights to me. She felt I had a case of ownership since I had paid $500 dollars for his medical care. She was also concerned because this was highly unethical of Amy, but in Oregon, dogs are considered property and the Pixie Project had never finalized the adoption. Lennon is the loser. He had bonded with us and was showing great improvement. Now he's been traumatized again without reason. I did bring my family to the Pixie group to plead for Lennon's return, but Denise just continued to spin the conversation with nonsense. When I tried to explain what the business manager said about the fees I paid establishing good faith of ownership she said they would write a check. I arrived home and the doctor called to say she had tried to talk to Amy about the situation but Amy was irrational and unwilling to reconsider. At no time did Amy ever have the decency to talk with me before seizing Lennon without my knowledge. We are very hurt by the experience and I can't recommend this business. I may file a complaint with the BBB. read more

I came here to adopt a second cat. So we came by the next day and a different woman was at the front desk and she told us the opposite of what the previous woman told us the day before. She said that we needed to adopt an older cat because that would be a better fit. I told her the that lady from the day before told us differently and that is why we came back for the kittens. We selected a kitten and then we were told that "we can't approve that adoption". Then I repeated again what the other lady had told us and asked to speak with her. So she came out and totally back tracked on what she said and started interrogating me as to why I wanted a cat and why now and so forth. She implied that we would probably return one of the cats and that is why they couldn't let us adopt it. I was heartbroken to say the least because we finally had the space to adopt a second cat and immediately fell in love with little Gonzo. I'm saddened that this organization denied us this opportunity as we would never return any animal that we would adopt, as adoption is a commitment and not out of convenience. We would have loved and cared for Gonzo and done our best to make sure that the transition was a smooth one. I just hope those cats and kittens do find a perfect home and my husband and I will continue our search else where. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place, but if you can, adopt. My daughter spoke to a girl named Amy about her dog. Amy was rude and disrespectful and insulting. She cursed at my daughter her dog is loved and well cared for. He is a happy dog, he just has some bad habits. She was hoping the dog could be trained. Because of Amy I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone. Amy had no right what so ever to speak so disrespectful to my daughter. Clearly she is not a people person. If she were my employee, she would be fired immediately. This business may be good but she is not. I will not recommend this business to anyone. This girl is bad for promising customers. To have an employee like this is shameful. My daughter hung up the phone crying. There is no excuse for Amy's behavior. read more

I volunteered for Pixie for 3 years and I just wanted to put this out there that Amy Saks treats her volunteers very horribly and is very ungrateful to donors. There was an incident where Amy had a female volunteer get her car towed from her lot and the next day when I came to volunteer the girls father was in the lot waiting for me and threatened me . It turned out that Amy told the father that I was the one that had the car towed. Up to this point I donated $500.00 and volunteered at 3 fundraising events and gave unlimited time for the animals. I knew a donor that donated $3,000.00 to them and he told me he quit dealing with them because they never even gave him a "Thank You". I've been yelled at by Amy for stupid things and I've seen her verbally abusive to other volunteers. I strongly suggest to not volunteer and don't give any money. There are other shelters that are more grateful. read more
