Poor baby kitty, completely lethargic and drooling thanks to an infection she picked up at her spay with Pixie Project.
    Robin D.

Updating this review to say Pixie Project's "low cost" spay has been anything but as the infection my kitten picked up from their unsanitary practices was passed on to my older cat. Two trips to the vet now and $400 in fees and meds. Not worth it! Not from my wallet's point of view and not for my poor kitties. If I could give zero stars I would. This review is for the customer service I received after my kitten was spayed. That process was relatively easy. However, what happened to my kitten AFTER her spay with Pixie Project has been awful. I took my kitten to pixie project for a spay, five days later she's sneezing, drooling, white filmy eyes, complete lethargic and won't eat. I then had to take my cat to an emergency clinic when she was running a fever of 105. Pixie project takes in all animals, feral and domesticated, without checking vaccines, and obviously without making sure that feral animals, or any animals, are spaced away from each other. When I sent them an email, I got a call back completely dismissing my concerns, and when I asked for reimbursement in the medications I needed to buy for my cat, I was told that "if I had called and talked to them, then they would've given the medication for free". This was NOT stated anywhere or made known to me when I picked her up. They told me how to look after her, but never informed me that if she got sick they will give her free medication. And when I told her that, she told me she would not reimburse me for any medication, even though they do it for free. Pixie Project is by appointment only with a nearly 3 month wait, so obviously I had to take my cat somewhere that does walk ins. Totally disappointed in the lack of safety protocols and the lack of care and compassion for other peoples' animals. Wish they would hold themselves accountable for not communicating or disinfecting like a vet should.

I have taken some time before posting this review because I had a very emotional experience with pixie project of portland oregon. I rescued two cats from the streets, It was over 100 degrees they were skinny, flea infested, Earmite infested, and not neutered. I brought them home feed them got rid of fleas and mites, got them neutered and first set of shots. Taught them to play and walk on a leash. I knew when I took them in I could not keep them. I am in my mid 70s already have two cats, and a husband that is fighting cancer. But wanted to help them. Set up to surrender them to pixie project, one of the cats is not friendly with other cats except his brother, which cause a problem with my cats but he was a great cat never bit or scratched, always used cat box, didn't claw furniture very good manors and was very cuddly, both of them were cuddly. So when I surrendered them immediately they euthanized the one that didn't like other cats said he was dangerous, and then his brother howled for his brother when he was gone so they euthanized him also cause it upset the other cats. I just wanted to to suggest if your cat you are surrendering is not a perfect angel find somewhere else, or find a home for them yourself. I have posted a picture of them in their memory.

I'd give 0 stars if possible. Got an attitude from one lady that worked at the front. She gave me some standard customer service BS line at the end of our conversation b/c she didn't want to answer a question of mine. A few days to a week later I spoke with another lady with a short haircut who claimed to be a manager: she basically called me stupid while yelling at me in the parking lot b/c I mentioned my dislike of not being able to see their dogs in person. Something I've come to find out nearly EVERY SINGLE find your dog guide suggests! In person is key due to the human error factor, imagine that. Guess my assumption at the time of their practice of not allowing in person visits was correct. MY BACKGROUND: I'm a Honorable Discharge, Navy Marine Corp Achievement Medal Veteran who lost his dog June 4th, 2021 in SE Portland around Cartlandia. His name is Howie and he's a Chihuahua with a touch of Minature Pinscher. He's missing his right (or maybe left) pinky nail on his hind leg.

They discriminate against age. If they feel you are too old they won't let you adopt! This happened to me!

We adopted our pup right at opening time on a weekday which made it really easy and it wasn't busy yet. Highly recommend adopting a dog from Oregon dog rescue.

I have PTSD from the Army, and when I have nightfrights she always comes to me and gives me comfort. She it atuned to my emotions. I take care of her, and she takes care of me. House of Dreams has a medical unit for cats who need separate living quarters while undergoing treatment too. The facility is entirely dependent upon donations, grants and events for funding. Volunteers work every day, 365 days each year, to clean and maintain the shelter, feed and look after resident kitties and those looking for their forever homes. No kitty is turned away. Sharon the owner/the woman who runs this shelter told me that the "family" that dropped them off were completely unreachable. So she asked me to foster them. The day I picked them up I expressed openly that I would want to adopt them (being as they were orphans). One employee and the previous foster mom who passed them to me told me that was possible. Over 3 weeks later we received a phone call from Sharon saying that she had made a mistake and that the family wanted them all back. After the fact that several foster homes raised them during the difficult stages. Of course this was very upsetting and heartbreaking to me and my family. Come to find out she wasn't being truthful about the situation. We were told that it was 1 family that was out of town on a vacation to Europe. But the truth came forth that it wasn't 1 family but yet 3 different people. We have no idea what was in it for her financially but this seemed wrong. I received thereafter a phone call from the police dept. telling me that she was stating that me and my family had stolen these kittens. Demanding their return. This came as an incredible shock to us and our children. Who has done nothing but love, and care for these babies for weeks! My children are devastated to have to have said goodbye to 3 sweet souls that they grew to love. With reluctance we arranged a time and day to return them to her care, to avoid any legal issues. She then proceeded to accuse us of not returning the correct kittens. Again I received another call from the police dept. I just want anyone and everyone to be VERY aware of this shelter and this woman before considering adopting from them. My understanding of a shelter is to give animals a loving home and keep them off the streets. Obviously this is not her/their intent. My want to help and foster has been completely tarnished and I am now scared to ever try and help again. We hope that every animal in need finds a loving home and we would hope that this entire staff of people will find their way back to the intent of this business.....

We requested a low energy dog and was told the one we were interested in was like this. His ad mentioned some training required but that he was otherwise laid back. The shelter told us he was only leash reactive. This was not the case. We brought the dog home and he was high energy and needed an incredible amount of training. Most notably he was highly reactive, which requires special training, and we were never informed he was like this. Reactive dogs can turn aggressive if it is not dealt with. His vet records, which were only given to us after his adoption, showed that he had a long history of reactivity and being on anti-anxiety medication that we were never told about. We reached out to the shelter for help 3 days after bringing the dog home and they didn't respond. It wasn't until we told the shelter that the dog was not a fit for our family that they responded, 2 days after our initial request. The shelter then told us we had to wait 9 more days before we could return the dog to their care, even after requesting a sooner date because he was causing a lot of stress to our household. When we returned the dog, the associate did not let us inside, and took his leash from my hand. I asked if we needed to fill out any intake paperwork. She said no so I asked if we could fill out paperwork because there was a lot of information they didn't tell us about the dog. She said no again, said there wasn't anything else they needed from us, and shut the door in our face. We had to wait nine days for an intake appointment that lasted less than a minute and required nothing but us passing over his leash. This was after we explained the amount of distress he was causing our dogs and the safety risk he posed due to his energy level and my partner's disability. It is clear that the shelter does not care where their dogs end up. This was an incredibly stressful 2 weeks for both my family and the dog because the shelter was not honest about his personality. This dog needs to be with a very specific household, and based on everything we told them about ourselves, we were not it. It seems it was more important to them that he was adopted by somebody, rather than him being adopted by the right family who could provide him what he needs. He suffers the most in this situation.
