Princess' dad and I divorced this last spring and I moved Princess from a house with cats to a petless home. Her dad is keeping the furry kids with him, for reasons that make sense.I didnt mind the lack of vomit, pee, or poop. But. This left my beast loving Princess pining for furry or scaly companionship. We explored the idea of a reptile...I'm just not a reptile person. I tried to get over it, no, just no. So while Princess complained, pined, demanded, cried, attempted emotional blackmail, wheedled and begged, I scoured the local shelter listings for our new cat friend. Ive never really gotten to choose my own feline before. They chose me or were foisted upon me. Just this time I wanted one that called to me. Found him.His picture spoke to me. No. It really did!! He was living here at Animal Aid for the last five months after being moved from Multnomah County Animal Services . Ive had past connections ( a friend adopted two cats here) with Animal Aid and I actually appreciate their somewhat stringent adoption practices. Our kitty was described as misunderstood with a lot of character...Im really good at animals with big personality. Really. I showed Princess his picture and profile on the website. Awwwwww!! Can we go tomorrow??he needs us!! So we did. And we fell hard. We filled out our application and they called our two references, our property manager, and our vet and this weekend he moved in. They very helpfully hung onto him for a few days while we went out of town for a previously planned vacation. The volunteer adoption counselor brought him here with accessories and paperwork and it was clear both she and the staff wanted him to have a great home. He does. We LOVE him already. My daughter was blissful that he slept on the foot of her bed last night. Its a great match. Do check them out if youre looking for a rescue animal. Dont let their rules daunt you. Theyre not snooty or weird, really, they just want their animals to have a permanent loving family and do what they can to make that happen. There isnt anything bad about that. P.s. All the animals are spayed/neutered, up to date on their vaccinations, have had vet care, and are microchipped.

Excellent shelter and adoption center. I got my cat here years ago and she's my best friend :) Animal Aid made sure to take great care of her before I took her home, like making sure she was spayed and up to date on shots, as well as personally dropping her off. They had loads of helpful information on taking care of cats, like recommending food and veterinary clinics. They even gave me a run down on what her favorite activities are! The application process was incredibly easy and stress-free too, which was appreciated as a first time pet owner. Thank you everyone, and Maisie says hi!

Animal Aid is unlike any shelter I've been to because all the dogs and some of the cats are in foster care. The cats that are on site live in community rooms. There are no rows of depressing steel cages. Instead the cats get to run around, play with toys or nap in the sunshine. The Animal Aid staff members care deeply about the cats' welfare and are always seeking ways to improve the shelter. As a new volunteer, I've witnessed several extremely shy cats come out of their shells and become more adoptable. Please take a look at the cats (and dogs!) online at http://www.animalaidpdx.org/ or visit the shelter if you're interested in adopting a pet from a worthy organization.

Great animal rescue group with a dedicated staff and group of volunteers, of which I have been one for 19 years.

I've been taking Willow, my Old English Sheepdog, to grooming on Macadam for almost 2 years now. I…read morehave recommended them to multiple people and cannot say enough good things! We had Megan first and now Hazel and Willow always look's great! Krissy is also so helpful and has given me so many tips and tricks to keep willow from getting matted and not needing shaved down! Ann is great too and always gives me a 20 min heads up before they're done with her!

A few weeks before my grooming appointment, I met with Krissy and shared photos of the exact poodle…read morecut I wanted. Krissy assured me she had 20 years of grooming experience. Request: A poodle lamb cut - shorter on the body with fuller legs, a well-shaped top knot, and a fluffy tail. Result: The top knot was acceptable, but the legs were thin and uneven, and the tail was poorly shaped. Overall, the coat on both the body and the legs appeared jagged, as if dull clipper blades had been used. The photos speak for themselves. Problem: I requested a refund and was referred to the owner, Suzanne Hein, who was pleasant to deal with. She told me she consulted her "anonymous poodle group" and said, "Your name came up for refunds." I explained that I had tried several groomers in 2025 and was struggling to find one experienced in proper poodle cuts. She also shared that Krissy is a self-taught groomer. We ultimately agreed on a 50% refund. Solution: This was my FINAL experience with a commercial groomer. Over the past month, I studied Poodle Clipping and Grooming: The International Reference, joined a DIY poodle grooming group on Facebook, watched numerous grooming videos, and invested in professional equipment. I groomed my poodle myself this weekend, and she looks FANTASTIC!

Everyone was so kind and knowledgeable! Very professional. And it reflects in the price. If you…read morehave the means, I would recommend using them. I've only heard good things from my friends who have used them.

Long story short(ish)- our kitty had what appeared to be an "injury" on his back leg but our…read moreregular vet wasn't so sure. He was beginning to lose muscle mass and wasn't putting weight on his leg (within just 3 weeks) and even with an xray, did not find any breaks or dislocations. So she recommended we seek a second opinion from an orthopedic surgeon. After doing some research and finding a certified surgeon with so many great reviews, I brought my 2 year old kitty in for a consult with Dr Kramer in mid July. He was able to diagnose out him with Legg-Perthes disease and recommended a double FHO as he actually was painful in both back legs and had fractures in both. We agreed and our kitty had surgery 2 weeks later. After the surgery Dr. K called and told us that our boy did great! I was so relieved but I trusted this team. It has been a month since surgery and he is running up and down the stairs, jumping a little and is no longer in any pain. Before the surgery he couldn't walk more than a few steps without needing to lie down and he needed us to carry him up the stairs. Just as quickly as he declined initially, he's improving even faster after his surgery. He's our happy little guy again and even picking on his brother like he used to. AND my kids can pick him up for hugs again! Every one at OREV was kind and compassionate and took the time to answer all my questions and gave me thorough updates when our kitty was there overnight after his surgery. They eased my worries and just made this experience better (when you can imagine how scary it was). They kept telling me how much they enjoyed our cat's personality and kept him company throughout this process. Thank you OREV, I don't write many reviews but I am so grateful we found you and for your help that I just had to.
