From the moment you walk in you are greeted with smiles! Everyone that works here is so sweet and go out if their way to make you feel comfortable and relaxed! They take their time in discussing everything they are going to do or did to your child!

Our first visit here was fantastic! It was time for my little guy to go for his first check up and I was definitely nervous and unsure how it would all go. Scheduling was easy. My son loved the front area which had plenty to keep him entertained and we went back within 5 minutes of arrival to be seen. Everyone was pleasant, my son loved his hygienist and let her clean his teeth and do the fluoride without any fuss- Huge (welcomed) surprise for me! Being his first time, I expected it to be less than smooth or easy and we were literally in and out within about 35 minutes! Great appointment and I'm sure my son will be happy to go back again in 6 months!

Showing off clean teeth!

Beware dentist holds your child down while screaming in fear as fillings are placed or even for an examination. Also Dental Assistants will speak Spanish to each other in front of patients and in "lab room" gossip is no good unless you hear and understand their language then you will definitely be shocked. Being bilingual is huge here and they seem to exclude others who are not bilingual patients or other workers. A drama place behind patients and in front of patients... Remember who is paying the Dentists home mortgage and car luxury... and referring patients to a horrible Ortho as Freytag will slowly catch up for these two are wonderful "friends" =money more kids =more money and they don't use a good cleaning on kids it's all done fast using only hydrogen peroxide and water lol for kids cleaning ofc this dentist loves future fillings ... dentist buys them for 10.99 filling then has dental insurance covers the rest as a doctor and then over charges the patient like 300.00 for "time placing" and makes 300.00 on top of his out of pocket 10.00 expanse lol this place is honestly ghetto.

We've been going to Dr. LaCorte for over 6 years. When our son was little he refused to be examined…read morein the dental chair, so he was examined standing in the corner as he wanted. One time Dr. LaCorte was putting on blue exam gloves and my son said, "I want him to wear purple gloves," so Dr. LaCorte put on purple gloves. As our son aged he was willing to sit in the exam chair, but only if he could sit on my lap. So, his exams, fillings, cleanings have all been done sitting in my lap. Neither of our kids have any fears of going to the dentist. Our daughter has had cavities in her front teeth for about 1.5 years. Dr. LaCorte is keeping a good eye on them, but since they don't hurt her and should fall out soon, he is not putting her through the experience of getting fillings. (He did put caps on her back teeth because those won't fall out for many, many years to come.) He was just as noninvasive with our son's chipped front tooth. It was only one tooth and it didn't hurt him. Dr. LaCorte watched the tooth. Then our son complained it hurt one day. We were able to get a same day appt. After x-rays, an exam, and questioning our son (who decided it didn't hurt afterall,) he recommended holding off on intervention. Eventually the tooth fell out and our son was spared unnecessary (expensive) intervention. I am shocked at all the pediatric dentists that refuse to allow parents in the exam room once a child turns three. How traumatizing that must be for the little kids. Parents, you have a voice. Do not let dentists bully you or your children. Select a dentist that supports parental presence. Dr. LaCorte has always been gentle and does not push lots of interventions. See him or another dentist with the same beliefs and standards.

Tucson Smiles does allow parents in the back but they act like it is a huge inconvenience and stuck me in a very uncomfortable chair in a tight space behind an xray arm. They gave me a sheet that stated I wasn't to talk to anyone during the visit or be on my phone.. Both dentist were very nice to my kids. They truly seemed to care about their patients and did not want them to be afraid but on several occasions kids could be heard crying from the waiting room. I'd been with our previous dentist for a decade and only hear crying once and it was from a kid that was upset about getting in the chair. That isn't very reassuring when you tell me you prefer if my child goes back for their procedures alone. I had been told before we left our previous dentist that my child had a dark spot on a baby tooth but didn't recommend fixing because it wasn't yet a cavity and was due to fall out in the next year. Tucson smiles recommended filling the area anyway just in case. When I explained I'd rather just wait for areas that were not yet through the top layer for teeth that were already wiggly she got annoyed and wouldn't make eye contact. They do have TV's in the room but they keep the volume on mute which means the kids still have the drill sound. Seems like that would be an advantage to having the sound on. Maybe provide headphones?

They stated that the first appointment was for 1 hour so there should be plenty of time and it was the last appointment before the lunch break. It was $125 for the dentist to look at her tooth which I already knew was a small cavity as we were just switching from a previous dentist because I thought it would be better to use a "pediatric dentist". They seemed pissed that I did not want x rays (which she clearly didn't need). After looking at her tooth, I asked if they had time to do the SDF treatment (which takes 10-15 minutes max once her mouth is open). The dentist said "we don't have time in our schedule". I said "Okay, it's just a long drive for us." He rudely said "Well. Wish we were closer to your house but... we're not." Next day we went back for the SDF treatment, I asked for him to apply the fluoride varnish on a tooth that had the start of a cavity. He said, "I looked at her teeth yesterday, there is no cavity there." I said, "okay, do you mind taking a look?" He said "Do you think it changed in a day?" Her previous dentist had already mentioned there was the start of a cavity on that tooth and you can clearly see the dark spots from the plaque. He is just arrogant and rude. He did the SDF treatment, did not apply fluoride to the tooth I asked, and dropped the SDF on her face so now there is a 3 inch mark on her cheek that will take 2-3 weeks to come off. There also is no play area for toddlers while they wait, only screens everywhere... I do not know how this guy has such good reviews but he must have paid a lot of money for them because they can't be real.

The cost of the estimate was well within what I had thought especially being out of network. Would highly recommend. Dr. Chavez also takes new patients and when she schedules for a new patient, she does a comprehensive exam with consultation! I have never heard of that before but that only adds to the positive experience of this dental office. Thank you so much!

They handled the confusion in getting my prescription filled in minutes. Extremely kind, courteous, and professional. The Dentists should feel blessed to have them working there. Thankful they have laughing gas. Not so thankful because I started crying during the procedure and my nose got plugged so it didn't work. Tried a new place because I was dissapointed in the front office at my old place. I left this place feeling traumatized. I left feeling like my level of comfort was thrown out the window, all the while they were selling me something. Dental work is expensive, even with insurance. Always willing to pay and have paid! As I write this review, weeks later, I still feel emotional. Anger, hurt, and sad should not be words used to describe a customer experience. I had to reschedule my new patient consult once initially as I was told the appointment would be 2 hours and I wanted to make sure I had child care and could get off work. I called today (for a second time) as the appt in November would no longer work for me. It's October 14th. The man seemed irritated and told me they have a policy for rescheduling and was like "well what's the reason"? When I explained I was a single mom and knew for sure I would have help in December when I wanted to reschedule there was no kindness or understanding. I'm not asking for pity, but to have a "policy" about rescheduling a new patient appointment weeks in advance seems unfair. This was by no means last minute or just because. I had valid reasons. It is unfortunate as this is close to my house and seemed to have good reviews through UHC. This person could definitely benefit from additional training.
