Updating my Review: After experiencing issues with my new 2026 Kia Sportage, including concerns regarding the driver-side door and handle, management has now stepped in and is currently working with me toward a resolution after I reached out to Kia Customer Care for assistance. However, as far as my personal experience with salesperson Malike Freeman, I would not recommend purchasing a vehicle through him. My experience was that once the sale was completed, communication and follow-through regarding my concerns were lacking. I believe customer service should continue even after the paperwork is signed. I do appreciate management now responding and assisting with resolving the situation, and I hope the repair process continues smoothly moving forward. read more

Terrible incompetent customer service and the general sales manager Darwin is very unprofessional and very hard to work with. Can't seem to pull up basic information. I did the official finance application online not the one where you just put your email and telephone number the one where you put your job, Social Security, etc. when I called back to see if they received it the customer service reps told me they have it and when I got transferred to Darwin, he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about pretended like I was lying and treated me like trash. I repeat never do business with this company. It's not worth it. I was already preapproved and I had the money cash to pay for the down payment and they just lost a sale. I recently purchased a car from this dealership and unfortunately, my experience after signing the paperwork was extremely disappointing. I worked with Malik, and on the day I finalized everything, I was promised that the car would be delivered to me. That delivery never happened. We were texting back and forth about it, and then suddenly his phone was off for about three hours. I genuinely thought I had been scammed and even went as far as canceling the insurance on the vehicle. He later called back saying his phone had died, but instead of delivery, I was told I needed to drive from Brooklyn to Woodside, Queens at 9 PM to pick up the car. I didn't get home until 11 PM. On top of that, I was given two keys, but one of them did not even belong to my car. When I brought this to his attention, I was told that his manager would not fix the issue because I "got a good deal" on the car. Mind you the key is $1,000. I attempted to contact the manager several times and never received a response. There was also an issue with the driver-side speaker not working. They initially agreed to fix it and said they would order the part, but after that conversation, they completely stopped responding to me. Overall, once the sale was completed, the customer service completely disappeared. Based on my experience, this dealership operates in a very unprofessional manner and does not stand by its word. I recently purchased a 2024 Alfa Romero Tonale with just over 3000 miles on it. I basically bought it sight unseen over the phone and picked up the car 3 days later. The sales people were great to work with, the process was smooth and fast. I was out of the showroom in under 90 minutes. The follow up after purchase was also excellent. The car overall is new. I will say the battery was needing to be replaced as the car even though is new it had sat for a few months between trade in and resale so that's not really a reflection of the dealership. Still under warranty it was replaced by Alfa Romero. I would buy again from this dealership. Their used vehicle inventory presently are all good and of course they have new cars. Again I can speak to the 3 sales folks I interacted with and all were above board and at no time did I feel they were trying to upsell me or change the deal at all. read more

The agreed total price was $58,623.50, which already included taxes, fees, and a $1,500 Lojack. However, the dealership later sent me a final bill for $67,476.13 -- nearly $9,000 higher -- by adding items I never approved: Tire & Wheel: $2,710 Prestige Shield Warranty: $5,421 These were never discussed, signed for, or authorized. When I researched online, I found many customers reporting the same behavior from Northstar Kia -- unauthorized add-ons and deceptive pricing. I'm asking Northstar Kia's upper management to contact me directly to remove or refund these unauthorized charges totaling $9,631 and correct the sales paperwork to the original agreed amount of $58,623.50. read more

Northstar Kia is a very disorganized and unprofessional place. I made an appointment to see a used car they had for sale. They dictated the time of the appointment. I had no choice, but I confirmed appointment numerous times over the course of a week. I get to the show room. They have no idea who I am, but say they will show me car "right away." I'm sitting in show room for over an hour waiting for salesman to show me car. Just unprofessional and disorganized place of business. No apologies either. Wonderful customer service, a clean quiet and comfortable waiting area to wait while you're car is being taken care of. There is a clean bathroom, a coffee maker, mini fridge full of cold waters and comfortable chairs. Not much more you could ask for. The kia service people are really wonderful- professional and let you know about anything they find in inspection as they go through! Shannon is the service manager and is so wonderful and responsive! I guarantee if you have any question or issue w your car, she will take care of it for you. This has been the most frustrating attempt I've ever had to give someone my money. April 6: I contacted Northstar Kia via their website about a used Ram ProMaster, noting I was out-of-state and requesting details and media since I couldn't visit. Their reply asked if I'd like to see a "Mitsubishi" today or tomorrow, ignoring my questions and situation. I clarified and reasked. April 7: Daisha Cepeda emailed a Carfax summary but didn't address my questions. I replied, still seeking answers. Throughout, I got automated emails from Daisha, Nairoby Valverde, and Ludys Acosta, adding confusion. I responded each time, asking for updates. I expect Bibi Singh will reply to this review with apologies and his email, but I doubt this dealership can regain my trust. April 15: A text via their CRM finally included photos and video. I asked for pricing. The next day, Pierre Rothwell texted, offering to call. I said anytime; I just wanted numbers. April 19: I checked if the text number was active. April 22: I emailed for an update. Ludys called, saying the price with no trade/no financing was the Retail Price ($44,000) plus taxes, DMV, and a $175 doc fee--nothing else. I confirmed that with $3,000 in taxes/DMV, the out-the-door (OTD) price would be $47,175. She agreed, noting a sales manager would calculate exact taxes. April 23: An email said Pierre would reach out soon. He called that evening, saying the internet price included a $1,000 financing discount and a $2,500 trade-in discount. I said I could be there on the 26th if the numbers worked. He promised OTD numbers after consulting his sales manager. April 24: A text told me to contact Pierre's cell. I asked for an ETA on OTD numbers. He said his sales manager would provide them the next day. April 26: Pierre texted that the sales manager was working on it and would contact me soon. Later, I asked again. He replied: "The numbers are in: $54,500 OTD." April 28: I thanked Pierre but questioned the $54,500 OTD price, reminding him of Ludys' quote: vehicle price plus taxes, DMV, and $175 doc fee. I requested a breakdown. He said the van was priced at $47,995 (not $44,000 as before). I noted $54,500 minus $47,995 left $6,505 in taxes/fees and asked for clarification. April 29: I texted for an update. Pierre replied, "Taxes, tags, fees," and called. I asked for specifics, but he couldn't provide them, mentioning a Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) and saying details would be on the buyer sheet when I was ready to buy. I insisted I needed numbers first. Later, I calculated taxes and fees for a $47,995 price at $3,257.95, leaving $3,247.05 unexplained. I asked what these "fees" were; Pierre said he'd inform his manager. May 6: I texted asking when the manager would respond. No reply. I never got to negotiate the price. I drove 2+ hours with a sale price and trade in price agreed upon in principle. I spoke with Monica Sebring (Sales Manager at Northstar Kia) and we agreed on a trade in value of $7,900 to $8,200 for my car. She said they just needed someone at the dealership to take a final look at my car. When I got to the dealership, the sales manager at the dealership told me the max they could offer me for my trade was $3,300 and that I should sell my car to Carvana. If I didn't do a trade with the dealership then I wasn't eligible for "internet price", which skyrocketed the price of the car I was planning to purchase. I advised the sales manager at the dealership that I agreed in principle on a trade in value of $7,900 to $8,200 with Monica. He told me he never heard of Monica and she probably works at the their a call center in Florida. The call center in Florida essentially lies to customers to get them in door. He said there was no Monica at the dealership and nothing he could do. I wasted 4 hours of driving and multiple hours at the dealership. I even asked a pretty straight forward question (how to get the regenerative braking to work) and even the manager couldn't tell me. Had appointment for test drive and still waited 45 minutes. Nobody went on test with us. Probably didn't matter because notoby seems to know what the car can do. Car was filthy and had writing on the windshield on driver's side so hard to see. This place is EVERYTHING you hate about car dealership and bad sales people. Avoid at all costs! Completely inept and slimy. I have had nothing but lies, ignored calls, bad repairs, rotating/fired staff, and spam about deals that don't actually exist. Most recently I used their Service Dept for a minor repair and it's been months of ignored calls, lack of scheduling, and ultimately what they admitted was a "bubble gum job" when my fender basically came off after their "repair". It took another 2 months to get that repair of their bad repair scheduled. They've also been sending me emails about buying my car for 25% "more than market" ... but it's all a lie. They lowballed the offer and just copy/paste the wholesale number from Carfax and never offer the 25% additional. When I challenged them about the lie they just ghosted me. This place is a joke. You don't need this kind of headache, there are plenty of other dealerships. For what it's worth, I bought my Kia from Liberty Kia in New Jersey, and they were amazing. Waiting for registration papers. Told them I was going to pick it up and they don't have it and is located at a different location. Never called me that they have it. I called numerous times to see if they had my registration papers and sticker. I paid for paper handling fee. If I knew I had to pick it up and called numerous times and wait 50 mins to pick them up, I would of not paid for the paper handling fee and went to the DMV myself and it would of been quicker. It's been pass 30 days. I would not recommend this place. Why say you have the registration papers and pick it up here when they don't have it in the same location and I said I will pick it up two days before. Northstar Kia On Monday, June 15, 2020 I went to Northstar Kia located at 46-05 Northern Blvd., Queens with the intention to buy a 2014 Mercedes sprinter 2500 that I had seen online the weekend before. My associate Jose and I met with Jerome, a sales representative at this location at approximately 10:30 AM. It took about three hours to locate the van, after going back and forth between 3 parking lots. I made it very clear that I wanted to drive away with the van today, there was no selling required as I already chose the one I wanted online. Once we finally found the van, it was located at their mechanic shop a half a mile down the road. It was made known to me that we could not test drive the van because it needed an inspection and mechanical work. We walked inside of the van, assessed what we were able to which was really the physical conditions of the vehicle. It was sufficient for what we required, which is a handicap van for my quadriplegic brother. After leaving the shop, we returned to the main location to discuss the details. The advertised price online was $18,995. After finally getting down to the paperwork Jerome told me that the price of the van is $24,995. I requested Jerome speak with a manager to honor the advertised price. This was upsetting, a clear bait and switch. While sitting there for approximately 40 minutes I observed how unprofessional the entire sales floor is. No one in the shop was following the COVID-19 laws in place for companies open during this time. They had sanitizer everywhere which was great but no one was wearing masks, everyone was shaking hands and there were no provisions in place to keep the employees or customers safe and healthy. Worst sales experience ever!!!! They make you fill out and sign an application, and speak with insurance, in order to give you a quote. Then they shred the application if you don't want the car. The sales rep was pissed when I wanted to see him actually shredding the paper. WASTE OF TIME and disrespectful! The quote wasn't clear (it didn't include taxes) and the manager implied that I don't know how to calculate interest through time. This is a review for their service center. I was rear ended in an accident and brought it in to be repaired. The damage wasn't a lot but since it was a plastic bumper, the entire area had to be changed (3 pieces). I dropped it off on Friday and it was suppose to be done by Monday. No communication when it wasn't done. I called every day to check but would be told the service advisor would call back and they never would. I was told it would be ready Thursday and I came in to see one piece still damaged. I came in again on Saturday, when I was told the still damaged piece would be replaced, to see that they damaged a different piece in the installation. The entire bumper had to be replaced again. When I picked it up, there were several dings and scuffs all at the same height on both sides of my car. I clean my car regularly and took pictures before dropping the car off at the service center, so I'm positive that so many repeated dings at the same height is not from me in a parking lot, but the dealer. If you care about your car, don't bring it here. read more

When I arrived I was informed I could not test drive the "one car" they had because they didn't want to add miles to their one car available. I finished purchasing Sorento EX-XLine after visiting 7 Kia dealerships and 5 other Brand Dealerships over a few weeks and kept coming back to the Sorento. Northstar Kia was a last-minute visit cause of their Internet Communications Team Ms. Tucker constantly followed up with calls and kept saying that the sales team can do a great deal for you and so I gave in and visited the location and she was right. I have already done my homework for the amount of months, APR, and downplay and my preferred monthly payment should be based of researching available APR for KIA for that year's model and searching for average dealer invoice cost plus MSRP cost and Taxes and DMV registration fees for that dealer to process, I did my best and came with a fair number to start at and presented that number to each dealer i visited and each one came back with very high number cause they didn't want to negotiate with their incentive allowance from the manufacturer, but with Northstart I said what i wanted for car and here's my proposal for months, APR, downpayment and monthly, what ever adjustment they needed to do to reach each target was on them, Mr. Alonso a manager just said No Problem ill make that happen and he did with no negotiating for a higher number, was a fair deal for them and me, Mr Alonso assign me sale rep Oscar and he started the paper work and 3 hours later i had my car, but experience at this location was so pleasant compare to previous 12 dealership i visited over the past weeks. I want to give thanks to Mr Alzonso and Shawn both managers and Oscar and Ms Tucker for your help and straightforward talk. The finance guy was a slight pause to the experience but it worked out, he tried to come at me at twice the APR but i assured him of the deal i had with Mr Alonso and he confirmed it and tried to come back me with a lower number and I still told him that's not the deal and again he confirms with Manager and finally we reach the number that was agreed upon, the finance guy needs to be more involved at the start of the negotiation to understand the final agreement with the sales manager. Folks set aside about 3 hours to complete your purchase, do your homework by asking for out-the-door numbers from multiple dealers, and find a sweat spot of number works for you and the dealer. Follow with your car insurance and see how much more that new car insurance goes up and ask your car insurance for their discount programs available, Save driving course, Drive App monitoring Discount, change your deductible premium from 500 to $1000, save that money. Again this deal work out for me in this case, I know its never be perfect for the next person, Im just speaking about how my deal went and i was satisfied and will return again if I need a new car. read more

Run from this dealer! I bought a Kia Sportage from this dealer on 5/27/2023. MSRP+$3600 markups which I agreed with. After you get into the finance department, everything changes, it comes up 10k extra after that. The finance person I met was rude, full of lies, and unprofessional. First of all, he told me Chase offered 10% interest rate and Kia bank offered 7.71% plus 10 years warranty(he never mentioned I need to pay for that warranty, I thought that's the factory warranty). I don't have any choice except Kia bank(I asked Chase after that, they said that rate is not possible, my credit score is 820). Second, when I noticed they charge $3000 for the extended warranty, I was trying to ask him to cancel it. He's pretending to rip up all the paperwork and ask me "You want a higher rate? I'll give you a 10% rate." Third, same thing, he charged a $2500 dealer fee without letting me know and it's not even shown on the contract. Next, I signed a lot of paperwork, but I received no copies except the financing contract. No MCO, no invoice. Nothing is clear. I canceled the extend warranty on 6/15/2023 with this dealer. Nothing is credit to my finance account until now. And now I need to deal with the provider. They don't care. read more

Have to say that from start to finish there were no issues, the usual back and forth on price and my trade in valuation but I got to almost exactly where I wanted to be. Dealt with Mike as salesman who was very pleasant and professional. There was no hard selling. I got a fair deal and would definitely return. Not the best experience with salesperson Adam. Financial Advisor Ron felt more helpful and responsive to my questions/concerns post sale regarding defects/physical flaws on my brand new Kia. Car drives and feels great. However, dealership needs to really improve on keeping their brand new cars in immaculate condition. Received a brand new vehicle in subpar external condition with minor surface scratches and weird residue spots they didn't even end up fixing for me. They claimed it was detailed to try and fix these external errors; however, external conditions were not improved by so called "detailing". After "attempting to fix these external flaws" and not succeeding they basically are telling me "oh wells, we tried sorry tough luck" They did not offer any other solutions such as replacing the flawed parts/repainting portions that the scratches are on. Also had to ask for a window sticker reprinted for 2 weeks since the original one was ripped up by the salesperson and thrown in the back seat.(Still have not received my window sticker by the way) Would I buy a Kia again? Yes. Would I buy from this dealership again?
