They showed up to work on the job when they said they would, painting my exterior with precision and care and stayed on the job until it was completed. This home is a three story Victorian with areas that are not easy to reach, and intricate trim that is unusual. They were professional, competent, and skilled at their craft. They were considerate by caulking joints that needed it, pointed out issues I could not see from the ground on my three story home, and completing the work to my expectations. The price was very reasonable and they did a walk around to confirm the work. They have a small town "responsible for their work" value system that left me feeling that they were trustworthy and honest. They were careful with my exterior plantings. The work they did has added to the value of my home but it was done with such ease that I wish I could have them do all of the maintenance work (plumbing, electrical etc) as it was so easy for me, and that is not my usual experience. I have contracted with them to do interior work, and would be ok with them in my home when I am at work based on the care they showed for my property. As a woman, I am thrilled to work with craftsmen who show respect for me and my instructions. Corey and his crew are so professional and respectful that I would recommend them to my elderly female relatives with confidence that they would be treated well. I confidently recommend them to anyone who has exterior or interior painting needs as of their competence, straight-forward approach, professional and courteous interactions, that are done in a timely manner with customer service as their motto. He does dry wall if needed for ceilings and walls then paints them to look wonderful. He created a very fresh look with his work which now shows off the beauty of my home. He is great working with women or older customers as he has a kind and cooperative manner. He showed up on time and worked until he finished the job. He was willing to do research on unusual requests and aims to please. The rates he charges are very competitive, and after he did the exterior I had many neighbors ask for his number. We were very skeptical and apprehensive about paying him upfront since we had not paid any of our other contractors up front for work that wasn't completed, but we were having a tough time finding a drywaller and made this fateful decision. Amazingly, he then came back and said he needed another $6500 for materials, which we never paid, and everything went off the rails from there. He did lead us to believe he would start bringing materials over the end of April and give us a definitive start date. Well, that's when all communication ended, and the scam was on. We contacted Your Home Improvement, and explained we were just in the 'getting estimates' part of the process and they sent out Steve Garren, who worked with our schedule and wasn't at all pushy. He was incredibly knowledgeable of their product (which was seemingly better quality than many of the windows we'd seen from others), and he worked with us to come up with a creative solution that worked within our budget. Excited to get them installed! If you're in the Minneapolis, MN area and need new windows, call and ask for Steve.

I would not recommend Your Home Improvement Company to anyone. For us it was a long, drawn out…read morepainful experience. It was a poor decision we have regretted deeply. They have questionable business practices, do not follow through with what they promise, and are badly overpriced. They advertise at Events for Seniors, hoping we might be more vulnerable to their sales tactics. They demand 90% down before they will even begin the project (50% down when you sign, 40% before they will come out to begin the project.) We were unaware of that. Most construction companies ask for 50% down and the remainder when the work is completed or in process. We could not reference the contract because they did not leave us with one. You have to sign on a little tablet, which didn't work well, with nothing to see in writing. We were promised a written copy of the contract the next day, but we did not receive one for over a month, despite numerous promises. We tried to cancel because we felt misled, but they refused us any refund, in spite of the fact they had not started any work in our home nor delivered any supplies. They would keep our money (50%) and all of their products (even though the contract states we should be refunded for unused products.) They are all about protecting themselves, not you. Did I mention their office communications were dismal. They could not even get our name corrected in their system. One thing I can say for them, their salesmen are good, too good. We have never fallen prey to a charming salesman before. But he spent time becoming our "friend" and gaining our trust. After three hours of their sales brainwashing we signed without sleeping on it overnight, which went against our lifetime practice. In the end, we decided we had to go through with it and reluctantly prepaid the full 90%. The only good news is the installer they sent was stellar. Zachary was excellent. (Bizarrely he came in a business van with a different company's name and phone number on it! ) He worked hard for three days and knew what he was doing. Zach was the one and only redeeming part in our bad experience with Your Home Improvement.
