Our adventure starts during Pine City's city-wide garage sale. We'd been looking at used tractors for over a year, but hadn't really found anything that we wanted or that fit our needs. We had honestly just decided to start looking at new and there was Stan's pretty tractors, all in a row. It was too late on a Saturday so after the garage sales closed, we came home and found Stan's Equipment Center online and started looking at tractors... and we started to get excited. The prices were fantastic! Using their contact form from the website, we shot off a few questions about the CT1021 and the CT1025 Bobcats and early the next week, Jason started answering all our questions. By the middle of the week, we were comfortable enough to plan to come on Saturday to see the CT1025 in person. Jason was great about answering all our questions via email, which is my preferred form of communication. On Saturday, one week after discovering Stan's Equipment Center, we drove back to Pine City and met Jason and checked out the CT1025 Bobcat. We found it perfect for our needs and the deal was struck. A simple straightforward sale with no games, no pressure, no stress, just some conversation that led to a great sale: a couple of country boys talking about tractors. Our Bobcat CT 1025 was delivered the following Tuesday and we've already used it to clear stumps and move sand (we live in the "Isanti Sand" area. *wry grin*) I highly recommend Stan's Equipment Center for all your land ownership and agriculture needs.

I would not recommend Dupont Decks based on my experience…read more I invested nearly $55,000 in a custom deck, including paying thousands of dollars extra for the structural requirements necessary to support a future four-season porch. That future porch wasn't just a verbal discussion--it was specifically included in my contract and was a major reason I chose this company. Unfortunately, the workmanship has been disappointing from the beginning. The deck boards are uneven and improperly installed, allowing water to pool and collect against the house. There are noticeable gaps in trim and wrapping, the stairs have settled and developed a dip that has caused the railing to bow, and even the stair lights have begun pulling out because of the movement. Whenever I raised concerns, I was repeatedly told everything looked fine or that I needed to wait over a year for the deck to "settle." When the problems continued, the responsibility shifted to me instead of the workmanship. The most disappointing discovery came later. I recently learned that the deck did not pass the county requirements for supporting the future four-season porch that was included in my contract. I now have to spend thousands of additional dollars correcting work that should have been completed properly from the start. What frustrates me most isn't that problems occurred--construction projects can have issues. It's the unwillingness to accept responsibility and the repeated attempts to explain away legitimate concerns rather than deliver the quality and contractual obligations I paid for. For such a significant investment, I expected quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a company that would stand behind its work. Instead, I was left with ongoing workmanship issues, additional unexpected expenses, and a deck that has fallen well short of what was promised. Do yourself a favor and look up "Trellis Law, Decorative Concepts, Paul Johnson." Not our story but…read morenot surprising at all. Paul was a subcontracter hired by our contractor unbeknownst to us. We assumed our contractor was the one pouring our patio, but he hired Paul to do that portion of the work. We hired our contractor to replace our chimney cap and to take out a patio and re-pour a larger one. Paul did our patio. He was rude and dismissive. He stated he's been doing this for 20+ years and to trust him--annoyed if we questioned anything. After the old patio was removed, a hole under our original patio into the basement of our house was found. Instead of taking his time to come up with a plan, he rigged up 2x4s and plywood and poured over that. NO foundation was laid--no sand, gravel, etc., to make an even foundation. He poured concrete right on the grass and uneven ground. First, he poured the wrong color concrete. Second, they damaged the back door to our garage. Third, not even one week later our concrete cracked all the way across and through the slab. When I told him, he said concrete cracks, and that was normal. These were not just a few spiderweb cracks, this was a complete fissure through the entire slab not even one week later. Paul eventually agreed to tear it out and do it right, but he and our original contractor never contacted me to schedule a time or returned messages. Over 1 year later and threat of lawsuit, he finally came to redo the patio. Since it had been that long, I reminded him of the size, color, pattern, etc., but he dismissed me, once again, and said he knew what he was doing and wasn't here to screw it up a second time; however, he did. He didn't order enough concrete and was 1-1/2 ft short on the patio. When I called him on it, he said it wasn't his fault because he had to fill the hole with concrete too and came up short. Arguing ensued, I told him he knew about this hole, he's the one who found it. I said we weren't asking for anything more than what was in our contract and that it was his company's reputation on the line, and he lost it and started yelling at me. I think he thought he was safe from a negative review because, at the time, he didn't have his company's name out to review (red flag). He came back a month later after another threat of Court and poured the rest of the patio, but I'm sure we'll have problems with it as concrete doesn't adhere well to concrete, and the patio looks terrible (see photos below).

I hired Jeff's to do landscaping when the fill around my foundation was washing away. The job was…read moreso poor that I had to hire a second company to redo it. Jeff's put sand in the eroded areas, which began washing away with the first rain. The fabric under the rocks was such poor quality that before long I had weeds growing right through it all over the project. They installed a water catcher with a popup drain. It never worked. I told Jeff I thought it was broken. He looked at it but said that's how they work. The second company told me the drain was broken. They fixed it. The job was horrible. Then to add insult to injury, they said to fix it would cost roughly six times what they had originally quoted. Was this a bait and switch? The company that did fix the landscaping and did a very nice job charged me less than one-third of what Jeff's second bid was. Finally, Jeff said he would refund my money if he could have the drain back. I said fine, just be sure to leave the new landscaping in the same condition it was before you removed the drain. That was a year ago. I have sent Jeff's many emails since. He doesn't even respond. As you can imagine, I never got my money back. The company that did a very nice job of repairing everything Jeff's didn't do told me that among landscapers, Jeff's has a very poor reputation. The only good thing I have to say about Jeff's Landscaping is that the men who did the work were very diligent, friendly, and hardworking. Jeff's has great people working for him but he doesn't send out the appropriate materials to get the job done, and he doesn't know what he's doing when he quotes, apparently.
