It's got a casual hippy vibe. There are a variety of seating options. We sat street side although the roof and inside were options. Call it spartan hipster. The service has been written about and takes a bad wrap. This is Mexico! Chill out. The guy was there in an instant. Drinks came out quickly. Food took a bit. Sorry Karen, they are not using the microwave like applebys back in America. BTW Mexico is in America. Enough of the geography lessons. The food was what was expected. Solid B. Service is as everyone says - slow, but I'm not coming here for that. I'm here for the food! Food - got the golden latte...it was ok...probably just not my taste, but others looking for healthier options other than a sugary drink might like it. The chilaquiles were on point! I added avocado and shredded chicken. The tortilla chips were fantastic. Thick and crunchy and definitely held up against the yummy roja sauce! A lovely cafe in a lovely, quieter part of Sayulita. Reminded me of being in the Temescal neighborhood of Oakland. The staff were great and the cafe is open for breakfast earlier than most other places in town, making it a perfect quiet breakfast spot where you can take your time. As we were wandering around town on the first day of our trip I came across the Northside Cafe on Yelp, it happened to be the closest restaurant to where we were at. We almost left because it looked like it was going to be a little too much like American breakfast and not enough Mexico haha. We were starving tho so we decided to stay. I was so happy we did, my whole family was happy we did. We all loved our meals! I had the breakfast tacos, 1 of each, bacon & eggs, chorizo, and ham & cheese along with an Americano that was pretty strong but yummy. My daughter ordered the pancake which was gigantic and at least 1 inch thick. My son had the monte cristo and my husband got the breakfast burrito. We all left with happy bellies. We also had an extra guest that sat while we ate, cute little Gigi, such a little sweetie waiting for a handout. My only recommendation is to ask to sit inside or try to get a table off of the street because our table was in the street and we had a couple people come up during our meal asking for a "donation". Other than that you're in for a treat if you stop here! If and when we go back to Sayulita I'd definitely love to go back for some more breakfast tacos. read more

Had breakfast at this place that is just north of downtown. It was busy and thought that was a good sign. Coffee and Oj was good ( nothing spectacular). We enjoyed our breakfast. Negatives - we sat in a building seperate from the restaurant. There was construction occuring with uncomfortable seats. Doesn't look like much when you first walk by but proved to have a very good menu, all menu items we tried were good which is a huge plus in a place like Sayulita (esp. if you are a group of Americans like us experiencing stomach discomfort from other places we tried before finding Northside). The host (or owner?) was very attentive also. Favorite items on the menu included the Chilaquiles, Huevos Rancheros and also the Vampire juice drink. Neat place! This is more of a "healthier" breakfast. We did not want this, but it was still good overall. They did advertise this therefore this is not their fault - it is ours. The hibiscus juice was good but needed to be a bit sweeter. We had the chicken enchiladas. It was cooked pretty well. I enjoyed the salad on top of the dish. I enjoyed the red sauce more than the green one - we were recommended by the waiter to do half and half. The green sauce was great...but the red one was that much better. If you're looking for a "healthier" or "lighter" breakfast then this is perfect for you. Everything was fresh and tasty. The latte was really tasty as well. They also have local ground coffee to buy. We took advantage of this option. They also accepted credit card without a fee - maybe because our total was high after the ground coffees - but that was a nice perk as well. read more

Yummy! We got the gourmet omelette, breakfast tacos with veggies and the Mexican eggs -- all were delicious and fresh and healthy! My Mexican eggs came with a side of beans and bread. My sister got a latte with coconut milk which was tasty. Service was fast. This place is popular and fills up just FYI. The man serving us, Josue, screwed up our order, didn't pay attention when I asked for anything, continued to ignore us multiple times as i tried to pay the bill, and when i got the bill he has included a 20% Tip in the Total price!! They open at 8 am despite what signs say. I had a verde smoothie which I loved I dinged a star because they made a papaya smoothie incorrectly and I found that very odd as we told two people verde. We speak Spanish And no other customers were there. Plus, the next time I was there I waited 20 minutes for my verde smoothie and they handed it to a lady that just ordered! I would avoid this place for a few weeks. The construction next door makes it feel like you're having your teeth drilled. The service is awful - we never got our meal after waiting an hour - and so we paid for our drinks and left. Okay coffee, no longer serving the frozen bottom latte. Food was subpar and gave both my partner and I food poisoning. Would not recommend.
