I definitely have had my share of good experiences with NorthShore Health System at the Glenbrook location. I have a wonderful. thorough physician, they were very efficient with mammography and bone density screening, and I have an outstanding off-site physical therapist. I'm disappointed with the patient follow-up protocols in the neurosurgery department. My hard-to-get appointment had been booked for months. It was abruptly cancelled this morning. They claimed they tried to reach me. I had no messages either through the portal or my home telephone line. Maybe try a little harder? I also was stunned at how unapologetic the receptionist was. Look, I realize it's a long holiday weekend, but our time matters, too. You came up short here. Do better. read more

The office staff and employees here are extremely rude and incompetent. This was not an issue for me several years ago but when I went to the office last month there has been nothing but issues. When I saw my allergy doctor, I waited for 15 minutes after checking in and was wondering what was going on. They pretty much lied to me and told me all the rooms are full when I saw like 5 empty ones when they walked me to a room because they definitely just forgot and didn't care about me. The allergist doctor who saw me is great so I feel bad that she is working with incompetent office employees like this. After I saw my allergist, she told the office employee to make sure we do a video meeting because it was both convenient for both of us. I checked today to check in for the meeting and it turns out the office employee still put an in-person meeting and not a video meeting despite the own doctor instructing her right in front of me. And then today when I called to confirm about my meeting to make sure it was a video meeting, I told them about my issues and how it seems like the employees here don't care about me. The receptionist who answered my call thought I hung up when I thought I was supposed to wait on the line. She didn't hang up and she ended up mocking me and my problems and she then realized I was still on the line when I said something. She was then nervous and kept telling me to hang on because she was not competent enough to realize she and I were still on the line. The office employees here are an absolute disgrace who have poor training and Northshore does not care for their patients and their feedback even though they ask them for surveys. It's extremely sad to treat patients like this. I think the doctors here are fine but the incompetent office employees are a massive roadblock to get through that I don't think it is worth going through. read more

I have dealt with Northshore University Health System for many years for myself, husband, and both of my parents. Northshore is much too massive to have any type of organizational methods or effective scheduling of appointments. Northshore is an absolute nightmare to deal with. Yesterday I was on hold for over 75 mins, and they still were not able to successfully schedule the appointment. Yes, you read the hold time correctly. Today I was on hold for 20 minutes; and they were still not able to successfully schedule the appointment. Apparently only 1 person is currently able to schedule appointments for this particular department. What? Do yourself a favor. Save yourself an immense amount of frustration and aggravation. Find a different medical practice for all of your doctor appointments. Northshore is the worst. read more

Since my primary care physician became affiliated with Northshore earlier this year, I have been very pleased with the overall quality of service and the excellent selection of qualified physicians and specialists affiliated with the group. The hospitals and offices in the group are conveniently located for me, and their computerized system makes appointment scheduling, bill paying, and access to test results very simple and convenient. It's great that my medical records are accessible by the various specialists affiliated with this group, it saves a lot of time and is very efficient. I get an email when my test results are available and the results are explained clearly and easily understood. I'm very happy that my doctor joined the group, and have total confidence in the specialists and services provided by the group. read more

We were in town visiting for the holidays and our three year old came down with an ear infection. I was looking for walk in clinics in the area and was happy to find one that has walk in hours from 3:30-4:30pm and also could see children! It also happened to be in Glenbrook Hospital which is within a mile from where we were staying. The experience was wonderful, the front desk and nurse were friendly as was Dr. Michael who patiently saw her, diagnosed the ear infection, and managed to keep her calm enough to put in ear drops for instant relief. Our daughter was quite cranky and the stickers they had of princesses were the perfect to distract her. I was shocked that from check-in to the end of the visit we were out of the office in less than an hour. If only our regular doctor office visits had us in and out so quickly! read more

I went for annual preventative check-up with Dr. Lulla located on 1435 Waukegan Rd. Lo and behold, 10 days later I receive a notice from Blue Cross Blue Shield that I owe $11. What?! I am not supposed to pay anything for preventative visits! Well, the practice, very sneakily, introduced a questionnaire in my regular patient paperwork that asked me questions regarding depression, anxiety, and suicide. This is an extra charge called a Behavioral/Emotional Assessment on top of your regular visit that allows the practice to make more money. If you look up the CPT code 96127, which is the medical claim code used to bill insurance companies, you'll find articles about practices using this code to build even more revenue. Despicable! Call to Action: 1) Never accept an Emotional Assessment unless you have been told exactly what it is ahead of time, that is not fully covered by insurance, and the doctor actually gives a crap about your emotional health. 2) If you were already billed by the practice, call their Billing department and demand they take it off your charges. read more

I had an awful time with this facility. My experience began with a visit with Irena Chizhik, MD. She refused to consider conventional treatment for my concern, which was entirely unrelated to digestion or weight, and suggested I come back after eating no grains or starches for a week, saying she would consider conventional treatment after that. I quote, "You look like you eat a lot of bread" and "You eat a lot of sweets, right? And fruit?" She did not suggest I lose weight, only made these strange comments reminiscent of the locker room in middle school. Again, my concern was about as unrelated to digestion or weight as a health concern could be. She ordered a large range of tests, which were done in the same facility. I do not know who called me to talk about my test results. She called and held the phone away from her face and talked about another patient with her nurse. I didn't hear any identifying information, but I did hear the name of a medication that was not relevant to me. I hung up after listening to the conversation for thirty seconds or so. Soon after, she called back and initiated a conversation I can only describe as scolding. She demanded that I follow up with a relevant specialist ASAP because "some hormones" were severely "out of balance." I did follow up as soon as possible, but the results were not posted in time for me to share them with the relevant professional. I needed to email the doctor to ask for them, and they were online about three days after this alarming phone call. Out of dozens of tests that were ordered, none of the numbers seemed even almost out of the standard range. The doctor never replied to my email asking for elaboration. My experience was stressful and did not give me any information about my health, only learning that one doctor is on the gluten free bandwagon and another was having a particularly bad day. I'll be avoiding this facility from now on. read more

Good doctors, but in the years I have been going, I have yet to not get incorrect bills for services that should be covered by insurance. Regularly they charge additional fees for phlebotomy (am i supposed to extract my own blood for lab work? How do I get the correct vials to put it in?), errors with co-pay, etc. They could save a lot of money on customer service and a lot of stress for customers by not sending so many incorrect bills. read more
