I have been in many art classes at the school such as, Ceramics, Drawing and Painting, also AP Art. I also have participated in Drama Club and happened to be the club president in my senior year. I am someone who was into music as well. However, in terms of choir classes...I've noticed during my time at the school, many students in the choir are pretty pretentious I felt. Which in turn, caused me not to join. With how the school is structure-wise, I'm not really mad at it. It's more so the actual students I've come across and how the faculty deal with issues particularly regarding mental health. I wasn't really a "popular" kid, but wasn't that much of an outcast either. I was somewhere in between. When it came to the people I was hanging out with on a daily basis, we were doing things that normally people do in high school. Chill, hang out, and joke around. If I'm being honest, in high school, I was someone who had mental issues especially with suicidal ideations. Due to issues I had outside of high school at the time. Thankfully I'm not there mentally anymore. However, I didn't really have much support outside of my friends at the time. It felt hard to talk to somebody, but one day I brought it up to my counselor... Well after I did, it made things a lot worse. Essentially it separated me from my family, and I felt alienated from the students when I told them the issues I had at the time. A particular friend I had who I considered to be my best friend, I confided in her and I was basically shamed for it. The next day, she never spoke to me again after that. I had another friend, who actually was trying to get to the bottom root of the issue and I dismissed her which I still feel bad for. There was another person who I thought was a friend, but actually secretly did not like me. She was someone known to start drama. After these events happened, I was alienated from my main circle and others. Felt embarrassed during graduation day and overall I have mainly known people who are really deep down fake. Well, it's expected from a place like California. I was happy to leave considering I didn't have to see or talk to most of the people I knew there ever again. However, it feels bittersweet because while I don't want anything to do with this school or the memories associated...it feels tough to know that looking back I didn't have a good experience. Doesn't mean the school itself is horrible, it's the social life that came with it and how I was treated that did not feel good.

This disorder impacts my social communication and interaction. I'm still surprised that none of the "trained" officials didn't acknowledge my disability, except the counselor, who just dismissed me. In this review, I'll be reviewing my 5th and 6th grade teachers. The 5th grade teachers were one of the worst teachers I met. Always sassy all the time, and loud. That combined with my disorder made it one of the worst. But that's nothing compared to the 6th grade teachers. I had Ms. Felix as my 6th grade teacher. She acts like that one parent, she always gives to me (as in she gives food for my diet), but she never actually cared for me. I'm sure she only gives her snacks because if she didn't, she'd she responsible for my starvation, not because of the lie she tells me, like "I only gave you these because I love you." Come on, you don't actually mean that. She also tried to force me into depression, saying things like "You are not a Bitely Bear." or embarrassing me in front of the class. Her words and actions still impact me to this day, and I will never forget them. Also, she gives me too much to work on, where I thought of suicide many times, but she says she doesnt want me to die. The counselor was the worst counselor in the world. She knows that I have autism, but she didn't actually try to make me calm. She's part of the reason I thought of suicide multiple times. Her actions are like mopping the floor when the bathtub is overflowing. She doesn't try to support me, she just sends me to a mental hospital to try to "fix" me. As you might have expected, that didn't work. It never worked. My experience at this school heavily impacted my emotional, sociological, and psychological health. I've been less comfortable to talk to counselors after, and I've isolated myself from even more people. I wish I stayed at home, or a school that really understood my disorder. For Parents: Don't send your kids to this school if you don't want your kids to be impacted emotionally and psychologically. Their mascot is an oxymoron, the bear is happy, while the students are not. When I grow up, I will never send my kids here ever.

As an educator myself, you bet I vetted all the local daycares in the area and asked all the hard questions about curriculum, schedules, policies, safety, assessments, etc. MPCS welcomed any and all questions I had at the open house and throughout the school year. Their communication was open and transparent. I appreciated all the time the teachers and staff took to work with me when I had a question or gave a suggestion. They listened intently and did so with such care, grace and humility. My child looked forward to going to school daily and enjoyed all the activities the teachers planned in the classroom. As parents, we loved attending the school field trips, holiday programs and weekly chapel times. We appreciate the community MPCS has built for the families. It warms my heart to know that the friendships my kiddo made in class has transferred over to the TK environment, where there are 2 other MPCS graduates in the same class! MPCS is a true gem! They offer a warm, nurturing environment where every child feels loved and valued. The staff is dedicated and invested in the well-being and growth of each child, fostering both emotional, intellectual and spiritual development. It's a place where both parents and kids can feel confident and cared for every day.

my son just completed his final year at monterey park christian school and is now transitioning…read moreinto public school. while we're grateful for the relief of not paying tuition anymore, leaving MPCS is truly bittersweet...it feels like we're saying goodbye to a second home. my son was deeply loved and nurtured. he absolutely thrived at MPCS at such a formative time of his life. he still tells me how sad he is to leave, and i'm not surprised to hear that; the staff and teachers loved him like he was their own, and i never once felt judged as a mom, even during his challenging moments. they always supported us with such grace, especially during the potty training days (my gosh, i don't think i could have gotten through that season without their partnership; potty training my stubborn son was hard! lol). he would come home every day singing songs, telling stories about the new things he learned, how he enjoyed playing with his friends. he often didn't want to leave school during pick up because he just loved being there. one day, he even told me he loved the school director, mrs. desireé, because "she's so beautiful~ i like her." my heart just melted lol. i'm going to miss this school deeply. it's been a place of joy, safety, growth, and the love of God. MPCS will always, always hold a special place in our hearts. if you're considering preschools/daycares, i wholeheartedly recommend monterey park christian school. in all the choices i've made for my son's life as his mom, this is one where i have absolutely zero regrets.

We had a choice to make whether we wanted to continue on, meaning a much longer commute and many more hours each day away from our little ones so they could attend the other campus in Monterey park. We made the right decision to stay with Meher. The school went above an beyond to wrap around its impacted families during this crisis. When we were displaced we were even invited into a zoom class room so the kids could stay connected to their classmates. They did not fall behind, and had a loving environment to return to when we came home. We trust their approach to normal misbehavior and conflict between kids, and the kids trust that when they are there their needs are met. The structure is comforting for them and the lessons engaging. We love that the school has a loving and professional approach to child development. We feel there is a real investment in our kids learning how to do things on their own, which we have noticed contributes to their confidence and eagerness to discover and learn. The teaching staff is well versed and continuously learning how to be great teachers. It is not "childcare" it is truly school in a way that sets the kids up for confidence and success. We feel lucky to be part of this community and after looking at other options, are clear this is the right place for our little ones.

I use to help him with the outside platform for our Friday assemblies. I remember he even took a group of us to a basketball game and he paid for everything. Back then they gave the boys swats for misbehaving. He had a huge wooden paddle hanging on the wall behind his desk. It was almost like a trophy. When he died it was a sad time for the school. They even had a small plaque placed at southeast end of the park. It was a vey nice ceremony with students and city officials. That's when they officially changed the school's name to Jack Macy Elementary. They later shortened the name for some reason to Macy Elementary. I recently took my family to the school, so they could see where I attended school. To my surprise the old gate kickball backstop was still there in the field. What really supposed me was the fact that the plaque honoring the Mr Macy had been destroyed and grass was covering where it was. It was obvious the school had not taken any action to replace it, as if the principal was lost in time. I hope the current principal sees this post and looks into it and replaces it. The history of the school should stay alive and not lost with time.

Lilly also make sure the kids are respectful and proper etiquette for different things. Thank you for taking such wonderful care to my daughter. She learned so much. We already miss you!
