Last year I bought a dress, size small at STATIC MODA in Northgate Centre . I find it tight this year; a real shame because I really like the dress. I was back in the mall yesterday when I saw Static Moda's window sign announcing a sale. Lucky day, they had a few of that same dress on the rack. I asked the lady (manager) if she could check for a size medium for me. as I could not reach the rack. She told me she found a medium and she brought it to the counter as I was still looking around. Finding nothing else for me, I went to pay. The lady had the dress neatly folded and she put it in a bag. This morning I removed it from the bag but it looked so big. I tried it on and it fell off my shoulders. I checked the size and it is an XL, extra large! I returned to the store with receipt to get the right size, medium. I though it was just a mistake on the lady's part. A man was behind the counter today, covering while the lady was out at the moment. I told him the problem, asked him to check the rack and get me a medium for exchange. He said there are none. oh. Huh? What the ...? I know they will NEVer give a refund but I told him I want a refund as I felt that I'd been tricked. He said to wait until the lady returned; said he couldn't do it, even though he claimed to be the store owner. Upon her return to the store I told her then too. She said she gave me a medium yesterday. I was almost stunned and told her to look at the size herself. It's an XL.Then the man asked where the tag was, then showed us white deodorant marks on an armpit. He said I had removed the tag and worn the dress and called me dishonest! Then, she started in on me. At that point I called her a liar. The lies about putting a USED dress on the rack for sale, and telling me she'd found a medium for me when in fact she had NOT. I opened my coat so show my 109 lb. 5'2" body and asked them if they think I could even wear an XL without it falling off me yesterdayould wear that dress, size XL without it falling off. Things went from bad to the worst retail experience I've ever had! He pushed the dress back at me and told me to leave the store or he'd get Security. Yes, do that I said. I want a witness to this B S. Then he said he would not ask Security to come. Well, that says something too, doesn't it? This store operates horribly. The manager and the owner should not be allowed to sell retail, as they have no principles, no ethics and no honest business practices. They should be ashamed, but with their modus operandus I expect they never know shame. Static Moda should be banned from this mall and all others too. read more

This mall seems to be slowly improving. I was here for an event and the food court was busy in the morning and at lunch there were just a few tables open. There were mostly seniors enjoying coffee or lunch with their friends. The health clinics seemed to be pretty busy too. There's a Spa Lady but I haven't been inside. I have been to the Alberta Works office which is convenient on the second floor. There's Walmart and Safeway, and Marshalls which wasn't there last time I was here. Too bad I didn't have a chance to check it out. I wouldn't go out of my way to shop here but if I'm here for work purposes, I know I can get a drink or some selection of food too. The washrooms could be updated and cleaned better but still ok. read more

I wholeheartedly agree with the previous reviews for Northgate -- you definitely don't come here to shop, you come here to get your teeth done or your eyes checked. Or else you're just really, really bored. They seriously need to revamp this place (again) though, it has nothing going for it in terms of shopping. Hence why I never come here. Even with one of the city's major bus terminals outside its doors, this "mall" doesn't see many people passing through. It will probably get a bit more business once the new T&T is done. How ingenious of Edmonton developers to have a Northgate and Southgate Centres LOL. I don't know if they're designed the same but this one is designed horribly. Of course being an urban planner myself, I am duly qualified to make this assessment. First of all who split the centre into two separate sections across the street from each other. In the middle of it is the Transit Centre on the north end. I know I cannot really comment much on the traffic engineering and design of the place but will leave my professional opinion as such. This is your typical suburban autooriented mall that will get you not even walk from store to store but instead drive. Who am I to judge whether or not the mall should set down and redesigned but it is one horrible looking shopping mall read more

This is probably one of the crappiest malls in the city. It has been revamped slightly to appear more attractive, but this is not the type of mall I go to when I want to go shopping. It's the mall I go to, when I need to get something from one particular store. The food court is rather disappointing. There's a McDonald's, an Edo, and an Orange Julius, but that's about it. The upper floor of this small is mostly dedicated to medical laboratories and offices, so it's pretty boring. The lower level has a few good stores like Coles, The Source, and Everything For A Dollar Store, but not much else worth mentioning, except for the big stores like Zellers, Safeway, and Future Shop. Northgate Centre might be a good place to get your hair cut though. There's at least four hair salons here; not to mention, there's a Spa Lady, Vo's Nails, and Dangerous Curves. There's also several places to get a new cell phone, like Rogers, Telus, and Bell. I'm giving Northgate Centre three stars, because it's a good service mall, but not a very good shopping mall, if that makes sense. read more

If you were checking out the exterior of Northgate without knowing anything about it you might just assume it was a typical average community mall. It's got Future Shop,Walmart,Safeway,and a huge new Ardene's advertised on the outside. Alas once you get into the mall the disappointment is likely to set in. First off there is NOTHING good for clothes shopping in this mall. Of course you have the Walmart but if you have read the reviews of the Northgate Walmart then you know it's terribly organized and poorly stocked. Other then that I can only think of two small business type shops that seem to specialize in club wear. (think rhinestones and spandex) Secondly the foodcourt in this mall is atrocious. You have Edo,Orange Julius,Mcdonalds,and Taco Time. If your looking for healthier options you are out of luck. This mall seems to cater to mostly the senior crowd so im guessing as long as they are being provided with coffee and light fare then the mall has no interest in trying to attract more restaurants. My personal recommendation would just be to check out the Smitty's downstairs. If it weren't for all the medical offices upstairs I have no idea how this mall would survive. There are so many empty storefronts in this mall that I have seen lay vacant for over a year. It's a great place for getting all your medical needs looked after under one roof but that's it. Even as a community mall it fails. All I can really think of recommending this place for outside of seeing a doctor is the Safeway. This was one of the worst malls I have ever been too. It is not a place where you would go shopping nor should you even have it in your vocabulary. You will find dentists here and optometrists. It doesn't really have any worthy stores. It looks nice on the outside but that's just trickery. I really disliked this mall. read more

I agree with Jeanette, this mall is barely a mall and has totally gone downhill over the years. It seems administrators of ailing malls seem to remedy the situation by filling it with medical related offices. Northgate is only slightly more mall than Meadowlark. The food court is totally a joke. It's one of very few I've seen on the second level of a mall and there's barely anything there. Good thing I ate before going. I only entered this mall because I was in the area and hadn't been for years aside from maybe checking out the Best Buy or is it Future Shop. Like I say, less than memorable. I can't help but agree with the reviewers here. I rarely venture up to north Edmonton, and I know why. For some reason I expected this mall to offer a lot more, but it just doesn't. I don't say this often, but this place makes Millwoods Town Centre look good. Don't bother coming here if you're looking to shop. Just don't. I think a Kingsway Mall-like renovation is in need for this mall. It's like a 40 year old woman that needs a makeover. read more

I wouldn't call it a shopping mall. But this place is a great one stop shop for the simple necessities in life. Groceries, Walmart, electronics, doctors dentists, gas and restaurants. Also the bus stop is real close. Like others have said, it's more meant for the locals close by who need just a few things. And for that it's great. Parking is great compared to the mall north across the street. I've never had any problems finding a place to park. read more

I just want to say that although the food court doesn't have many options the layout is quite nice. Lofted ceilings with a lot of natural light. It makes sense that there were a lot of retired elderly people who meet and hang out for hours getting free coffee refills at mcdics. Also I'm sure it has something to do with all the leased medical offices. read more

The CHAT-R Kiosk (booth) at North gate Center (Edmonton) is actively buying and selling used phones, replacement parts, along with his Father at the flea market and the kiosk at the North Gate Center. Perhaps your people should consider that the Image of a Canadian Corporation which is supposed to respect all CONSUMER PROTECTION LAWS in ALBERTA are neither good for your INVESTORS nor the Shopping centers? This maybe outside the knowledge of the Landlords approval and the Franchisors approval. I also had a very bad experience with a CHAT-R store in Mill Woods Town Centre A technician ( bearded guy) working for SAM at the Mill woods Town Center CHAT-R store (Edmonton) has been "REPAIRING" and damaging other peoples I-phone with BLUNT INSTRUMENTS while replacing a SIM CARD. Maybe CHAT-R is having difficulty attracting proper franchisee(s) to represent them, but these candidates must be from the bottom of any list. I know that CHAT-R is way cheaper because they use 3-G Network (outdated & slow Technology) while all other carriers have upgraded tp 4-G Network, faster and more features, so they can't price match CHAT-R. I have already filed my report with the proper Detective at EPD and the Investigators at the Attorney General office (Solicitor General for Alberta) As the high end parts of expensive (I-Phones) are interchangeable to resell the parts into other phones, conceal the "PART NUMBERS" to clone phones, or to sell parts of stolen phones, which makes them more difficult to Investigate, without material Evidence. I have an Oath which I must respect to the Province of Alberta and the Laws of our Province, as I am Commissioner licensed by ALBERTA JUSTICE. This mall is just sad. The only reasons I ever go here are 1) Safeway 2) Futureshop and 3) the Northgate Public Helth Centre. Everything else is pretty abysmal. The food court has zip for options and most of the stores feel either extremely dated or, dare I say, ghetto. I give it two stars because it's always clean and well cared for and there are the three things of use there. It definitely needs an update. read more

Be extremely careful at entrances as they do not sand walkways I was there on fri morning up stairs entrance by food court and landed on my back. I had to go into dyna care and tell them to get a hold of the mall to get them to sand before someone else ends up in the hospital. read more

If you are expecting a shopping mall then go any other mall except here. You have stores, but this mall is mostly dentists and doctors. You have wal-mart which sucks. It's sadly lacking in stock and supplies. Zellers was better when it was there. Futureshop which doesn't have much either. Basic computer, camera, movie needs. Oh yeah and I guess CDs and now even some toys and appliances now. Safeway which is good if you need to get shopping done. Ardene for young girls Coles for books. Place to get nails done and hair, plus couple nic nac stores to kill time. Food court- Edos, mcdonalds, and a Chinese place are your only options for food. Then there's dynalife to get blood taken, x-Ray and ultrasound clinics. Doctors office, dentist office. Working workshops to help you look for work and print resumes. There's also a sleep clinic there. Good mall if you don't want to travel everywhere for your medical issues unless necessary, just don't expect a lot if you are looking to shop. read more

Was in town visiting family & friends. Took a trip to Northgate Centre as it was close by. It would be my first and last trip there. I came around 7pm and there was probably less than 12 shoppers. Not much shops and the food court only had about 5 places to eat. If that wasn't bad enough I experienced the worst customer services ever. From the shops to the food court. Places to avoid are WIND, Rogers, Telus, Ardene, Edo, Mcdonalds. The worst of the worst. No one could crack a smile or say hello. Everyone gave me attitude like I killed their pet or something. Was going to check out Walmart but, after the horrible experience I couldn't take another moment at this mall. Very disappointing. I would not recommend anyone to shop here. read more

This mall is more for people who live close by to get necessities or anything else. Definitely not a place to visit if you're not near here. A lot of businesses here always end up closing. There is literally no value in going inside the mall. It's just so close to North Common and Kingsway and it wouldn't be worth the effort to do any restoration effort. read more
