We dined with a small party in a private room, warm and comfy, and boasting elegant, polished service from a sharp and friendly team of servers. Excellent. For Easter, we were given a prix fixe menu ($150 per) that provided some fine choices among appetizers, entrees and desserts. The appetizers included octopus, quail and some super tasty (and NOT overcooked) seared tuna. Delicious. The entrees included duck and chicken but all of us deferred to the tenderloin which was perfectly cooked to our preference, tender and ... well, just what we wanted. Add in the desserts and the drinks -- lots of specialty beverages. all on the pricey side -- and we were totally satisfied. Not a complaint in the group. Winvian is very private, You can't just stroll in. Reservations are necessary, and you'll need to get buzzed in. Once there, however, the well-trained staff provide first-class treatment, thoughtful and never obtrusive. It is a grand experience -- but it is expensive. Definitely for special occasions.

The dinner menu was atypical, featuring an eclectic fusion of dishes executed with lots of creative flair. Flavor, quality and freshness of ingredients were top notch. Our starter, Garlic Maple Whiskey Chicken Bites, came accompanied with grilled shishito peppers. Perfect for sharing and so lovely paired with a glass of prosecco. Next, we sampled Bouillabaisse and Miso Roasted Black Cod in dashi broth. Seafood for both mains were super fresh. The Bouillabaisse broth was remarkably flavorful, the hint of saffron ever present but not overwhelming. How nice to have the red pepper rouille and slices of bread (customary in France) served alongside for the authentic experience. Miso Roasted Black Cod was tasty, succulent and fork tender. Beautifully arranged with mushrooms and Brussels sprouts surrounding the fish, plus a delectable piece of polenta cake tucked underneath. Dashi broth was poured onto dish tableside, creating a warm umami rich dish that was not only delicious but also extremely satisfying. On to desserts....The Chocolate Tarte with sea salt, nuts and berry coulis, a picture of understated elegance, was incredibly sublime. The Warm Apple Tartlet à la Mode with vanilla ice cream was good too. Would have preferred a tad less cinnamon though. All things considered, this was an exemplary meal. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. Hope to return again soon.

This is what we came across while driving through the little town of Morris, Connecticut. Penny Farthing Tea Room & Bakery is an adorable little British themed tea house. The best part? The three ladies running their business are all Brits! Alison, Clare and Deb are so welcoming and they come complete with their authentic British dialects. The inside is very small, homey and comfortable. There's so much British decor and delicate fine china everywhere. Their menu is broad with an assortment of tea of course, scones, sandwiches, soups and salads. I got the Rose Lemonade tea, with a scone. It came with a side of jam and cream. The presentation is stunning. Everything arrived on beautiful fine china, even the little dish for the honey. My friend also got their Chicken Salad Sandwich. I am so impressed, the scone was so fresh and tasty on its own, but adding that jam takes it to a new level. The tea was flavorful and rich. My friend also enjoyed her sandwich, I tried a bit, it was scrumptiously good. We had a lovely time at Penny Farthing Tea Room & Bakery, it is truly an experience to spend some time here.

It was not my jam but could work for some. They offer real maple syrup from the White family for a $1.00 charge. I do not know if my MAPLE _________ latte had it or not, but it was too legit to quit. Not too sweet either. Clear maple taste. Whole milk requested. Served in a mug with quality java. RATING = A. The interior is country quaint basic and not going overboard but rather erring simple and open without crowding with stuff. The location is great at the bottom of the slope in downtown. APPLE FRITTER with MAPLE GLAZE: -- I would have preferred a plain cake donut or old-fashioned cake with maple glaze, but this was good -- semi-firm -- medium-sized -- moderate amount of maple glaze has authentic color and taste -- not a sugar bomb -- dark color to bread -- not soft inside, medium-soft inside -- up to medium sweet -- not oily or greasy, tastes more on "slightly" healthy style RATING = A- SFOGLIATELLE pastry: -- this clam shell looking pastry is filled with sweet ricotta cheese -- moderate amount of cheese -- lightly sweet -- tasty -- bread is semi-firm -- I am more of a Zeppole fan, but this is good RATING = A They have bags of Ethiopian coffee which is funny because everywhere we go we see Ethiopian coffee for sale lately.
