I went in June and it was only offered Seattle to Chi, of course my dumb ass booked Chi- Seattle, consequently, I was served micro wave dinners. Yeah for me! You can easily count how many cars are going by. This is oil country and there are hundreds of tankers lined up at the yard. It's an old building but the room is nice and has a nice TV and the bathroom is new. Also they don't charge for pets, which saves me money. That said there are a lot of places to eat within walking distance - as is most of Shelby.

I could touch the popcorn ceiling in my bare feet without standing on tip-toes to do it and I'm just 5'10". There's a phone in the room that looks like one I remember from a 1970's episode of Baretta. The bathroom is in the closet. Or is it vice-versa? Anyway, the woman at the check-in desk was quite nice and showed us quite a large array of DVD's we could watch for free and just leave them in the room. Definitely different. Decent location near Amtrak, especially considering this is a town with no taxi service, so you have to schlep your luggage everywhere once you get off the train unless you know Bob.

The owners/managers were a really nice couple who were attentive to our needs. We took their advice and had supper down at the Dixie inn. If you reserve online ask for room 12 or 16. That will get you above the houses and you can see the Sunset over the mountains. In short :Good price, clean rooms, restaurants close by, WiFi YEP! I would be happy to stay here again.

In addition, the lights to the bathroom and sink area immediately adjacent to the sleeping area were on a single switch, so if you need to use the light for the bathroom late at night, you are sure to awaken anyone sleeping in the bed. Add to all this you are 2 blocks to the railroad line, so you get serenaded with trains much of the day and night. I don't know if you can do any better in this town, but it is worth a look.

My only complaint is the curtain does not rest against the window enough to block all day light. I am pretty sensitive to smells. The room had no oder to note which is great. The only reason I left off a star was for the window. Hotel rooms are for sleeping and the light coming through does not aid in the sleeping process. (For me at least. ). I would return. The carpets are stained, the hotel entry is cluttered and grungy, our room smelled weird, and there was pee on the toilet seat in our room...before we ever used the toilet. That means they didn't clean our room's toilet and if they didn't clean the toilet, what else did they neglect? Fortunately, I carry clorox wipes when I travel and I personally wiped down all the surfaces in our room. Oh, and I also found a glue trap under the bed against the wall. I have NEVER stayed in a hotel that had glue traps in the room! Why do they need glue traps?? Mice or bugs, but either way it's unsettling. I understand that all hotels must use pest control, but using glue traps in the room is tacky and disgusting. We felt so gross staying here and absolutely hated it. Unfortunately, it's the nicest hotel in Cut Bank. That's not saying much. Also, the walls are very thin. You can hear everything going on in the hallway and adjacent rooms. I was up until 3 am because of an adjoining room's occupant going in and out of their room all night and allowing the door to slam. We only stayed here because it was close to Glacier National Park. The only thing that got me through this stay was knowing I had a very nice room in Kalispell for the next leg of our trip.
