Mr. Bullis turned that store into a gold mine. The customer service and help was beyond excellent. He knew where everything was at, just like his assistant Jerry. I would go into the store with a problem I needed a solution to and either Mr. Bullis or Jerry would give their undivided attention to find a solution. Sadly Mr. Bullis passed away several years ago but Jerry was still there and the service remained the same. Then Jerry left, not sure what happened, they said he retired, but it wasn't the same and their business slacked off. About 8 months later I went to Bullis hardware and Jerry was back, he came out of retirement, their business boomed again. About 6 months after that, I went to Bullis and Jerry was gone again. I asked where he was and didn't really get a response. Now the store is manned by Mr. Bullis's grandsons and his daughter and son in law. When the daughter or son in law is in the store the service is fantastic. When the grandsons and their wives are there which is most of the time, the service is terrible, they act like they are doing you a favor by waiting on you. If you ask for help it really isn't great. I know they don't have the experience that Mr. Bullis or Jerry had and in time that may come but time is running out. They are resting on their laurels and the reputation Mr. Bullis made with the store. But the reputation is being degraded by their current people working the store. Their business is down, they don't appear to be as busy as they used to be. They need to realize they have serious competition. There is an ACE hardware on the east side, a new ACE hardware on Reidville Road, Johnsons ACE Hardware in Wellford, I've been to all these stores and their service is like what Bullis used to be. I hate to see Bullis going in the direction they are going, I like that store but it IS NOT THE SAME.

I somewhat prefer them over their largest competitor; Lowe's! Both retailers sport two large sized locations each! I'm positive that the competition between these two is dog eat dog! I'm really encouraging my oldest grandson to get familiar with lawnmowers! I have a rather large yard and attached side yard.In a few more years I may not feel like doing all of this grass activity! When he is between twelve and thirteen years old; I'll pay him decently! He'll be glad to put the fifty bucks or so that I intend to pay him in his pocket! A commercial grass cuter would probably charge me 2 or 3 hundred dollars! He'll be glad to get the easy money and I'll be happy to save my cash for a rainy day; of course!

Recently got a washer and dryer. The reason that I had to replace the latter was due to the first…read moreduo who installed the washer and re-installed the old dryer, did something to where the dryer no longer worked. Definitely had to be that when they moved the old dryer the heat element must've shorted out. Since the dryer was working perfectly fine prior to their mishandling of it. Being level header I understand that these sort of things can happen when moving items. Should've known more mistakes would be made when intial washer they brought had dings on it.   However they offered to bring a replacement at a later date for the mishap. Or just keep it with a deduction. Chose the former because wasnt sure what internal damage might've took place. Later talking to an associate confirming new delivery of another washer without the blemish, I again informed them what happened. They suggested that I tell the guys who will deliver the newer model that next day. When I informed this new set of deliverers, they indicated to me to please contact Lee Capps, the store manager, who'd make it right to work something out. I attempted to contact him the next day but was not able to discuss with him by phone/face to face the matter at hand.     I gave my contact information to an associate in appliances when I was there and she mentioned he'd give me a call later that evening if not the next day. When that did not happen, I tried to call again and was he was on vacation. Then I sent emails to both him and assistant manager Bryan Lancaster but still to no avail.  No resolution took place. All in all a frustrating process for was doing this for my grandmother who is soon to be 100. Just wanted to get this all squared away and right for her but they weren't willing. Wasnt sure what the deal was for been members and paid full price so left a bitter taste. Customer service and leadership their is a disgrace.

Worst shopping experience ever. Paid for 10 bags of mulch. when I went out to pick it up the…read moreloading zone was closed and no one to help load. So I went to the pallets on the back side and loaded it myself and hurt my back. On the way to leave the parking lot was cut off by 2 Lowes employees who accused me of stealing it until I showed them my receipt. Considering a lawsuit for my back because no help was available and then to be accused of stealing is a deal breaker. Next time I will pay more at the local hardware store because they are always there to help. Done with Lowes!!!!

I also do not like buying my important vegetable plants at big box stores due to quality issues. So their web site is pretty decent. It is easy to use and easy to check out. I found the selection of tomato plants (actual plants not seeds) to be pretty good. Even better than my local place. So they got seeds and lots of vegetable plants to select from. I was a little dubious on how tomato plants would make it through UPS shipping. Well the box was well packed. Each plant (total of 5) was carefully individually wrapped. Plastic on the base to keep the soil in. Each plant was protected by individual cardboard packing. The soil was damp and not dried out. All five of my plants arrived in great shape and super healthy. Very happy with the web site, quality of the product, and the prices (even with shipping). Highly recommend.
