Mr. Bullis turned that store into a gold mine. The customer service and help was beyond excellent. He knew where everything was at, just like his assistant Jerry. I would go into the store with a problem I needed a solution to and either Mr. Bullis or Jerry would give their undivided attention to find a solution. Sadly Mr. Bullis passed away several years ago but Jerry was still there and the service remained the same. Then Jerry left, not sure what happened, they said he retired, but it wasn't the same and their business slacked off. About 8 months later I went to Bullis hardware and Jerry was back, he came out of retirement, their business boomed again. About 6 months after that, I went to Bullis and Jerry was gone again. I asked where he was and didn't really get a response. Now the store is manned by Mr. Bullis's grandsons and his daughter and son in law. When the daughter or son in law is in the store the service is fantastic. When the grandsons and their wives are there which is most of the time, the service is terrible, they act like they are doing you a favor by waiting on you. If you ask for help it really isn't great. I know they don't have the experience that Mr. Bullis or Jerry had and in time that may come but time is running out. They are resting on their laurels and the reputation Mr. Bullis made with the store. But the reputation is being degraded by their current people working the store. Their business is down, they don't appear to be as busy as they used to be. They need to realize they have serious competition. There is an ACE hardware on the east side, a new ACE hardware on Reidville Road, Johnsons ACE Hardware in Wellford, I've been to all these stores and their service is like what Bullis used to be. I hate to see Bullis going in the direction they are going, I like that store but it IS NOT THE SAME.

This place is an interesting place to watch the people who have trouble interacting with others, do…read moretheir thing. It's always a hilarious / cringe worthy experience waiting in line at the register. The poor girls they have working the check out. Watching the customers get offended or try to respond in some unorthodox way to the basic questions like "Do you receive our catalog?", always gets a laugh or face palm out of my friends and myself. It really shows you that there is a serious problem in our area with social ineptitude. The people that work there aren't at fault. It appears they are only following corporate orders when they ask for your phone number and about special offers. It's not that big of a deal that the slobbering masses around here make it out to be. The employees are friendly and helpful. I've never had a problem out of any of the people that work there. The tools are cheap Chinese garbage. This isn't a problem though if it's a tool that you aren't going to use regular but still need. Sometimes their cheap Chinese garbage isn't the cheapest option so it's always important to shop around when you see something you need from this place. It's not that bad of a place and most of the time the prices are reasonable enough that if you got something and broke it, you could just toss it and without breaking your wallet. Some of the stuff there isn't that bad of quality and might last depending on how you use it. It's more of a store that sells disposable tools and equipment. Don't expect any lifetime tools you'll pass on to the grand kids from here unless you expect to die tomorrow.

When we moved the shaving packaged bugs large ones came running out, their shaving were also wet too.
