Chicken chicken and more chicken. We were in the mood for some chicken tenders... so we ordered the 4 piece chicken tenders and sweet potato waffle fries. The tenders a good size and ok by itself but if you dip it in the sauce it'such better. We chose the jerk and buffalo sauces and you can't go wrong with either. The sweet waffle fries are good and it would have been better it was on the crispy side. It was an good order to ride you over with your chicken craving.

Several ways to view the menu with all ordering done via kiosk. The chicken sammies are all the same price, so, go wild. I regret not getting the buffalo. One bite of the hubs bacon ranch made it clear this wasn't the time to play it safe. The Soul was on the bland side, while the bacon rach was tasty. The cucumber salad was nice & tangy - tomato onion and cucumber in vinegar sauce. $5 is probably too much for it - but, you're at the airport so $20pp for a sandwich and side isn't too crazy (plus 4.5% hospitality charge) The food came up quickly- maybe too quickly as the chicken definitely could be hotter. It was lukewarm.Overall, a decent addition to the airport.

The Chicken biscuit is overcooked and dry. No juice at all. The biscuit fell apart with the hot honey so I had to eat it with a knife and fork. The Egg Samich was not very good either. Dry and just a tiny bit of dry egg. You have to order at a kiosk (hate that) so I wasn't able to add cheese to my chicken biscuit.

I heard this spot was Black-owned and had to give it a try. Northern Soul is conveniently located in the Minneapolis airport and easy to find. It's a small, cozy space with a few tables and high-tops for seating. If you need more room, you can always take your food to go and eat in one of the airport's larger seating areas. Ordering is pretty straightforward--they have screens where you place and pay for your order. After that, you find a seat, and they'll call you when your food is ready. I ordered a chicken sandwich, waffle fries, and mac and cheese (my favorite food). The chicken sandwich was surprisingly good--tender, juicy, and a lot of flavor. The waffle fries were your waffle fries, no complaints there. The mac and cheese, though, was really solid. For a fast-casual spot, it was creamy, cheesy, and just really hit the spot. Not mad at it at all! Overall, Northern Soul delivered a tasty chicken sandwich and satisfying mac and cheese at a pretty reasonable price point. If I ever find myself in this airport again, I'd definitely stop by and continue to support.

Good not great. If you're in a rush at MSP and need a quick fix, this is a decent option. Staff are pretty friendly and chicken is decent.

Tennessee Hot and tots

I am a huge fan of Top Chef so was excited to eat at another one of Justin Sutherland's establishments. Being in MSP with some time to board, I ordered the Nashville Hot sandwich (minus pickles) with a side of tots. Not many seats, and was able to grab one as a couple were leaving. It did take about 10 minutes for the food which I did not mind because that meant it was freshly made. Normally I take my food to go to eat on the plane, but I am glad I ate this right then and there. The chicken was nice and hot (temperature) and perfectly fried. It is a lot of chicken though, I could not finish it! I do wish it was spicier though. It is also very messy, which is why I was glad I ate it right then and there as I went through plenty of napkins. The tots were also tasty and if I had a side of ranch it would've been perfect! Prices are also really reasonable and hope to try the breakfast sammiches next time.

Being a SkyMiles member usually I'm at the airport enjoying the SkyClub for a free meal, but there's one place I would drop without hesitation and it's Northern Soul. From order to pickup was a little over 10 minutes but it was well worth the wait. We ordered the classic Soul, Buffalo, and Tennessee Hot with a side of tots. The warm brioche buns, the oh so crispy chicken, and the variation of toppings were a heavenly experience. Plus the tots were nice and crispy with some tasty seasoning. I asked for some BBQ sauce to dip the tots and was given their house sauce with a sweet and tangy tasty. The total for everything was $58, which is about par for an airport meal, but even sharing the Tennessee Hot with the missed and eating half my kiddos tots it left me nice and full and satisfied. Certainly won't be my last time!!!

Spicy chicken sandwich

I got the spicy chicken sandwich and it was really well seasoned, juicy, and delicious. It wasn't too spicy. The condiments and the veggies worked really well together with the chicken. I will come back next time I'm at the airport.

I just came back into the states after being away for a couple weeks and this is exactly what I was craving. Nice big messy sandwich. I don't know if it's because I was starving or just wanted some American food but I'm pretty sure it was just a really good airport sandwich. I wish they had wipes they could offer because it can get messy. So if you're ever at this airport and craving a fried chicken sandwich. This should do the trick. Go check them out.

14 spice tenders was a bit underwhelming- did not taste like 14 - more like 3 and was bland but chicken was good

This was well rated in the airport, I was close by so I stopped in to check out their chicken. Overall it was an "ok" experience. I do think this place is close to getting to all-star / great if a few tweaks were applied. So the ordering process is via a large kiosk screen. A guy came out of the kitchen to help me and I appreciated his insight. He told me the most popular items. I ended up getting the tenders - the spicy rub and some other glazed one. I skipped the sides. I also got the Caribbean Chicken Sandwich for the guy who worked nearby and recommended this place. And per the pics - it looked really good. So the tenders were really good quality and large too. The breading was very good and crispy. Great scores on that. But the seasonings and dip sauces were lacking and could use some improvement. Believe it or not the 14 spice rub wasn't that spicy, and it was quite bland, I was picturing more robustness in it. I think there's less salt applied - which is great because many places put too much salt in their seasonings and it's not good. I think if we just improve the seasoning to make it a little more robust - and I mean it lives up to the name of 14-spice rub - then we gots a home run. The other tender order had spicy sauce on it but they didn't put enough sauce on it so I wasn't pleased about that - but it did taste better. I was really disappointed in the sauces. The ranch and jerk tastes like it comes out of a plastic jug. I was envisioning better taste, better quality, but I did not get that at all with their sauces. A big letdown here. Just an FYI - - the best ranch I've experienced (believe it or not) so far has been Chili's. Yup. That surprised me. So overall it was okay, just tweak the spicing, the execution, and improve the sauce quality / taste - - and we got a home run here. Or you can just bring your own ranch and have a go at it.

So this restaurant is the brain child of Justin Sutherland from top chef, and this is actually my favorite food spot of his so far. This is a chicken spot, so the menu is limited, but it's still a great meal on the go at the airport. It's quick and easy ordering, you can order at the counter with an associate or at the kiosk on your own. The chicken is absolutely delicious and well seasoned and juicy and yes I would choose this over Chick-fil-A! I like that this place is a nice medium between fast food options and sit down dining. You can easily take your meal to go or linger around if you have a long wait for your flight, but the seats aren't comfortable at the restaurant, so I don't recommend that :)

American airports aren't really known for good, affordable, and filling Airport food. After Northern Soul, I've changed my mind. This place is so good I forgot this was the airport. Located between Gates D and E, Northern Soul serves casual chicken sandwiches at a price that I find comparable to small business restaurants. What's crazy is that the prices are comparable to ones you'd find of a quality chicken sandwich outside the airport nowadays in the US. Not only that it was probably one of my favorites that I've had, and I've been all over. So I ordered the Nashville Sandwich (Not to be confused with the hot chicken one that's hyped up) and sweet potato fries, both are definitely was up there with being so good. Now it was buttery, juicy, and had some extremely tender thigh meat as it's best part. The slaw was perfectly good, and the only people that may not like it are people that don't like it too buttery or they only use to-gp packaging whether you sit down or takeout but that doesn't bother me at all. 4.5/5 Sweet potato fries were hot, extra crispy, and would get again. 4.5/5 Service: you order on a tablet and pickup the order when your number is called, so most of it was automatic, although there is an option to order manually with a cashier. Can't really rate this but I think they overestimate the time it takes to get your food (mine came out in less than 5 minutes when the receipt said 15). Really fast service. The ambience is standard upscale fast food, I think the only thing that makes it more casual is like I said, the paper containers of the food. Overall, excellent spot in MSP. Would recommend before your next flight.

Tennessee Hot "Sammache" & Mac & Cheese

Location: Terminal 1. Take a left after leaving Security, walk past Chili's and the Food Court. It's on the right (across from Hudson News). Order at a kiosk and they call your name when ready. Table and Bar height tables provide seating for about 36 people. Side: Mac & Cheese ($5.50). Delicate hints of spicy heat mixed with creamy cheese and spiral noodles. Recommended! Sandwich: Tennessee Hot "Sammiche" ($13.50). Large, perfectly fried chicken breast, that is juicy bursting and a decent amount of spice. You'll need to open wide to take a bite! Shredded lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes provide different food textures and complement the spices. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Service: Order at a kiosk, wait for your name to called. Took about 12 minutes. Ambiance: Small seating area, and it is clean. Overall: It's rare to find unique food, at the airport, that is affordable and delicious. Northern Soul is a perfect substitute for fast food and chain restaurants. This place will be my "go to" whenever I want to eat at MSP airport. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

What do you do when you can't decide where to go for dinner?…read more You go to @malcolmyardsmarket in Minneapolis (nestled close to Roseville just off of University and 280) This is such a different experience where you have so many options to order from with major ease. I've always thought this is the perfect place to go when you... -can't figure out what you want to eat -when you're meeting up with friends or coworkers -going on a first date -want adult food but also have a kiddo along. The Market has a beer wall, a full bar and multiple food vendors to order from. Over time new vendors take residence of the spots though there are some that have been around a long time. It's fun to get favorites and try new things. I'd suggest you go with the mindset to try different things and share with who you're with to find your favorites. I came on a Friday for lunch, and it was pretty quiet--likely due to recent protests on the streets. It also seemed like not all of the vendors were open at the time. After doing a quick walk-through of the available options, I decided to order Xí Quách (24-hour braised beef bone soup) from a Vietnamese vendor called House of Hue, and wow--it was so good! The dish came with gigantic beef bones loaded with meat and a broth. The beef was incredibly tender and literally fell off the bone, and the broth was warm, savory, and comforting. I finished everything! It was a lot of meat, so no more meat for me for the rest of the day lol Afterward, I stopped by the vendor next door, Niko Niko Boba, and got a large iced crème brûlée Vietnamese coffee with boba, which was also excellent. The coffee was very rich, just the way I like it, and the boba were made perfectly--chewy and at the right temperature (not too warm). Overall, I had a great lunchtime experience at Eat Street Crossing. Thank you for not closing during the recent chaos for those of us who want to support local businesses. Side notes: there's a restroom in the basement, and it was clean--just like the rest of the food court. This spot is also within walking distance of several bus stops, which made it easy for me to get there.
