Found the woman working here to be a bit stuck up and rude. Have bought some lovely items in the shop before, some chimes, a beautiful gong. Was walking toward the entrance planning on making a purchase today and noticed my Mom had called to wish me a happy birthday. Not to be one of "those" people I walked over to sit on the retaining wall of the adjacent parking lot to make my call. The wind coming off the water was pretty strong and I determined my 78 yo Mom was not going to hear me through all the wind noise, so I moved back toward the shop. I stood half on the sidewalk and half on the shops patio so their building could block most of the wind. I was not in the shop and was in no way blocking any foot traffic into the shop. I am not a "loud" cell phone talker. Not 3 sentences into my conversation a woman (assume the owner) walks over to me and interrupts me to say in a not particularly pleasant tone, "Excuse me sir. You are in a cell phone free area". I look at her in confusion and she indicates a small sign on the opposite side of the entrance at least twelve feet away. I literally move my body six inches, moving my one foot off their patio surface, and stood on the sidewalk. She turns and walks away without another word. (No "I'm sorry to interrupt" or "would you mind horribly") I quickly finish my convo with my Mom and walk over to the entrance to note that there had not been a single customer in the shop while I was on the phone. I wasn't being loud and I have been inside shops where the conversation between shoppers is loud enough for me to completely lose my train of thought and no one thinks to interrupt them. I can understand having a cell phone policy in the store but come on... Is this her idea of excellent "customer" service. Actually I suppose that is a misnomer, since I will no longer be a customer. (All I can hear now is "Happy Birthday but NO soup for you!") read more
