RUN FOR THE HILLS. (One star is generous.) I'm a good-review…read morekind of guy, and it genuinely pains me to write this. But after nearly 8 months of dealing with this company, I feel obligated to warn others. Everything seemed great at first--professional, responsive, helpful--right up until they picked up the first check and cashed it. After that, just like so many of the negative reviews here, the red flags started to show. Communication fell off a cliff. Promises were made and broken. Every concern was met with, "Call the office, I'm on vacation." I've only dealt with Joe (not Dan), and I understand one or two bad apples shouldn't define an entire company. But there has to be accountability somewhere--especially when I believe the owner is Joe's brother? As someone who works full-time in real estate--as an investor, property manager, and property owner--I've worked with dozens of contractors over the years. This has unfortunately been one of the worst experiences I've ever had. The lack of preparation, miscommunication, and mishandling of unexpected issues has been mind-blowing. The roof was torn off without identifying or addressing significant problems (like rotted soffits) that any competent roofing team should have caught during the initial inspection. On top of that, they had to come back multiple times just to get more interior roof photos--because they failed to account for yet another thing they should have caught upfront. This only dragged the project out further, since they had to submit an insurance claim adjustment. And while we were promised that this wouldn't affect our insurance rates--sure enough, it did. Not a huge deal in itself, but it's yet another example of how they'll say anything to land the job, then fail to deliver. Now we're left mid-project, scrambling with no roof, rain in the forecast all week, and zero clear direction from Joe. His latest response? "I can't help you, call the office." Hope their insurance is up to date--though based on how everything else has gone, I wouldn't count on it. I want to be able to update this review someday with a positive resolution. I want to say they made it right. But at this point, I have zero faith left. If you're considering hiring this company--please, do your homework. Read the negative reviews carefully. I wish I had. --Victor Trejo

Luis is the owner, and he came off pleasant enough when I contacted him for a countertop install for my home. He came out to measure and quoted me 7,200.00 for the job. I signed a contract on a Monday and I gave him 3,600.00 down. I went to several granite suppliers in Elk Grove Village with my wife, and we spent the day in order to pick out the two slabs we wanted for our kitchen counters. I talked with the supplier and they said they could deliver the stone the next day to Luis's shop in Woodstock for fabrication, as we were under duress to get the job done as soon as possible. I texted Louis and he said he would arrange to have someone there to unload the stone...Thought we were good to go... A week had passed and I heard nothing, so I called Luis and he then informed me that he had made a mistake on the price. It would now be 9200.00 to do the job! He also informed me that he did not take delivery of the stone last week because of the price issue. I asked why he didn't call me right away? He blamed his wife for not sending me an email with the price change. That is when I should have jumped ship!, but we had lost a week already, so unfortunately I gave him the benefit of the doubt and agreed to the price increase, as he then promised he could install it by the end of that week. He then called that Thursday and asked if Monday would be ok, I reluctantly agreed. Sunday night rolled around and I had heard nothing as to what time he would be there the next day. I texted him to ask, his reply was 9 to11... really?, his shop is 20 min from me and he couldn't give me a firm time? He arrived at 9am. I could now post a long list of issues with the install, but I will give you just a few of the lowlights. He had to cut a 10 foot long slot out of the drywall wall down to the studs in order to slide the mismeasured countertops into the wall to get them to fit. Drywall dust and chunks were deposited in my drawer runners and the cabinetry below. He made no attempt to clean up his mess. The end result of the install was barely acceptable. The man is truly a hack and a real jerk to work with. If you are looking for a stressful experience from start to finish and a half assed job for your big dollar purchase,,, Luis is your man! If not, STEER CLEAR of Millennium Stone of Il. in Woodstock.
