If I could give North End Wrench 10 stars, I would! John and David were outstanding in dealing with my issues on a small Volkswagen Rialta RV/ Motorhome. I was having issues with the motorhome in Ohio and I am from out of state. It was very very difficult to find someone that would agree to look at it and help me with my problems. North end wrench told me to bring it on in they would look at it and diagnose the issues to get me on the road to drive back to Maryland. They fixed and alternator/Charging problem, changed the fluids. Tuned it up, the brakes were fixed as well, They were very honest and do great work very friendly and personable. I've been taking my VW Vanagon to this shop for the past four years or so. Folks say it's tough to find a good, honest mechanic, well, I agree. When you find one, stick with them. One time, my van was smoking from the dash (the brake unit is under it) & I took it to Northend. Dave, the owner, wasn't able to see anything wrong. He didn't want to incorrectly diagnosis it & charge me for something I didn't need. He guessed, correctly, that it may have had some water in there & the smoke I saw was steam & would improve in a few days. He didn't charge me for this. Honest, good mechanics. Never ever again!! Mark and Dave were getting business on my German car for almost a year now. We need to point out, that they recently replaced two of my front tires with no issues back in April. Driver front stem to hold air pressure broke off. Front tire had to be replaced including stem. Wouldn't you think, that they would check the remaining 3 stems with air pressure? Got the car, tire warning signal still on. 7 hours later the same day I got the car back. Rear driver stem and sensor for air pressure breaks off. Rear tire goes flat including newly replaced and worked on front tire. Had to get car towed...front tire rim leak and excuse from Dave he wanted to cut corners!! Are you serious??? Rear tires were replaced, front tire was worked on a 2nd time around. Picked the car up on my way way to carmax, tire warning signal still on. Carmax did their repair portion and supplied my tires with air. After Carmax back to Mark and Dave. Comes to find out they replaced my rear tires but did not tighten the stems and air pressure sensors enough. Ripped off in every way possible to get more money out of me, a hassle to bring the car 3 to 4 times back. Shitty service I have never encountered before. My Trust and Loyalty are gone. Not a penny anymore for this Crap and BS I had to go through!! read more

Pro - Had vehicle serviced several times by Northend Wrench and was very satisfied with each service - They provided me with a free loaner car while my car was being serviced - Prices were much more reasonable than the dealership - Everyone I spoke with was courteous and knowledge Con - This is not a place you would wait for your car for a lengthy service - there is not a large reception area. Northend wrench is the best! We took our SUV in they could've tried to fix it however they said they could and it would cost a lot of money and it wouldn't be worth it. We decided to have it taken to the junk yard my husband forgot to get our garage door opener and some cd s when he cleaned it out and and the mechanics saw them at the junk yard got them and called us! While they might not have fixed that car I appreciated their honesty and have taken our other cars there. Oh they also specialize in foreign cars. read more

I can't say enough good things about Northend Wrench. We've been taking our vehicles there for almost 20 years, and have told many friends to use them too. They have always fixed it right the first time, at a fair price. But check this out: There have been times when, instead of doing work and charging me, they'll suggest an alternative that means no revenue for them, but in the end, saves me money. Case in point was my latest appointment: Took my SUV in, on 4/16/2012, for a whining sound the engine was making. They felt it was likely a timing chain issue, but get this: they pulled up a service bulletin from the manufacturer, and encouraged me to go to a dealer and see if the work would be covered under warranty. I decided to take my car to Northend Wrench after another mechanic (Dublin Road Auto Car) failed to diagnose and fix my car's issues after they had it for two weeks. Northend literally called me 2 hours after I dropped it off with the cause of the issue and the price to fix it. I picked it up the next day and runs like new. Last time my car was fixed here, they screwed up the cruise control and horn. I took it back to get this fixed, as well as a leaking sunroof and broken handle that reclines the passenger seat. They wanted to charge $700 for parts and labor to fix the assembly, so instead, we had them seal the sunroof shut. They charged $200 for this and said it will PROBABLY work. Then, they looked at the passenger side where the handle was missing, noticed a penny jammed in there, retrieved it, laughed when giving it back, didn't replace the handle. Cost? 20 dollars. To top it off, my rear passenger window wouldn't roll up when I went home and finally, it dropped into the door. North End Wrench said they had nothing to do with that, but they'd gladly have the car back to repair it, at a cost of course. This place sucks. Take your money elsewhere. read more
