Extremely Unprofessional, Disrespectful, and Concerning Treatment of Patients…read more
After years of visiting this facility, I have reached a point where I can no longer justify returning. The treatment I have repeatedly experienced from the office staff has become increasingly unacceptable, and my concerns regarding professionalism, patient dignity, and accessibility have not been adequately addressed.
I have a service dog, and the staff have repeatedly behaved inappropriately toward her. They have shouted at her, spoken directly to her, touched her without permission, and repeatedly interfered with her while she is working. This behavior raises serious concerns regarding ADA compliance and the staff's understanding of how to appropriately interact with service animals. Patients should not have to repeatedly defend their accessibility needs in a medical environment.
The overall atmosphere is overwhelming, unnecessarily loud, and stressful. As someone who requires consideration for accessibility and sensory needs, I find the staff's conduct particularly concerning. A medical facility should strive to create an environment where patients feel respected, accommodated, and safe--not one where routine appointments become unnecessarily distressing experiences.
I have also experienced repeated instances of being misnamed, discussed by staff in my presence, and treated disrespectfully. When I raised concerns about this behavior, it did not restore my confidence in the facility. Patients deserve basic courtesy, respect, and dignity, especially when they take the time to communicate legitimate concerns about their treatment.
There are also ongoing administrative issues. My paperwork has been lost on multiple occasions, and emails frequently go unanswered or take an unreasonable amount of time to receive a response. These failures create unnecessary frustration and raise concerns about the facility's organization, communication, and handling of important patient documentation.
Unfortunately, my concerns extend beyond the front office. I have also experienced interactions with physicians in which attempts to clarify information, explain my perspective, or respectfully challenge something I believe to be incorrect have been met with rudeness and dismissive behavior. Patients should be able to ask questions, seek clarification, and participate in conversations about their own care without feeling belittled or disregarded.
What concerns me most is that these issues appear to be recurring problems rather than isolated incidents. After years of attending this facility, I have watched my experiences deteriorate instead of improve. No patient should have to repeatedly advocate for basic respect, appropriate treatment of their service animal, or professional communication.
I intend to pursue formal complaints regarding my experiences, including bringing my accessibility concerns to the appropriate authorities and contacting the Texas Medical Board regarding concerns about the care and professionalism I have encountered.
I sincerely hope this facility takes these concerns seriously, reviews its staff training and practices, and makes meaningful improvements so that other patients do not have to experience similar treatment.
I will not be returning.
My experience has left me deeply disappointed and concerned about this facility's professionalism, accessibility awareness, patient communication, and accountability.
