We received the receipt and installation details at closing, including this company's information. Since moving in, we've experienced ongoing issues with the hot water supply. I am currently 8 months pregnant and unable to take a full hot shower, and my children often end up needing to take cold baths afterward. When I reached out to the company for help, they refused to come out to assess the situation unless I agreed in advance to a $300 service fee. The company is upfront blaming that the hot water heater is simply "undersized for our household needs" instead of checking on it. I've previously owned a home with a similarly sized water tank and never ran out of hot water at all, but regardless, I believe a company should stand by its work--especially when the installation is recent and the unit is still under warranty. At minimum, a basic service check should be offered without demanding a substantial fee upfront or placing the responsibility on the homeowner. The individual I spoke with on two separate occasions was dismissive and unprofessional, and did not take accountability for the situation. The interactions left me feeling uncomfortable and even intimidated to write a review, but I feel it's important to share my experience so others can make an informed decision and find a company that stands behind its work and treats customers with respect.

I saw this in other reviews but scoffed. Boy was my negativity off the mark. Amazing. Why amazing? A year ago I called every local plumber for another small project. First, each said that as a new customer, I was a low priority and they would schedule me 2 or 3 weeks out. Give me a break. I hired a plumber from Glens Falls area who was here in a few days. I gladly paid travel costs because of the prompt service. In the end I thought the total bill might be high but I'm really not up to date on plumbing charges. It turns out a lot of pipes froze that night, because no one had any techs available. The best I could get from mist was a promise to have someone call me in the morning. Josh from Holmes, though, called me back immediately. He helped me stop the water that was flowing out of the burst valve, made sure I had some emergency heat, then scheduled me for first thing in the morning after he finished with his next client. He fixed the problem and even made some improvements to make my system a bit more resilient going forward. He was there all day, so I was expecting an astronomical bill since I had called in an emergency basis. I was pleasantly surprised to see the price was very reasonable. I had actually made that exact repair myself 5 years earlier (Josh said it was a quality issue with the valve and not my handiwork that lead to this failure, and I choose to believe him), so I know the going rate for the valves he used, and I know what the labor was like to install it. They charged a fair markup for the parts and a competitive hourly rate for the labor. And of course, Josh did the work a heck of a lot faster than I did back in 2021. I'm very pleased with the service and the quality of work. I'll definitely be calling Holmes the next time I need any HVAC work done.
