The Good: Room was clean and the maid service was good . Front staff were friendly. The location is good right in the center of town The Bad: Room AC makes way to much noise and the furniture Ned's to be updated. The resort had a group in on a bus tour and started their day early ( around 6:00am) our room was near the dining room very very noisy and both wife and I could not go back to sleep so our day started way earlier then planned read more

Lovely Lodge in Killington VT. Our bus tour stayed here for 3 nights and everyone we encountered was helpful and friendly. Our bags were taken up to the rooms for us. We had a nice breakfast buffet every morning, nothing fancy, but it was perfect. Hot and cold cereal, juices, fresh fruit, yogurt, different breads, and hot breakfast sandwiches already prepared. Our room was cleaned nicely and restocked. The lodge appears older but clean and very well kept up. The rooms feel a bit dated, but again they are clean.... with a modern TV, a fridge and plugs for charging read more

If your looking for a great stay for cheap, this place takes the cake. Obviously Killing is crazy busy during the Winter, so this review may not be for you, I was here in the summer and loved it. The rooms are huge. They have a jacuzzi, a walk-in waterfall shower, queen size bed, and a fully stocked kitchen & living room. I paid under $90 a night for this room and I know that the next time I visit this area, this is where I want to stay! read more

Had an event here last weekend for 50 + ski club members. Staff were easy to work with, booking a block of rooms, and going above and beyond. They allowed us to have a welcome party in the common area. We used there kitchen and dining area for our buffet dinner. Big John who runs the bar and dining area was amazingly helpful in planning and executing. Totally recommend this hotel for any event or just a weekend stay. read more

I have to say we planned a weekend to see the fall foliage An go to the October festival . Friday night we came in about 1 AM when we woke up the room was dirty unsanitary run down . The beds very old stains on the sheets on the comforter on the carpet in the bathroom unsanitary stains on the ceiling. After taking a shower we did not feel clean do not want to put our feet on the floor. The rooms were not cleaned at all feels like someone cleaned the room months before we stayed . I am a RCI member an this is a hotel that is listed under my membership this is my first stay. After buying my timeshare 2yrs ago . I was told they are cleaning an fixing up the hotel. They put a new TV in the room . Will never stay here again . The hotel run down every aspect weight room a joke game room for kids very old and run down the ice machine on our floor broken needed to go to the top floor three levels for ice. The staff is friendly . But clue less on the surroundings for food when asked about breakfast told they do not serve there you can go to the hotel next-door or up the street to a great breakfast spot. When we went up the street the restaurant has been closed on the new management and has been being worked on for about a month .I didnt want to go next store looks just as rundown and was afraid to go eat there. (There is a great bakery right up the street great spot to eat at . That we found on our own) The price doesn't match anything worth a value for the hotel . Be careful if you choose to stay or just stay away read more

The hotel is dated, and our room had a somewhat funky smell. Glad it was just me and the kids, on a little VTStaycation since the overpowering smell of air freshener on top of cigarette smoke/mildew would have set off my husband's asthma big time. The heated pool was warm and a treat to swim outdoors, in middle of winter. Downside was the slime on the sides of the pool, and it's crumbling sidewalls....and the obnoxious guy "Dan" who has "been coming up here for 43 years" smoking a cigar in the pool (at 6pm, surrounded by other people and kids). I mortified my 13 yr old (and irritated him) when I asked him to put it out...but seriously! Respect others airspace and health, and smoke in a designated area, not in the middle of the pool. My biggest complaint was that there was ZERO enforcement of the state's Covid safety guidelines. Nearly every car was from out of state (I doubt that they fulfilled the REQUIREMENT for out of state folks to quarantine 14 days before visiting (or 7 days and a evaluative Covid test), and everywhere throughout the hotel, in the lobby and the hallways etc, there were large groups of drunk people laughing and shouting and chatting without masks. I was uncomfortable being outside of my room within the hotel because of their lax enforcement. Another reason I was VERY thankful my husband did not come with us, as his underlying Heath conditions would make catching covid a serious problem. Kids and I have been doing temp checks, and I just hope we didn't bring the virus home with us....we spent a very limited time out of the "sanctuary" of our smelly room. I thought it would be nice to do something fun, that didn't require us to travel very far, and get out of our house for a night. Did this one other time at the Comfort Inn in St J, and it was a much different (better) story. I assumed most other businesses in VT would at least enforce the mask mandate (can't force people to be honest when signing the form stating that they have quarantine/tested before coming to visit),but not this place. Won't be back. read more

This place is really shady. We had a terrible experience. It's too bad because there is some good here and some decent people. It was mid-morning and a sketchy looking guy came to our door for the "broken chair". I told him no-one called about a broken chair, probably wrong room and he leaves. Shortly after my kids who are still their beds tell me a guy keyed into the room and was walking around the place peering in bedrooms. When I went to the front desk for an explanation as to why a random guy came into the room after I clearly conveyed that we didn't need anything, they didn't seem to understand the issue and could not explain. The supposed maintenance guy who did this was in proximity and after words to the effect of "stay out of my room" were exchanged he tried to get violent. When my wife and I later confronted the front desk about the matter, the owner's son, Matthew Romano, was very unprofessional and rude. When I asked who owned the hotel, he told me to "F off" multiple times. It was a nightmare. read more

We dropped in on a last minute reservation, only to find out that by my own mistake, we didn't have a reservation after all. Jeremy said not to worry, that he would take care of us. Place is very simple and clean. Rooms provide enough space for a family (had a two bed room with living room). There is a heated outdoor pool which is nice after a day of skiing. No hot tub though. If your looking for a resort this is not that. If your looking for a place to sleep near killington and the restaurants this is great. Side note I've stayed in many of the lodges near killington and they are mostly all the same. This one wins as it has two bedrooms and a pool. If you want nicer killington grand is the answer, However you will pay for it. read more

I've been a time-share owner at North Star Lodge for years, and I come here for a week in June each summer. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. Some have been working here for as long as I've owned my timeshare. But I was disappointed to see upon my arrival earlier this week that a few employees (maintenance) were not wearing facial coverings inside the lodge. When I came out of my room, wearing a facial covering, two of the workers were in the hallway without coverings and didn't even make an effort to give me 6-feet of space. I spoke with the manager, Dean, and he said employees are not required to wear facial coverings. According to the VT Department of Health, the following is required: Addendum 10 requires that employees wear non-medical cloth face coverings (bandanna, scarf, or nonmedical mask, etc.) over their nose and mouth when in the presence of others. In the case of retail cashiers, a translucent shield or "sneeze guard" is acceptable in lieu of a mask. The manager of North Star Lodge is aware that I filed a complaint with the health department, yet he has done nothing to ensure all his employees wear facial coverings. I'm not only thinking about the safety of guests but what about the staff? Don't they deserve to be kept safe too? read more

I am staying for the weekend because some of my family are running the Spartan Race on Killington. I am not running, so I spent a fair amount of time at the Lodge. I am disappointed in the condition of the place in general. There are places where the carpet is worn and actually torn in hallways and on stairs. I do realize that VT has harsh weather and the halls do take a beating, but it the fall now, those areas should have been taken care of. Other things I noted, the pull out bed is in awful shape, the mattress sags so badly in the middle, its almost comical. The mattress in the master bedroom is extremely hard and the sheets are stiff and uncomfortable. I did a little cooking and noted that the knives are so incredibly dull, it is almost comical. On the plus side, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The exterior is beautiful due to the gorgeous landscape and the exterior of the building is well maintained. There are a few vending machines, but no food service on the premises, it is 3 miles from the mountain and the road leading to Killington is loaded with restaurants and a great mini grocery store. One other real bummer is the internet speed. Around 4pm, you can forget about getting on Netflix, you would be lucky to compete a google search. . read more

Understand what you are getting with this place. A very dated hotel, which does the trick for a ski weekend as long as you just need a place to lay your head. We were in a standard room which was fairly clean, but severely dated. Do I need a 42" HDTV? No, but something better than a 13" tube would have been nice. The walls in the bathroom could have used a coat of paint, and the shower curtain could have been replaced, but it wasn't bad for a night or 2. The staff was really helpful and nice. What makes this closer to a 2.5 star rating (when will Yelp allow half stars? 2 seems too low, but 3 is a little high), is the wings in the bar area. I was pleasantly surprised with them. Fried nicely and a good sauce on them. Not exactly helpful in a review of a hotel, I know. But they were really good! read more

This place is OK for the area. You have to understand that the Killington area was built up the 80s when things were simpler. Now the area is as a whole dated. If you are looking to go sit in a hot tub, eat fine meals, relax at a resort... This whole area is not for you except for maybe the Killington grand resort run by Killington Ski area. I'd recommend Smuggler's notch or Stowe if you want to be pampered or want 5 star accommodations. I paid $90 for a room on the "penthouse" level. It was not bad. This is more of a place to crash and go skiing or hiking than anything else. Killington mountain is a huge ski area with the best terrain in the east. Also the area has a lot of bars that have free shuttles to and from this hotel. Killington is attempting to make the area more luxurious but frankly right now it is not. So don't view the area as a resort, more of a place where you are going to go do some outdoor activity, have drinks at a local bar and crash at a no frills hotel. read more

When we booked this place, the rate seemed reasonable at $330/night for what I was told was a two bedroom suite. I come to find out I was misinformed. Its a one bedroom suite with a lumpy pullout couch. The bathroom is small with a tiny shower that emits low water pressure. Among other things, forget about any truly functioning Internet access. The wifi they "provide" is a complicated login/password routine you have to do every five minutes. Not satisfied. read more

Horrible experience. I bought a Travelzoo Voucher and North Star lodge cancelled my reservation due to hurricane flooding. They refused to refund me. I also offered to take a credit for a later date, they refused to work with me. They cancelled my reservation. I didn't think my request was unreasonable. The staff was courteous and had been very great in giving us the information about the nearby attractions. The room was clean and neat. There was a temporary water issue , in which the water from the tap had the bacteria , because their pumps had malfunctioned , but been repaired . If you want a no-frills, clean room in a beautiful area, this is your place. Yes, the decor is dated, the tvs are old, and everything is a little tired. But, the staff was incredibly friendly and the room was very clean. That's really all I need. Well, that and AC, which they also had (though it did sound like it was maybe on its last legs, it functioned fine). I appreciated the game room (Mortal Kombat arcade!) and lending library. I also loved the small, heated pool. It's not the most luxurious place in the world, but hopefully you're outside enjoying the beautiful outdoors. We stayed using a Groupon deal and were very happy with our inexpensive weekend stay. read more

Don't stay here. Hated it is an understatement. I stayed for two nights with another couple, otherwise I would have just gone home. I slept on my coat on both nights because the room was disgusting. The blankets were old and had cigarette holes, the sheets had hair on them, the pillows smelled like they came out of someone's grandmother's attic, there was crap underneath the bed (evidencing the fact that the cleaning people DON'T clean), the carpet probably gave me foot fungus, the bathroom flooring was coming up, and the shower floor was black. The tv was old and smaller than my phone. The only reason to stay here is the proximately to the mountain and the pool. Maybe you can sleep in the pool. Maybe you could deal with this hotel if it was cheap, but it's NOT. The price should have been half of what we paid per night. The picture they show online I believe are from their time shares. NOT their 1980's rooms. Don't be tricked. read more

I can't complain, I had purchased a Travel Zoo voucher that gave us 2 nights and a $30- meal voucher for a hundred bucks. The lodge is bare bones and very basic. It is definitely not a place I would want to take a date that I was trying to impress ...... but it was fine as I no longer need to impress my wife. The lodge and rooms were clean and all the staff was very friendly. The heated outdoor pool did not tempt me given the 45 degree air temperature and ......there's not much else. It is a very basic Killington establishment and if you don't expect much you won't be disappointed. read more

Nice spot and very close to all the good spots in Killington. Needs a little updating but has a nice staff and fair prices.

North Star is very neglected, especially when compared to nearby Smuggler's Notch which had much better units, many many more amenities (multiple indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, tennis, etc, etc) and costs half the points. We dropped 50,000 RCI time share points on a 4 night stay. For this we got: Trash under a bed. Hairball in the corner in the bathroom. Carpets were stained (Carpets? Really? Serving skiers tracking in salty slush all winter?). Dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Dishes in the cupboard were dirty, we ran them all through on heavy-duty. The ugly artificial plants were covered in dust. Stove had missing knob and a big gouge on the cooktop, for which they should have (perhaps did) charge the person who damaged it and then never fixed it. Armoire in the master bedroom takes up lots of floor space, yet you can only hang 12 garments because of the stupid hanger arrangement. What is that microwave/grill thing? Who wants to read technical manuals on vacation? 3 old tube TV sets take up too much space and don't let me connect my phone to watch movies like I can with a modern, cheap, flatscreen. The place has the feel of a B- motel, with a cost of a premium resort. read more

We also had the travelzoo voucher. Reservation was easy and check in was quick. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful (we forgot to print the voucher, we were able to email. Later we bought a bottle of wine, they had an opener). The place is bare bones. Nothing fancy.... Older tvs, basic bedding and bathrooms. But, comfortable bed and nice location. They have no restaurant or bar on site, but, a restaurant just outside the door. We had read not so great reviews about it, so, did travel further down the road to eat (I also reviewed The Garlic and Peppinos) The heated outdoor pool was great. We enjoyed about an hour of swimming while admiring the mountain views. The pool alone makes the hotel worth staying! We didn't see towels provided (and, to be fair, we didn't ask about them), so, we used bath towels from our room. Overall, we would come again. It seems like their rates are very reasonable and again, that pool is awesome! read more

This company appears to go by different names: North Star Properties, North Star Lodge and Resort, North Star Timeshares. And sometimes the name is combined as NorthStar. They are located on the Killington Rd, Killington, VT. The company uses different tactics to entice people to attend sales presentations for resort timeshares. You may be told you've won a contest or simply receive an offer in the mail promising you a gift such as an iPad, airline tickets or a free hotel package. In our case we we received several different offers and finally decided to take them up on the offer for two airline tickets (up to $1,300 in total value) plus two free nights in a hotel. The offer said nothing about any additional fees. We attended a sales presentation on the Killington Road in Killington, VT. A salesman spoke to me and my wife for about an hour. He was polite; we were polite, but in the end we declined to purchase the timeshare. At that point he gave us a voucher for our supposedly free gift. However, as we drove home we read the fine print. In order to receive our plane tickets we needed to comply with all the stipulations within 21 days and send $100 to a processing company in Florida. At that point we would receive a "travel request form." The fine print went on to explain that in order to process the "travel request form," we would be charged an additional $75 per person to purchase our airline tickets. We would also be charged "approximately $25 - $75 per person" for the hotel stay. In addition, if we traveled during "peak" times, other "surcharges may apply." So before I tell the rest of the story, let's do the math. According to the original letter we received in the mail, the airline tickets and hotel stay would be free. But if you add up all the processing fees, the fine print says you will be charged up to $400 plus possible "surcharges." In addition, the processing company reserved the right to reject your reservation during certain high peak travel times, but didn't state what those times might be. We decided that the hotel stay probably wasn't worth the possible $150 processing fee, but since we were already planning a trip to California, we decided the total processing fee of $250 would be worth it for the airline tickets. ($100 to get the "travel request form," plus $75 each when we actually made the plane reservation.) A certified check was required and I sent it immediately so that it would arrive in Florida within the required 21 days. But instead of receiving the promised "travel request form," everything (including the the cashiers check) was returned to us stamped "Void." Even though our voucher had arrived in time (it was date stamped), I had failed to follow one of the requirements. I was supposed to send it by certified mail. I tried calling the 800 number in Florida to find out why this mattered, but only got an answering machine and no one returned my call. I also called North Star, but they refused to help. The word SCAM may seem strong, but keep in mind that we were promised "two free airline tickets and two free nights in a hotel." North Star doesn't tell you that you will pay around $400 in processing fees plus other possible surcharges. They also don't tell you about all the hurdles you'll have to jump over and the blackout dates. Just remember, "If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. read more

I'm writing this review from my room in the North Star Lodge. This hotel is our family's standard choice when we go skiing in Killington. It's nothing spectacular, but it's cozy and a good value for the money. It's got a nice living room area with couches and a large fireplace and an outdoor heated swimming pool -- the combination of swimming in very hot water during the very cold winter is awesome. It also has a game room (good for kids), washers/dryers, and a bar. Only the living room area is equipped with wifi, but it stretches to most of the rooms. read more

Booked at 2pm on Christmas on Booking.com and paid $150 for a small suite for the family. Had the things we needed. Pool (very warm and outdoors lots of fun), kitchen in room and shuttle to Killington. SEEMED GOOD BUT NOT SO MUCH Nice area with fireplace to seat but was filled with another family, game room but nothing fun to do just some old video games and air hockey. Small workout room was fine. Didn't try the food. Suite was fine ( bed comfy but pull out couch terrible) the large jacuzzi tub didn't work correctly and at one point sprayed water everywhere. When the guy came to fix it he said yes that happens often. PROBLEM: Get the teenagers up, fed and all their gear ready to go. Asked at 7:00am about the shuttle and told just walk out to main road and it runs on a loop. Seems easy enough. BUT NO the kids stand out there are 25 mins and no service. So I go to the front desk and ask whats going on and the lady says its not their shuttle it only runs every hour and she doesn't know anything....Then I demand she call and find out whats up. She does and at the same time the shuttle drives by and doesn't pick up the kids who are trying to flag it down. Now I am really mad and I say you need to get the shuttle back now. She flustered and calls down for a pick up again. They swing back and get them. Then the woman says here's the schedule and hands me a printout. Why wasn't I given this at 7AM ???? Then I said I wanted to be compensated because we have missed an hour of skiing. Manager says no because I already got the room at the discount. He was rude to me and told me it was almost 11 and I needed to check out. read more

The heat stopped working our second night.....as an individual who works in customer service, I am happy to say that the front desk was accommodating and found us a new room that fit our whole family for the last night, as well as some compensation for the future if we choose to come back. For a RCI property near a ski resort, having no heat is unacceptable- and it took a day for an engineer to show up to fix it. While the regular rooms are in major need of renovation, the condo units are very nice. I hope that the property gets the renovation it needs to make this place all it can be- it has the potential to be a nice property. read more

Another voucher-user here. We were given the voucher as a gift and used it the weekend of the 28th of Oct. As mentioned, the rooms are simple and were probably just the hippest thing in the 80's. It's the same furniture and TV but everything worked and was clean so no serious complaints there. Contrary to what other's have posted about the pool, we found our experience to be less than stellar. It was not warm enough for the weather outside (low 30's) and the saunas, once we found them, were also not very warm. Those saunas are on a timer, turn the timer and they should heat up. Unfortunately, 20 min was not long enough for them to get over 100 deg F. The staff were very friendly but we probably wouldn't stay here again. read more

Just checked in and couldn't be happier with the accommodations. This place is awesome, not sure where the bad reviews are from.

I was hesitant to stay here after reading the other reviews on yelp, but the price was good so I booked it anyways. I am so glad I did too! My husband and I stayed here for two nights so we could go snowboarding at Killington. The other reviews must have been before some major changes were made because we were very pleased with the North Star Lodge and would definitely stay here again. The room was very clean, nicely decorated, spacious and with storage for ski equipment. The common area had a wonderful wood-burning fireplace that was so cozy to sit by. The location was also perfect. Just an eight minute drive to Killington - going slow because it was snowing. And restaurants surrounding it. The only complaints were the pillows and mattress were a little hard and the walls were thin so it was a little noisy. The water pressure in the shower was also too weak for my taste. Nothing that got in the way of us having a great stay, and a great rest. The outdoor pool looked cool but was out of order during our stay. We will definitely be staying here again the next time we go back to Killington. read more
