Terrible experience here. The staff are mean and will make you feel stupid if you call to ask them a question. They are not helpful, or nice. Their website says they are open 24/7. They will TOW 24/7 but if you need to pick your car up, THEY CLOSE AT 5PM. I was in an accident, and went to pick up my personal items before the vehicle was released to my insurance and they would not allow me to retrieve my items. They stated they could not allow anyone back there for security reasons since there was no one to escort me. When I came back to pick up my personal items, they merely waved me back to the lot: no escort, no gate on the lot. So much for security! They should have their hours clearly stated on their website and their staff should be knowledgeable enough to let people know this. It's a racket so they can charge $$ for the storage fee read more

Everyone has different experiences with tow companies and with so many factors at play (time of day, seasonal weather, location, tow volume) it's hard to find the right company in stressful situations. These guys sometimes get a bad rap because they contract with the City of Evanston for parking/traffic enforcement. They don't write the rules, they just follow the law and mandate assigned to them. If you're getting towed for an infraction, it's on you. I was left stranded for over three hours from my insurance company's tow dispatch service, so I called North Shore Towing and they came to my rescue. I needed a flatbed truck and there a fewer of these specialty tow trucks around ($$$$), so had to wait a 45 minutes, which still would have beaten the other tow company's arrival estimate by an hour. The dispatch guy was great and kept me updated on availability and arrival, he called me back! My tow operator Al immediately put me at ease upon arrival. My stress level dropped significantly, as he was super professional and very friendly. His upbeat demeanor is hard to find these days, so if your lucky enough the get Al on your next tow, count yourself blessed! read more

I don't normally like to review small businesses, but I found this company to not care about my call at all. called them and stated I needed a flat bed. puts me on hold right away. then picks up minutes later badgering me about where I am. I try to get it together and he puts me on hold again without any pause in words. called back 5 minutes later and states he's too busy to talk to me because the cops are there. I respect the boys in blue, but why the heck would the dispatch think he's too busy to conduct business? I also used them before for a flatbed and thought their price was high. called a local competitor and had no problem getting dispatched. cheaper price. don't waste your time on poor personality and business ethics. read more

They man the lot for Mt Zion Baptist Church in Evanston and while you are told by the pastor that you have time to go in to the assisted-living community and get a parking pass, that allows you to park in the lot they sit here and wait in the minute you walk away from your car they tell you immediately they're abusive they're rude. They lied to me repeatedly when they said that they don't do a predatory tow. They only wait for the church to call them. The pastor of the church told me differently and then the tow company told me that they're lying, and they need to repent, it is a big scam. They're just out here to make money and not take into consideration that walking into an assisted living community and getting the right paperwork that allows you to park in this lot might take a minute or two I walked into the assisted-living community at 1:22 and my car was towed at 1:28. read more

My 18 year old let the battery run out on my Tesla. It died 2 feet too far from charger. He tried to take full responsibility so he called this towing company to tow the car to a Tesla dealer. They quoted him $250. The tow truck arrives hooks up the Tesla and proceeds to move it backward toward the charge station. My son informs the driver that he asked to have it towed to the dealer because you can't charge a dead Tesla. The guy tells him he isn't towing the car to the dealer and charges my son $280. My son tells him he was quoted $250 not $280. The guy says, "$280." So my son confirms, "You came to move my car back two feet for $280?" Driver says, "Yup." Now I say .. That's extortion! So my son literally crawled in the trunk of the Tesla with a blanket that I keep there, to keep warm because it was freezing out and both His Dad and I were working and unreachable. My son sat there waiting for 3 hours!!! Thank God my son was a boyscout as a kid and had some cold weather survival training! Thankfully he got ahold of me literally minutes before his phone died. Expensive lesson learned for my kid - Don't let the battery run out on mom's car, and DON'T EVER CALL OR RECCOMEND NORTHSHORE TOWING IN EVANSTON! My husband owns a body shop with his brother.. When I called back, the dispatcher said that the driver will be back in an hour. Sure enough, the driver was back within an hour, picked up my car and dropped it off at the dealership. When I got in accident my card was totally broken. So I was going to give away my car, I called these people. They made $200 cash Deal and take car. When driver came with truck he said he doesn't have cash they will send me a check in 5 business days. When I called them after 5 days these guys who picked up call said there is no car in record they took. And he started asking me question like , was it our company truck, how driver looked like. And when I gave him all information he hung up on me. But guess what after couple days When I called again and told them I've my garage camera recorded video. And it shows that one of their driver came and took my car. They got scared or something right away within a hour driver came and gave me my cash. Please be careful with these people. Well, he was the one to rescue me as I got a flat on Sheridan Rd and had to turn onto North Shore while I was helping my girlfriend, who was on vacation, locate a delivery of a drum set for her 17 year old son. Brought the car home for a test drive and could not get it into gear in the garage. Apparent transmission problems. Eddie did an absolutely marvelous job of dealing with a difficult situation. He was very careful at all times, which was important since I did not yet own this car and it was going back via a tow truck. Under no circumstances would I recommend working with this company. This towing company was hired prior to me being on the board, but I have no idea why they were chosen. Over the course of two years, I've seen nonstop problems with the lots either not being patrolled or towing authorized cars. One time they even towed a car IN THE SAME DAY after it had already been paid and released. Although I tried to give them a shot since we were already contracted with them, things have continued to get worse. 1. Neighbors and strangers are constantly parking in our lot to the point where I am, personally, becoming more of a patrol parking officer than NorthShore, who we are paying. I looked at surveillance cameras one day and saw an unauthorized truck there for three hours and another car was parked in our lot for one hour. I never saw one patrol car go by during the time the truck or car was here. 2. Although NorthShore Towing has a contract that clearly states that the client has to supply hours for patrol, anytime you ask them when they patrol the lot, prepare to get vague answers about the amount of times they come in a day, the hours that they come or even if they come at all. If you choose "24/7," prepare for them to dance around the issue of what their schedule looks like. Pretty much expect to always have to call in when an unauthorized car is in your lot because they're definitely not going to do it. 3. I was told that they hustle people out of more money by keeping up old parking/towing signs in the lot but charging more. Towing companies are responsible for updating their own signs to reflect current rates because it would look extremely suspicious if the sign says one thing and the car owner gets to the lot and it says another. Although one owner on another property already got tricked into paying about $50 more because of this, I had to call to get them to change the sign. That's problematic, and the towing company should be first to notify me, not an owner on ANOTHER property. 4. If you can, avoid talking to Safet (general "office manager") at all costs. Although he knows he has a heavy accent, he will get an immediate attitude with you if you ask him to spell his name. Me asking him this one time resulted in him shouting "OH MY GOD!" I asked him about our contract, and he told me we hadn't paid for the annual contract since January. This is problematic on many levels. Why would NorthShore hire an "office manager" who is so bad at record-keeping that he would allow his patrol officers to come by for 10 straight months without EVER telling the company that they are late on payment. Had I not challenged their lack of patrolling, I wouldn't have had a clue that it was not paid by the property management company who was in charge of payments before I came aboard. And oddly, they allowed us to update contact information and parking spaces and board members without ever checking their records to see there has not been a payment for almost a year. Bob, as the owner, you definitely need a better record-keeper. In the middle of trying to narrow down payment as well as patrol hours, I was screamed at by Safet and Maria (a customer service rep, who up until this point I always thought was cool and never had a problem with her). Maria also seemed to take issue with another board member calling to ask reasonable questions about parking and then hung up the phone. I don't have the time nor the patience to teach a company how to do their job. After this conversation, we fired them. We will find a towing company that actually wants to do their job, not just say they're doing it. read more

If you need a tow, for gods sake, FIND A DIFFERENT COMPANY. This one is absolutely the worst I have ever come across. Below is my experience in total: -Geico contacted this "towing company " at 5:30 PM to get a tow truck out to the West Loop. They quoted me an ETA of 6:30 PM. -6:30 came and went, I had to call the North Shore to ask for an ETA. All the dispatcher told me was "We're running behind." No apology was offered, or even an empathetic tone. They estimated another 60-90 minutes. I asked them to call my number 5 minutes before they arrive so I can move the car out of the borrow garage. -At 8:30 PM I called North Shore again to ask for an ETA, it it had been over 3 hours since Geico originally contacted them. Again, I was met with a dismissive "We're still running really behind and it'll be about 60 minutes." Again, no apology given to a paying customer. -I immediately called Geico, who contacted North Shore. Geico relayed to me that North Shore "was having issues getting downtown." They assured me they would still be arriving shortly. -At 10 PM Geico called and said the tow truck driver was downstairs. My brother went down to talk to him while I moved the car out of the garage. The driver was attempting to DRIVE AWAY after finally arriving over 4 hours late because he said "the person is not answering". My brother said he had no missed calls, but the driver canceled anyways and drove away as I came out of the garage, not even willing to wait 1 minute. -I called North Shore to ask what number they were calling. They repeated back to me the incorrect number and said "that's the number Geico supplied." I was more than upset. The dispatcher Nikki (incredibly rude) made it seem like they were doing me a favor by towing my car and getting PAID to do it. Still no apology, simply blamed it on Geico. -I immediately called Geico and asked them for the contact information they have on file for me. They repeated back my correct number! This is a terrible towing company. There are many, many competitors in Chicagoland. Choose one of them over this joke of a company. I guarantee it can't be any worse. Check out the 1 Star reviews and you will see a pattern, the company is unprofessional. The company will take jobs and have you waiting for hours without sending a driver. This has happened to so many people. Worst towing experience ever, and unprofessional behavior. Do not for gods sake use this towing company. They had me waiting for over 5 hours and because Nicki, the worst dispatcher ever, took my number down wrong they left without getting my car. Nicki is rude, unprofessional, and should not be working with customers, she talks over you and when the mistake was hers she tried to blame it on us. I had to call AAA roadside assistance and was in a very dangerous situation driving with that tire. To make matters worse, the lady at the counter (don't know her name, on the large side, wears sweatpants and heavy eye makeup) was extremely rude!
