Helped us have an awesome weekend in talkeetna. Helped adjust the kids bikes and rented fat tire bikes for a great rate. Thanks Shawn!

Sheldon Air Service - Our pretty blue and white Beaver plane

The aircraft is a piston powered beaver and not as capable as the turboprop aircraft of other tour companies, so if you want to land on a glacier, go elsewhere. I wish they had been more up front about this fact, but otherwise it was a beautiful flight.

I called early in the morning and let it be known that I wanted a flight on one of two days, time didn't matter. I was contacted a couple of hours later to let me know I could join three others on a flight at 4 pm. Yay! The ground crew (sorry didn't get names) were very helpful and supplied dark sunglasses and overshoes (the glacier landing was a bit mushy for my tennis shoes). Chris gave a great safety briefing and we were off. They don't fly if the weather is hiding all of the mountains and glaciers. We had some clouds, which I think added some mystery to the sights. The small Beaver plane had room for 5 plus the pilot (you got to let him com) but ther were only 4. I got the back seat so I could see out both sides. The plane was clean and the flight was generally smooth. The pictures just can't do justice to the amazing views and the scale of the mountains and glaciers.

I was a…read morelittle apprehensive spending $300 each for about an hour of entertainment, but it was worth every penny. The views were incredible, and for most people, this is as close as you'll ever get to summiting Denali! Talkeetna Aero Services was great. Everyone is extremely professional and super focused on safety. Oh, and they have a few cute doggies running around their office - including one that had run in the Iditarod, and another that is a spitting image of our own dog! But back to the flightseeing. It's not cheap, but you've come this far to Alaska -- just pay up!

Nice to have headsets for all so we could chat with each other and ask the pilot questions, and the views were absolutely fantastic--we really lucked out getting to go up on a clear, (mostly) cloud-free day! Dave the pilot even let my niece and nephew take turns 'copiloting.' Got to meet Doni the Iditirod champ as well--a super friendly and sweet dog! Besides a few roller coaster moments due to turbulence, it was a great ride. One warning for folks like me with ear issues--the cabin's not pressurized, and you do get high--10K feet, which was hard on my ears. But within a day of being back on terra firma, my ears were okay again.

We booked a tour for Tuesday but the weather was bad. He made multiple attempts to contact us the day before to reschedule but we were in the middle of the national park with no reception. He also offered to reschedule on Wednesday. Lucky we could rearrange other plan to fly with him on Wednesday. Oh man, this was the NICEST experience in Alaska so far (we did zip line, boat tour, bus tour). It's worth every penny and every minute. This is the best way to see Alaska.

During our visit to the Talkeetna area there were wildfires burning, we were unable to make it to the meeting area but Fred and his helper Rich came to the hotel and picked us up so we wouldn't miss out on the fun. He first took us to a secluded spot by a river where the salmon were literally swimming between our feet. We could have reached down and scooped them up, but we were there to learn how to fly fish, so learn we did! Fred was extremely patient with me and my husband....and our limited fishing abilities! He came supplied with everything you could need or want during the tour. The waders fit perfectly, and kept us warm in the glacier water. While driving to our second fishing spot he supplied yummy croissant sandwiches to snack on during the ride. The second fishing spot had just as many salmon and we were able to catch quite a few fish. I had a beautiful trout on my line but unfortunately I didn't snag him and he got off the hook. I was bummed, but Fred is so encouraging before I knew it I had a huge salmon on the line and brought it in successfully. While we enjoyed fishing Rich cooked up some salmon by the shore along with vodka tonic and rum and cokes. We took a break to enjoy a perfect meal of deliciously cooked salmon and a nice cocktail. It was seriously a perfect day, despite the wildfires in area. I just hope that Rich and Fred's property were not impacted. If I am ever back in the area, this would be the first tour I book. It was a great experience and a super fun day!! Thank you Fred and Rich for making this the highlight of our trip!

Had a delicious lunch and drinks and caught fish all afternoon. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. The spot Fred took us the fish were jumping out of the water right before our eyes. As the sun started to go down it was impossible not to catch a fish. We even ate our fresh fish on the beach. We were celebrating my Mom's 60th Birthday and Fred made it an extra special day. My brother is already wanting to make another Alaska trip next year just to fish with Fred!
