This experience was unreal. And it was 100% worth the money. We had been hearing about doing some sort of helicopter or flight of some around the mountain when we saw the weather was going to be as good as it is we booked it! We were really hoping to get the land on a glacier experience but it was sold out. You arrive a little before and check it and they weight you and then the pilots map it out. You then wait for your name to be called and head out with your pilot. The view we had were stunning and unlike anything I have ever seen. Tom our pilot was great at pointing things out and making sure both sides of the plane got the same views. The trip was around 1 hour and maybe 20 mins. And they provided headsets so you could all talk. I cannot recommend this enough and also recommend watching the weather if possible to find the best time to make sure the weather is in your favor. read more

If you're not climbing Denali, this is the next best option!!! We had a rental car and drove out to the airport. It's located right outside downtown Talkeetna so be sure to save some time to stop in town. At first I was a bit frightened of the tiny little aircraft, but the pilot/guide was amazing. Points out all of the safety features and quickly gets you off the ground. You've got about 1 hour and 15 mins up in the air to see the surrounding area. Our guide pointed out all the rivers, mountains, glaciers, etc. You get up close and personal with Denali and can even make out where the trails to climb would be. We took flight in March so there were no climbers or any other planes in the area. Truly majestic to be out above the mountains with nobody around. Think it was just $220 or so for the flight. Was great value and I highly recommend the adventure. read more

Overall an amazing experience that was enhanced with great customer service! We booked the Grand Denali flight with a Glacier Landing, but through a miscommunication somewhere the pilot took us on a shorter route with the glacier landing. Upon landing I went into the office to see about a refund for the difference in price, but they approached us first having realized the mistake and offered us a refund for the difference or better yet to hop back on the plane and they would fly us on the Grand Denali tour without the landing this time, and they even offered the 2nd trip to the couple that only paid for the shorter trip, I was impressed, so back on the plane to complete our trip around Denali! I went really excited for this adventure and left pretty let down. First, not the company's fault but they weren't doing trips to Denali because of weather so they were offering trips, for the same price, to the Talkeetna mountains instead. They had video footage playing of what we were going to see and it still looked pretty cool so we went anyways. We were told we would still see glaciers and that the terrain was interesting. We saw one glacier for a few seconds but most of the flight we were flying over dead forests. Apparently a beetle took down most of the spruce trees in this area. Very depressing views actually. When we started to see cool stuff the pilot took a turn because he said there were winds that way and he didn't want to get us sick. I was up for the adventure but instead just saw more dead trees. The lady sitting next to me slept through 90% of the flight. The plane itself was a lot bigger than I expected and it was a very smooth flight. Was hoping for more of that small prop plane feel to get the adrenaline going but it was honestly pretty boring. It wasn't a request a refund bad but it wasn't anything I'd recommend doing. I guess my advice would be if they aren't running trips to Denali, then cancel or reschedule. read more

I have no idea how to describe this experience besides simply sublime. They have these helicopter trips to the top of Denali (previously known as Mount McKinley). The trips can last a couple of hours and are simply breath taking. They have a small plane with 8-10 passengers. You get about an 45 min trip to Denali. It's nice way to see Alaska from the air. Once you're closer to the mountains, they make several circles over all the nearby mountains. make sure you remember to bring your camera! The tour ends with an amazing landing on top of the glaciers. YES, you get 15-20 on top of the glacier. It is simply stunning pictures to say the least. The only downside is that it is extremely pricey. Be prepared to shell out a pretty penny. However, it is definitely a once in a lifetime experience. I would recommend it in a heart beat. read more

What can you say about an airplane flight around Denali? It was actually better than we expected. And, I had pretty high expectations. Absolutely spectacular views of Denali and the surrounding mountains and glaciers. The pilot did a good job pointing out landmarks and things like the climbers base camp. The weather cooperated so we had minimal bumps in the air, which was a good thing since the airplane seats lack padding and support. Small price to pay for such a great experience. Went to Anchorage recently specifically to see Mt. Denali. Found this business who flies people over it and will land you on the mountain itself if the weather conditions are right. Unfortunately, on the day we went we weren't able to land, but the flight itself is completely worth it. Plus, they gave us credit back for the extra we paid to land. Our pilot was very professional and very informative. What's more often if what he was talking about was on one side of the plane, he would circle around so that the other side of the plane's passenger could see it as well. This ended up being the highlight of our trip to Alaska in June. First, we arrived a bit yearly and their offices and facilities are very clean and nice. The staff was friendly and informative. As we waiting for our pilot, we enjoyed watching the planes come in and out. I was a bit nervous doing this since I knew it would be a small plane. I was pleasantly surprised how large the nice the plane was. Our pilot was excellent and provided a wonderful commentary throughout the flight. I did not add pictures here since there are so many added by previous review. YES you will not be able to put your phone/camera down. It is breathtakingly beautiful. And make sure you include the Glacier landing. it was just a life experience I am so glad we did. I will add one caveat that we got very fortunate with the weather. We were traveling in Alaska for about 1.5 weeks in September of 2011. We knew that we would have to be flexible with the weather but we were hopeful things would work out. At the start of the trip we had to cancel some water events on the coast due to rain and wind. We had a chance to visit the Denali state park and had a great time on the Tundra Wilderness Tour. We had not gotten a view of Mt. McKinley but also understood that only 30% of people get to see the mountain so we enjoyed our visit in the park and the animals that got to see. Heading south to Talkeetna we were amazed to see the clouds clear up and Mount McKinley finally show. We had a flight schedule with K2 Aviation the next morning but we knew that by then it might be back in the clouds. We gave K2 Aviation a call and they were very helpful in letting us move our trip time. They came to pick us up at the hotel and we found that four others were also scheduled for next day and moved their time. As we now had a total of seven people going they sent us up in a twin prop plane. The plane was in great shape and comfortable. We took off and had the just the best flight. The pilot gave us some great narrative on the mountain and what we were seeing. The air was so smooth and the plan really quick. We were at the mountain within 15 minutes and flew around the mountain for at least 35 minutes. No matter which way you looked it was just amazing. I consider this one of the best events of the trip. If you are in the area and the weather breaks you really need to look K2 Aviation up and take a flight with them. The memories will last a lifetime. read more

Wow! What an amazing experience this was. My two friends and I decided to book this flight tour (based on reviews here) during our after-season trip to Alaska. We assumed it would be cool, but it exceeded our expectations. Our pilot, Ryan, was knowledgable and friendly, and the plane was a cool Vietnam era craft (called an Otter, I think). The weather for our tour was out of this world--totally clear sky and no clouds to be seen. They told us it was the best flying day they had seen in months! Getting to see Denali and the other peaks up close was breathtaking, and Ryan told us a lot of history and answered all of our questions expertly. Denali was obviously the main attraction, but there were a lot of other beautiful peaks in the range, as well as some glaciers. It was fun to loop through the peaks and see so much. I'm sure the tour would still have been great even if the weather wasn't so good, so I highly recommend this tour. Definitely book in advance. These guys are the major player in town if you want to take a flight up to Denali and optionally do a glacier landing. We chose them on a recommendation from an AirBNB host that gave us a discount code. The flight - we did the Grand Tour - was pretty epic. On this one you circle Denali entirely, and with the landing, which we did, you also land on the glacier. Due to the timing (August) we landed on the Pike glacier, which didn't really have a view of Denali, but did have a nice view of Foraker. The plane, a 1965 De Havilland Otter seating 10, and our pilot were both great, and it was definitely an experience I'll remember for the rest of my life. One tip for photographers - the Otter has exhausts on both sides of the engine up front. If you want clean air sit toward the back. Also, if you really want to focus on the photography be aware the windows don't open and the plexiglass is often fairly scratched & warped. Most of my photos will make for nice memories but will never get printed/framed due to poor detail, blurriness, etc. If you're a serious photographer consider another company, or at the very least a different plane. read more
