The River Park is several things: a tent campground with 10 sites, a public use restroom, river access to the Susitna and Talkeetna River Confluence with a walking trail along the water, and public parking. This is Not an Rv park.
Each campsite has room for one vehicle, on large or two small tents, and has a fire ring, picnic table and a bbq. There is one men's and one ladies room, each with a self flushung toilet, a automatic sink, soap dispenser and hand dryer. There's also automatic lighting in the restrooms that come on in the dark. You might wonder why I mention this, but running water and electricity at public campgrounds in ALASKA is quite unusual. There even a drinking fountain. I almost fainted when I saw the running water. Sites are 15 dollars night and you have virtually no privacy. The campground is in a high traffic and something of hippie/communal/college student/backpackers kinda deal. It serves the purpose when your passing through, but I think it would be difficult to get a good rest night after night.
Currently there is no campground host so firewood may or may not be available. Toilet paper was however available, but it could potentially run out, so be prepared. Showers are available a block away at the Talkeetna Roadhouse for couple bucks. read more
