BBQ pits and benches are available. There is a lodge with a kitchen and ice machine that can accommodate up to 80-100 participants. Before you go to CRP, make sure you call and plan out your activity ahead. Some trials may not be available in the raining season. Check your mountain bike to ensure they are in excellent working condition as there is an advanced or more difficult biking trials. No dogs or alcohol are allowed in the park! (in the middle of Florida!)…read more We discovered this charming remote gay campground 3+ years ago, when my husband, black lab and I rented one of the 3 yurts for a long weekend, over Thanksgiving, and have been coming down ever since. It was the community of existing "perms" (permanent) campers, weekenders, and eventually northern snowbirds -- who all contribute to the success of this evolving camp ground (and dare I say play-ground?) Orange groves, herds of cattle, and scrub palmetto's line the road to Venus Florida -- however when you drive through the central part of Camp Mars a canopy of live oak shade your site (and maybe just a few bare chests and the occasional bare ass (only at the pool, they insist!). It just doesn't get any closer to nature. There's few bugs, a friendly atmosphere, invitations to wine & cheese parties, or after-hours campfires. We were surprised that this campground (100 sites?) had so much to offer -- heated pool with pop music, large rec hall with a commercial grade kitchen open to all tenters, campers, alike, movies under the stars, sat eve themed dance parties, bingo on Friday, mexican train most nites, pot lucks on saturday for dinner, tent camping along the shared fenceline with cows, Pedro's trail for the nature lover/man lover and of course the newly expanded Gentleman's Club -- open all day, all nite, when you're a little restless. Let's be honest though...it's the friends you meet here, that make the difference. The ones who invite you to taste their homemade bbq rub, or the ones who help you "doll up" for your first drag attempt, or those who ask you to help out in fixing an adult mac 'n cheese for the pot-luck, that rub your shoulders as you sit poolside with a rum & coke. It's those connections, locating kindred spirits that make Camp Mars so alluring -- without all the drama. Only 2 hours from Tampa Bay (and similarly from Miami/Ft. Our grill looks like it's been through WW2. And has no propane in it. People take their big dogs to the dog park and don't clean up after them. On the plus side the pool is nice. Most of the rv sites are big rig friendly. The town of Jensen Beach is quaint and within walking distance. I'm not entirely sure if I would recommend this place. They charge 3,400.00 a month for a rv site! At this price I would expect a lot more than what is offered. Like walking distance to the beach!

My weekend was really nice and there are several things I liked about this place. Such as: Its a perfect place for a family, safe and well supervised by not only the park staff but the sheriffs officers as well, there are plenty of hiking trails, lake and creek are both pretty, canoe and kayak rentals, plenty of spots for fishing and hunting. Each lot that you rent comes with a picnic table and a campfire ring. So that is pretty convenient. The only thing that I didn't care for about this park is that the camping sites are so close together. My experiences camping have been pretty extensive so I when they said 'primitive' I expected something a little more well.. primitive. The last time I went camping I visited the Peace River where we were very secluded and really had a more live-off-the-land camping experience so I was kinda hoping for something like that. It was kinda like riding a bike with training wheels. lol Anyway the lots are about 10 yards by 20 and the next one is right beside you. But there are mostly families and boy scouts spending time there so no need to worry about anything weird happening. The lot we rented was $15 a night and two cars are allowed on each lot. But there is a free lot for any additional cars you may need to bring. FYI - E1 and E2 are right by the bathrooms/showers. All in all I wouldn't necessarily call it 'primitive' camping but it is a nice experience if you're just starting out camping and you want to get your feet wet but aren't ready for a full-out secluded camping adventure.

There was a port-a-potty close by and a real bathroom with showers about a 4 minute walk. Staff cleaned the restroom often and the port-a-potty was well maintained. We rented bikes. I asked her if I could authorize it over the phone she said no. I asked her if I could authorize it over email, she told me no. It was planned that I would come in later at the end of the week after my trip was over to come and sign the paperwork. Then she informed my boyfriend that he did not get approved to live there. So I called and I wanted my electric deposit back and to make sure I was not going to get charged for the upcoming month (since we never technically moved in, we were just paying rent to save our spot) and to get my $50 for my background check back because she told me they could not run it without my signature. She then informed me that she already ran my background check. I said that's really weird and shady because you told me you couldn't do it without my signature. And she was just standing on that she is not giving back my money because they already ran it. I don't even care about getting the money back at the principal is you told me that you could not run my background check and then you hung up the phone and proceeded to do it anyways. That is so unprofessional and the way the property manager handled it (I know if I say her name it's easier for her to take this review down but it starts with a K) I said, proceeded to ask the corporate number and she flat out told me no. Refused to give me a corporate number and then she gave me an email that is her work email. I think it's really shady that you're gonna act that way and then refuse to let anybody report it. I was about to stay at this campground for the next 1 to 5 years. And honestly, this must be a blessing in disguise that I don't need to be near that woman because even when I stayed her the previous year, she had a nasty attitude. I just hope this review helps other people protect themselves in the future because this company will dance along the line of doing illegal things behind your back. I had no problem if they had run the background check, the principal of this is that you told me you could not, hung up the phone, and then we ended it anyway without my knowledge. Update 7.12.26 According to their investigation and according to their " proper procedure" they " did not do anything wrong". If calling someone to let her know that you could NOT run the background check, informing her she HAS to come in to sign the bottom line, hanging up the phone and then proceeding to do the background check anyways is what this company calls "proper procedure", then I'm taking it as a blessing that my name will not be associated with a company that has such sketchy "proper procedure". An halfway apology does not seem genuine when you only respond through an online platform when I have complained. I asked for the corporate number and I was denied. I asked for a corporate email and I was denied. I'm glad to know you guys pay attention to your online reviews, and I hope you do better in the future when it comes to your "proper procedure"

Camping over Labor Day weekend was such a great time at the state park! We spent the weekend doing…read morevarious things at the camp as well as in Jupiter area! I highly suggest hiking up to the top of Hobe Mountain Tower! The view is beautiful and it's only a 10 min walk from the parking lot! Another favorite from the weekend was fishing from the dock at the end of river camp! We caught puffer fish, garr, and stripped mojarra (may be spelled wrong lol)! It was a good time but be careful not to touch the puffer fish because they're poisonous!! The next highlight was walking the trails in the park! The Kitching Creek Nature Trail - Overlook is closed as of right now so the hike is pretty much the same the whole way. It's about a 1.5 mile walk. We camped at the River Campground, with 52 sites, is 4 miles from the park entrance, near the Loxahatchee River. That is where we fished in the evenings and mornings! I would say that close to all 52 sites were full for Labor Day, but it didn't seem crowded at all! The bathhouses held two showers and 3 bathrooms-quite clean as well! I would recommend stopping in if you get the chance! Plus super close to beautiful beaches!

We stopped by on a weekday and the park was pretty and relaxing. Not too many people on the couple of trails we did. The observation tower is closed but they still have a nice boardwalk up to that area that makes for a great walk! It's pretty highly elevated for Florida - kind of impressive in person! Entry is $6 per car, and the lady provided a map and recommended her favorite trail. We checked that trail out as well (the white trail), but the height of the observation tower trail was really the star! We decided to drive around after doing both trails, and we saw their campgrounds. So surprising at how busy this place was! It seemed there was hardly an empty spot! Must be a happening place to camp! We'd definitely return for more adventures, as this is a cool park!

First of all This is not a resort…read more Very laid back atmosphere. No one to check you in when you get there. I had to make a call to see what to do. Was told park anywhere and no one even asked our name. This is an oversized parking lot with 10 sites. Not all sites have full hookup as advertised. First site we pulled into had no sewer. If you don't have a 50amp RV, you must bring a converter as that's all they have, even though it's advertised as 30/50. Luckily we had one otherwise we would have had a problem. If it rains- be careful! Big storm last night and hookup area flooded where electric and sewer hookup was. Luckily we were hooked up prior to storm. Our neighbor who arrived shortly after storm was not so lucky and had to wait for area to dry up before they could hook up. It never did so they had to boondock at different site. My spouse was sick and we called the day before at 8am to see if we could reschedule. We spoke to someone who informed us to text the owners and they will get back to us when they can. I then texted. When I didn't hear back I called again at 3:30 and was told again the owners are busy and will get back to me eventually. I texted again at 5 and never heard back so we just went. It was frustrating I couldn't get an answer. The place is very chill. Family owned and ran. Met an owner who arrived hours after we hooked up. Very kind. Nice dock out back to watch sunrise and dolphins play. Chairs, fire pit and kayaks available for use. Island shack on property with laundry, shower, bathroom and couches. Walk to cute boutiques and art galleries and seafood restaurants.
