I have been primitive…read morecamping several times before (throughout my childhood) so I am always on the look out for a new place to check out. My weekend was really nice and there are several things I liked about this place. Such as: Its a perfect place for a family, safe and well supervised by not only the park staff but the sheriffs officers as well, there are plenty of hiking trails, lake and creek are both pretty, canoe and kayak rentals, plenty of spots for fishing and hunting. Each lot that you rent comes with a picnic table and a campfire ring. So that is pretty convenient. The only thing that I didn't care for about this park is that the camping sites are so close together. My experiences camping have been pretty extensive so I when they said 'primitive' I expected something a little more well.. primitive. The last time I went camping I visited the Peace River where we were very secluded and really had a more live-off-the-land camping experience so I was kinda hoping for something like that. It was kinda like riding a bike with training wheels. lol Anyway the lots are about 10 yards by 20 and the next one is right beside you. But there are mostly families and boy scouts spending time there so no need to worry about anything weird happening. The lot we rented was $15 a night and two cars are allowed on each lot. But there is a free lot for any additional cars you may need to bring. FYI - E1 and E2 are right by the bathrooms/showers. All in all I wouldn't necessarily call it 'primitive' camping but it is a nice experience if you're just starting out camping and you want to get your feet wet but aren't ready for a full-out secluded camping adventure.

This was my first time camping since I was a kid in Girl Scouts. The area was just beautiful. There was a port-a-potty close by and a real bathroom with showers about a 4 minute walk. Staff cleaned the restroom often and the port-a-potty was well maintained. We rented bikes. Next time we will rent kayaks. There were hiking trails and lots of wildlife. It was a great time!

Franklin Recreational Park with volleyball court, picnic tables, boat ramp, playground and an observation area over the dam and a Project exhibit office. On the river's North side, they created a campground on an island with RV/tent sites, electric hook up, water hook up, fishing pier, shower/restroom, Picnic shelters, grills and boat ramp. There are only 30 lots available so you have to book your reservation early. A quick drive in the campground shows us that this is a small and clean facility with friendly staff. Two words to describe this facility, "Well Run" The river view overlooking the W. P. Franklin Dam is calm and spectacular. It is secluded and quiet but only 30 minutes to Downtown Fort Myers. One bad news, you can only stay no more than 2 weeks but the rental fee at very reasonable rate of $30 per night! Thank You, Army Corps of Engineers!

They were constantly patrolling. At one point we started counting how many times they came by in an hour... they were literally circling the campgrounds nonstop and it was in 13-17 minutes intervals.

It was all we…read morehoped it would be and we're sorry we could not enjoy all of the activities they usually offer because of Covid. My husband loved the pickle ball courts and the two restaurants on site were absolutely stellar, especially Crumbs where we had many breakfast and dinners. The one time we had pizza we were very satisfied as well. RV years were mostly from Ohio and Michigan and a few Canadians, but that contingent was largely absent due to Covid. All the campers we met were friendly and helpful and the site was impeccable. The front office was especially helpful for providing notary public services for our vehicle purchases. My husband was wild about the pickle ball courts and the great folks that he played with. It was an especially good value for a month and even more so for a year. The pool was lovely and we looked forward to the Wednesday bake sales and farmers market. We would love to go back and might even consider wintering there next year. My only observation as a new RVEr was that the population At Florida RV parks in general was very Caucasian. There were no or very few Hispanics, African-Americans and Asians at the location. It was definitely LGBT friendly. Servers at Crumbs Country restaurant did not wear masks but outside dining was available and very comfortable. The overall belief of the RVers was that Covid had already come through the park and everyone simply distanced or rode by on their golf carts. Almost no one wore a mask.

Newly converted to a KOA. Right on US27 north of Moore Haven. Their "basic" sites include full…read morehookups, a nice picnic table, 20/30/50 Amp service, and a level grassy site. We didn't know they were here, and we're at the end of a very long day driving. Although we hadn't planned to stop, they appeared out of the dark night at just the right moment! We were probably lucky the campground was fairly empty... for many spaces, including the one we were in, the maneuvering space would be fairly tight to get in/out because the drives are very skinny. And, as you enter most of the paths leading towards our space we're one way, and I had to be a stickler and follow the signs, but having not made a very tight turn right inside the gate, I found we had to drive a way down to reach a drive that had arrows pointed in our direction, and about half way down there was a bunch of yellow tape blocking the road... a sign before turning would have been appreciated, because then we had to back down the street with the trailer in tow in the dark with several vehicles parked right at the edge of the road to avoid. After that, we went back towards the entrance and entered that first loop by the gate at an easier angle. Along the outside of the loop were a lot of campers with cars and tow vehicles partially in the road... a bit of a tight obstacle course. Then we got to our site which was in a fairly empty area, in an open field. The campground was very quiet although several other patrons were smokers, and siting out on the table fir dinner was out of the question due to prevailing winds. Overnight some very strong storms came through, and we discovered that drainage in our site had opportunities. The morning dog walk was in inch-deep water. It did drain by about an hour later, but that might be a problem with repeated storms. So, as with most KOA's, it was clean, quiet, level, with good water and power. Unlike most, the roadways are skinny, and where there are lots of campers, things get pretty tight. And, a nice touch was that they come around and pick up bagged trash from the site. The hosts were friendly, and they had everything set up to make a late night unplanned arrival a breeze.

In the middle of nowhere but clean and reasonable priced. Nice pool but not much more. Close to…read moreSeminole Casino. Friendly staff.
