1) Appointments: this place is popular so when a friendly receptionist was able to squeeze in our…read morenever-before-seen puppy within a week onto a schedule booked out for a month, we were impressed 2) Cleanliness: the open lobby is pristine for a business dominated by animals and lacks an anticipated smell often associated with such institutions 3) Friendliness: being greeted by staff bearing warm smiles helps to decrease both owner and pet anxiety in what can be a nerve wracking situation 4) Vet techs: professional, knowledgeable and thorough these techs are more helpful than any encountered in other similar establishments we've visited in years past 5) Veterinarians: for reasons unclear to me, perhaps great contracts for the doctors, this place has assembled an All-Star cast of compassionate pet care experts, such as Drs Thrasher and Reese, who are as competent in their life careers as they are caring for owners.

So torn on how to rate Prairie. They have always done such a fantastic job with our cat, Ruthie and…read moreour dog, Sadie. We have been so happy with them. This last weekend, I was very disappointed that I could not reach them when it mattered most. My sweet Sadie was diagnosed last Monday, a week ago today, with lymphoma. She was put on prednisone, which needs to be given with food. Friday, we went to the vet to get anti-nausea meds because she was having a hard time eating. By Saturday we could not get her to eat and she was miserable. We ended up in the ER vet because Prairie does not have an on-call person we could even just talk to. So, there we were in an unfamiliar place with a Dr unfamiliar to Sadie and us, having to make the most difficult decision without even the opportunity to speak with our vet. I understand vets can't be open all days, but I do believe someone should be reachable for these horrible situations that don't always occur during business hours. You either care about our fur babies or you don't. That care shouldn't stop on the weekends or only be shown when it's convenient. I'm talking about a phone call here....not an office visit. Nothing is convenient about end-of-life circumstances. So, I guess I'll settle on a "3" for the rating. Day-to-day, fantastic...weekends totally out of reach. Unacceptable in my opinion and they totally failed Sadie when she needed them most.

Dr. Annie Bowes and her team were incredibly attentive, compassionate, and efficient. Within about an hour and a half, Mini was stitched up, fitted with a cone, given her medication, and we were on our way home. In such a stressful and scary situation, their calm urgency and genuine care made all the difference. Mini has been recovering well ever since thanks to the excellent treatment she received. I am so grateful for the comfort and confidence they gave me during an emergency. I highly recommend Dr. Bowes and her team -- you can absolutely trust them with the care of your animals, especially when it matters most.

I unfortunately did not read any reviews or ratings before going in but I really wish I had. They didn't offer an in ear temperature gauge and attempted to stick a thermometer in his rectum. After he squirmed she decided she wouldn't be able to get his temperature and didn't try again at all. Even though the $150 exam fee includes all vitals and temperature is pretty important to rule certain things out. Maybe it was a one off incident but it seems like there is much better care out there. I would check all options before resorting to this location.

Usually, I have a regular pet sitter but this time she was not available so since K9 Country Club had been under new management for a while and the reviews were wonderful I decided to give them a try. We dropped in to get a tour and immediately we received a personal tour of the entire facility. We were very impressed! They stayed a week and were very happy and bouncy when I picked them up. K9CC was very accommodating and follow all directions for food and meds. Everything had been clearly labeled by K9CC and I had also requested my babies have a bath before picking them up. Randy, their groomer is excellent! He was very sweet and loving with both my babies and they loved him right back. They looked fluffy and smelled great! They were obviously well cared for and we will definitely return. Teresa Evans

A gentleman from the back walked up and one of them started barking at him at which point he aggressively went forward and yelled at the dog. My dogs were not OK for three weeks following this visit. This visit permanently changed one of them from being a dominant pack leader to a dog That's afraid of everything. Will belly crawl if you call its name. I am outraged. This business advertises new ownership and how wonderful it's supposed to be. We had used this kennel in the past a few years ago prior to the change of ownership and absolutely loved it. I think there is so much focus on the status of looking wonderful that nobody thinks to pull out the curtain to see what's behind it.
